Actually, that was filmed in multiple takes and looks way longer because of that but yes, even like that it took a while, since it was the 1st time I was trying the "thing". I end up not using it that often but sometimes it becomes really handy. And it is quick.
Oh, gotcha. It still probably doesn't match up to what? Lexus? Their auto-park feature. Do you have to be in the car when it does that? If not I'd just let it park and then go wherever I needed to go. Haha. Come back and just pull out. XD
Lexus=Toyota: Same company. Same technology both in NAV and safety stuff. Just add leather seats and refined design. Regarding autoparking: You still need to control the speed releasing the brakes so you need to be in the car.
Oh no way?!?! I didn't know they were the same company. So you have to be in there to control gas and break? So you can do it faster? It just seems like it would hold up traffic or something. lol. I want a Prius because of economy and money saving but I want a Crown Victoria Police Interceptor for the speed and fun. I turn 16 in five months and I don't know which one I want. >.<
It does the maths and takes over the steering wheel. You control the speed. And I don't know why there's that "feeling" that the Prius is not good on the speed and fun part. I have people asking me if it passes 50 Km/h (?). It's just a car. With a lot of gadgets and a smart way of (re)using energy, specially where others. Try it. I did about 6 test drives for the other cars I had in mind (speed considered). After the Prius testdrive all the other ones had no chance.
Doesn't it govern out at 99 mph though? I don't know. I was watching a few videos on it and it's weird how both the internal combustion engine and the electric engine work together. From the few videos I watched, the internal combustion engine doesn't even sound like it goes past 5,000 rpm. And if the speed and acceleration are acceptable, I think this would be the perfect car for me. Working part time, I wouldn't be able to afford gas for a V8. lol.
It doesn't go much past 5000 rpm on the engine side of the equation, because it doesn't have to. You've got two electric motors and a 1.5 liter engine under the hood.
no, if the vehicle is moving the electric motors are doing at least a bare minimum of work, but they can also handle the car all by themselves.
This site does a great job of explaining (pictures too) how the mix works, (some of his numbers don't match because they are for the 2001-2003 Prius but the concepts are the same)
grr, can't post links, google: Graham Davies "power split device"
We Americans are far too stupid to use this feature without killing ourselves and everyone around us... Toyota knows better than to offer this to your average American or they would be sued to bankruptcy in a month...
Prius' are gay. If you area male driving this, you are gay.

i could have parked 5 times by the time it parked once. oh well...kinda cool i guess
FordFanatic59 4 years ago
I suppose it does so because otherwise if something goes wrong you won't have time to stop the auto-parking.

Damn. That took forever. I would rather park it myself. By the time it parked itself, I would be in the restaurant, being seated. lmfao.

So is there an option to have it be powered just from the internal combustion engine?
