hi i ve got an hp dv 2000 and the product is dv2630ea same problem, it is a common problem with all the dv 2000 and 6000 series laptops, the only solution is to replace the mother board, well the mother board may cost a fortune plus labour cost so its better to scrap this peice of junk and buy a new, the thing is if hp knows the problem they should replace and fix it, as its not a problem with one laptop infact it is a manufacturing fault
How to fix it: when computer is on, start tapping f8 untill its shows adwanced options. Then select safe mode. Wait a minute for it to start. Log in, tale backups. Thats it... But your motherboard is still broken! Now your computer is for a new motherboard, or the trash!
Hey multheme if you get a fix for this please tell me, as my freind has the same problem.. But the only fix we hear works is replacing motherboard. but its cheaper just to but new laptop. :(
@AaaaghJOE i sent it in for repairs on September 2009. they replaced the motherboard which cost 1/3 of the laptop price. it worked fine until last December (within the warranty period), and the problem started again. i sent in again for repairs.

Worst computer company, they won't honor the warranty, low quality products, cheap components... in one word HP SUCKS.
