  • memories

  • i played this game long time ago, when i was 5 years old, and i still remember it

  • My favorite part of this game is the visual gear shifter. I wish all racing games with manual transmission let you see the stick move instead of just a number to show what gear you're in.

  • What was a game, I remember when we bought a new Computer in 1993, I used to ask the permission from my father before to run the Computer and to play this game, it was very unique at that time, and now things have been changed a lot...

  • I had this game on super nintendo. Like everyone else I agree with kids have to much technology, when I was a child computers were freaking commodore 64's, didn't have any of the gadgets these kids have either. Seeing this game brings back memories.

  • this game was/is and allways will be a CLASSIC

  • naspa

  • Fail <<2:59

  • This kicked the shit out of the DOS version.

  • @KIFulgore

It kicked the shit out of every version!

  • i had this game on my amiga

  • Ha tdu for n64

  • All working gauges... somethign that TDU1/2 doesn't even have... old times...

  • how funny it was to escape from the police !! try to do this in real !! :)

  • Why is the c64 sound better? SID + Kris Hatlelid! But AMIGA grafx are stunning...

  • il tachigrafo segna 360Km\h wow veloce la macchina... :-)

  • So much better than the PC version.

  • this game made the F-40 my favorite car of all time with the 959 not far behind. :-) I still remember that my best avg. top speed on the 1st board was 152mph. to think, you could strip gears & blow your engine in that game.. something I still get pissed off at most new games about not including!! I didn't really like any of the games that came after, till unlimited.

  • This video should be banned, makes feel SO old, a time when I had only 2 kids, i now have 3 adult kids.

  • i got to admit, that intro has a catchy beat

  • This reminds me of the time when you played a game with the words "Test Drive" and "2" in it - and it was actually FUN to play, unlike "some more recent" versions of the franchise which require you to drive around for hours in a shitty car before you can get your hands on a Ferrarri or other fun car!

  • @DeLuXa2 yea finalyl DOSBOC worked.. but i thought it woud be betert game.. i prefer Street rod 2 now ^^

  • OIWANT TO PYL THIS ON WINDOWS 7 Fuck Unlimited 2 i want this!!!

  • funny thing is the new Test drive unlimted 2, engine sounds arent much better LOL

i still love all the test drives, and enyoing the new one. Granted on ps3 time, felt like i should PC it like with TDU, but opted for ps3 since my main rig is out of commission right now.

    anyway

  • @bottle2lip Haha, agreed. I think they ripped the entire sound system from this :D

  • I always had the creeps while driving near the edges of the road on a mountain! Eh ehe he. In tha time, there were few good driving games, unfortunately. I liked it.

  • lol i was playing this on my nintendo in 1999

  • Who the hell decided to get rid of the floppy disk drive.....I could just shove it in my laptop and TESTDRIVE

  • this car has a weird gearbox

because one is below and above the two is

  • @saiiad737 No, it's a dogleg gearbox so it's not weird. Well, weird compared to a normal one, perhaps.

  • i like the snes version the best

  • Good thing those cops were busy 1:35 because you passed them doing 240

  • Type in the game AERF or Bruce Dawson ure much faster

  • haha oh my gosh i was getting sick watching this :D

  • Yeah! Back to the 80s! Loved the game when I was a kid! Didn't have my own computer but my next door neighbour had it!

  • Back in the day I used to think this game was "The Dogs Bollocks" now I think it's just Bollocks :D .

I still have this game with the mega drive up in the loft and brought it down and gave it a go the other day, needless to say it went straight back in the loft :D

  • I remember this game vividly!!

  • 1989 :-DDDDD

  • I played this game when I was 4 every day after school for years and never knew what it was called. Until now.

  • one of the greatest sound ever....

  • omg i loved this game on amiga a500

this game rocks, now this is test drive

  • I play this on my crappy mobile phone

  • this is some kind of gaming expierence kids dont get nowadays...

  • oh mi fucking god this game is older than my granny

  • @Mikitaki1 haha true so fucking bad quality.

  • I wanna return to that era. it is 100x better than playing Call of duty and have to deal with campers and boosters. and 200x better than Forza. Nostalgia best coffee in the world!

  • Those were the days! loved that game (and the whole Test Drive series)

  • it even had crash damage and the engine sounds are amazing considering the age.

i've herd far worse engine sounds on the ps2!

  • @019208237 You have not heard worse engine sounds on the ps2.

  • @MegaRekyyli you want a bet on that?

  • @019208237 Sure ;)

  • @MegaRekyyli ever played riding spirits 2?

  • pixels :D

  • damn, this rapes the SNES version!

  • hahaha lol :P

  • I liked the sounds of Porsche the best, dunno why :)

  • ya I played that on a AMIGA 2000 as I was a kid back in these days was it real good GFX

  • sex game

  • funny gearbox the gear ar opsitedown

    1down 2op 3ldown 4op 5down

  • lol, my first thaught when he started driving was "why does he shift that late? With that car you should shift at 7200 RPM". 20 years later, and that's the first thing that pops up. I must have played this game WAY too much in my childhood.

  • To this day i dont thinks theres many games that could chirp the wheels in second gear.

I remember this being the fun stuff back in the day. amazing to think how we dreamed of the ultimate driving simulator, and today we have-em. although stereoscopic shutter glasses been around for sometime. its gonna be CRAZY to play games like GT5 ,forza on 3D TV. and even better when stereoscopic headmounted displays come down in price *thats the ultimate in being IN the Game Trust me!

  • i wish they were autobahns in the us unlimited miles no speed limits somebody needs to make this an HR number and send the bill to obama

  • in the past this was great game xp now, no xD

  • Autobahns were invented for drivers like you...

  • ooooold game hhéhéé :)

  • because you have no idea of what you are laughing.. :P :D

  • better than need for speed shift hehe xD

  • Better than every Need for Speed. SHIFT is one of the best NfS's ever, if you like realistic racing-games. No cop-shit in it, no brainless story, just pure racing on real tracks. But "Test Drive II" is a classic game. Hard for NfS to reach it! =)

  • @Trondyard Need for Speed 1 is the best ;)

  • In 1996 I loved to play "Need for Speed" on my new Pentium 120. It was a great game and I loved it, too. The series was going down till then, but with "Need for Speed SHIFT" it showed light at the end of the tunnel.

  • I find porsche unleashed the best. too bad shift doesn't have ordinairy sports cars like gran turismo and exotic tracks like porsche unleashed.

  • I used to play this game for hours on the Sega Genesis

  • What a fuck is this shit ??? :O

xD Iaugh wia 9999 hours :P

    yeeeeeeeeee!!!!

  • because you have no idea of what you are laughing. this game came out in 1989 and is a classic for the amiga! everyone played amiga back in the days. the games where great.

  • of course it was good game in the past :D

    but nowdays..... :D

    i can understand your feels

  • @plasticboy81 Kids today think that computers have alays been the beasts they are today and Consoles started life as the Playstation. I still play Amiga games, Hell i still play Atari 2600 games.

  • reactivate old memorys in my brain

    the best time ever

    played it soo often ..

  • Wow! I used to be completely obsessed with this game...

  • Whats the matter, couldn't find 5th ?

  • 2:04... I never realized there was a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe in this game. Why wasn't that a playable car?

  • Is the game flirting with me when it says "Test Drive 2"?

  • This Must Be Running Through An Emulator Since The Music And The Intro Sequence Timing Is Not Synced...If You Know What I Mean ;-D

  • yeah

its not the same with what ive remembered mofo!!!

  • It was always hard to judge the gap you had to the oncoming cars or the one you were about to pass. Great game!! It even had the little radar detector thing up near the sun visor too.

  • Amiga version is the best !!!!

On PC sound is from pc spkeaker :(

On amiga is best graphics and sound

  • PC version was better. Possible to overtake on the shoulder. Better perspective. And if you drove over the edge in PC-version the car really fall down.

  • i think the Snes VErsion Better, and mega drive worst

  • Looks too cartoonish on the SNES.

  • But uglier graphics and worse sound.

  • Remember playing this on the Amiga. Proper old school classic. Was class in 2 player mode against my bro on the splitscreen. I know the graphics don't look much compared to stuff around today but the gameplay was good. Also forgot about the two small dots running along the top of the screen showing where each car is! Cheers for the vid :)

  • i used to have that game for my megadrive, brings back the memories great vid thanks.

  • I loved this game!

  • almost tears in my eyes...

Does someone have the link for that main song?

  • Can someone tell me why I used to play this game for 3 hrs at a time in the 4th grade?....Would kill myself these days.

  • lol...we all did mate....pple from our era.

  • lol, great game, many late nighs and broken joy sticks..

lol agian this was state of art back then hehehe..

  • This brings back memories! How many times did I lie to say my homework was done just so I could play this!

  • Damn... That game brought back memories. Great game it was. Thanks. :-)

  • lol no it wasn't

    brings back memories though

  • he kinda sucks, ill post my video, I do level 3 flawless almost maxed out speed entire time in the f40.. gg

  • Amiga version looks gorgeous, I've only played on a PC (EGA)

  • How old are you??????

  • @sturmtiger848 : probably you tell his age using some of your ten fingers. Better yer a single finger.

  • i still love to play this game

i play it almost every week till today

  • omg!!! , i remmber this also all the hype about digitized graphics and some race driver saying it was just as real as the real thing hahaha ,, but yeah was topstuff though i loved hard-driving from the arcades though theses days you cant see the road as it looks like everything else on the screen and the car in front could easly be a house heh , those were the days

  • I am 31 years old and I remember this game. One of the finest race games of its time! I loved everything from the music to the game itself. (sigh) The good ol' days!

  • Well, I'm 31 and I do remember the game fondly too! :)

Albeit, a PC version, this here Amiga looks much better!

  • My apple IIgs was the shit and still is. This game was hard as hell though. Why isn't the 959 in Test Drive Unlimited(xbox360), o'yeah EA owns the rights to Porsche and BMW and EA makes crappy Need for Speed installments along with other crap that fails to impress. Eden needs these cars for TDU 2 and Rockstar needs them for Midnight Club LA. Greedy ass EA can suck it and not get my money...

  • First to djsps0 second to rtrgrl78

  • This brings back many happy memories of this game on my good old C64, still rate it as one the best racing games have played in my lifetime and am 30!

  • ...many happy memories with the first test drive :)

  • speech wasn't in C64 version either..

  • Woooooooooooooww, What a blast in the past. u made my day, dude.

  • well, no game is perfect..

  • This is the real test drive, not yours...

  • it was perfect in its time....

  • very nice, I can immagine how cool this was back in 1989, the amiga was a great piece of hardware. but the snes version runs faster it has to be said. visually and sound less rich, but smooter nevertheless

  • Snes version may be smoother, but the gameplay was totally lost from the Amiga original.

  • I think it was pretty good, gameplay actually better thanks to smoother framerate. but thats my opinion

  • Yes, TestDrive 2 must have been developed for the Amiga! The SFX is superb, and GFX are the best of that time!

Tip: try the cheat (incar type:"aerf")

gives you an extra life, and makes the car go uberfast.

  • omg memories from my childhood :)

  • Niice, i have this for PC, its on an A floppy disk :p

  • God this game was sooo fucking awsome back in the day!

  • Oldschool!

  • i had this game for the PC. actually i still have it. it was very enjoyable at the time.

  • q kaka

  • Yeah, Test Drive 2, great game!

  • OMFG IS THIS REALLY TEST DRIVE?

    LOL

I just got test drive unlimited

  • i had this game on my amiga 500..wow long time ago

  • your pee is cleaner than your spit

  • graphics are sex!

  • Maaan, you don't even imagine how wrong u are... ;]

  • ah, here we got an English Professor. Yes his english is bad.................so what?

  • Wow you people who keep trying to compare this to Test Drive Unlimited and know nothing about these TD games must be VERY young. I played the old Test Drive games all the time back in the day. It wasn't limited to the Amiga. They made versions for the SNES and Genesis too.

  • Hey, what about the 5th gear? You've almost killed that Ferrari engine!

  • Was the Amiga expensive? I can imagine, rich kids in like 1989 talking about how cool this game is, or was.

  • Uh,no,not at all. It was very cheap in fact compared to most PC's at the time. This was the reason it sold well. It was really impressive when it was launched it 1987. You should know a lot of games were later ported to the Nintendo and Sega consoles, but their fans seem blissfully anaware these games were made for the Amiga first...

  • What's Amiga?? I had no idea they made this game on other platforms!

  • i loved this game. used to play it on my sega mega-drive 2. the graphics & sound were a lot better than this but the concept was pretty much the same.

    R.I.P. SEGA & ACCOLADE

  • i remeber this level would give me so much trouble back in the day lol

  • i am laughing when i see the Steering wheel not movin xD

  • hehe, remember playing this loooong times before ^^ nice grafix

  • Man, just watching this makes me think how on earth have i spend countless hours playing this game! And the sound of the car brought great memories, lolol... And remember, this was from a time where PC's didn't have soundblasters (just pc speakers, ti titititit titi tititi) hehe

  • I used to rent this all the time for Genesis.

  • gr8 ! Form what year is this version???

Graphic and sounds are more better than I remeber from PC :)

  • Look ath the intro screen... "Accolade presents...". It was 1989.

I played this so often, but then came Lotus and all other AMIGA racing games became shit :-)

  • Hehe :-) i used to play this game on the Atari 1040STe back in the early 90's :-)

    Great Game it was.

  • I used to play this like crazy in 90, never passed part 4.

  • anyone know where to get a working emulator of this... Id love to play it again...

  • yea check out WinUAE

  • yeah me and my brother tried... couldnt get the thing to work

  • Hey, I have a question. I used to have this on my Apple II a long time ago. I just downloaded it for my up to date Dell computer. It works, but the sound isn't right at all, the sound effects sound like they are coming from the modem. Also, how did you get the desert to be that beach sand color? It was dark brown on my computer.

  • you don't have to rev the gears out all to the end!!

  • I LOVED This game!

  • nice video, i've upload a Test Drive III video, check it out if you like

  • OMG, This game stoped working on my beloved Amiga in 97' Thank you soooooo much for posting this, REALLY, Ill Ive been wanting to see is the intro - such memories. And yes, Rossi Rob still has the high score on mine. Sigh**

  • I almost crashed at 2:03 heheh

  • It is one of the best nostalgic moments I had for a while! 33 here... Jesus, it was the best graphics I had seen... until Barbarian 2 on the Amiga came out...

    Behave!

  • Barbarian... hehe another good one... right up there with Shadow of the Beast and Sword of Sordan ;)

  • lol i had this game for my amiga.. porshe or ferarri.. and if you typed GASS it would finish the level for you.
