  • Brilliant song. Brilliant musician.

  • Great song and everything ... but just wondering .. what the hell is video about ??

  • @clickswitchh butterfly effect?

  • He is playing the guitar like a true hero.

  • Cringe worthy video, leagues behind the Stay video from the same album. Well at least we know where the budget went, round trip to America!

  • It's Cruel to be kind by Nick Lowe. Can't believe he wasn't sued.

  • wasted talent

  • Am I just imagining it or does the intro sound like The Tears' Refugees'?

  • @Salmijaervi yes, i think the same..

  • He obviously is totally alone...

  • Oasis?

    What a mongo.

    Butler is a musical God,

  • Good song!

  • Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GREAT!

  • LOVE THIS. It was on the first mix tape my first boyfriend made me!! Ah, nostalgic pushead!!

  • what a cracking song!!!...

  • I demand a Suede / Butler reunion!

  • you are the best .

  • tune

  • People overated Bernard too much as a guitarrist. Yeah, the guy is really good, but Richard Oakes did better much more for Suede than Butler did. He only spent like "5 minutes" in Suede's lifetime.

There's no denying that Bernard is a musical genious, an amazing producer and musician, but i i've seen too much people thinking that Suede ended up when he left.

  • i know where the "5 minutes" quote comes from, it's what Bernard himself humbly said about recent Suede's reunion.

I think he is the only one entitled to say so, not you or any other one.

And even so, the man who was in the band for such a "short" time co-set the key direction, and made Suede unique at that time. I don't think his contribution to Suede is less than Richard Oakes'. The two are both great.

  • yep, it was him who said it. and if he thinks that himself, who can deny it? Suede did great without him, as good, or better than with him.

Bernard is great, but is too much overrated.

"Coming Up" proved that the thing about Suede was always Brett Anderson.

  • Early suede wouldnt have existed without anderson or without butler, it was songwriting chemistry. Takes 2 to tango etc. Coming up was a great pop album and a good turn around for a band on a commercial downward spiral. click on a video of an early suede classic and everyone will be saying how rubbish oakes was instead. all poppycock

  • @howdycaptain63 the thing is, Bernard gets too much credit for Suede's sucess. He played his role, which was great, but Richard was not worse than him. And i doubt they could go on making always great records together... Blaming Richard's presence or Butler's absence for Suede's "decline" is being unfair.

  • @sonicadv27 As for suedes decline I would personally blame crack cocaine and the overall creative apathy that sets in when one has been there and done that. the oakes thing was very good for suede at the time and suede fans who got to see their heroes doing better than ever before. i just prefer the music they made in the butler years, think it had more artistic merit

  • @howdycaptain63 the first 3 albums, 2 of which were made with Bulter, are their best albums, but i've seen too much people thinking Suede is just Butler, or that Suede aren't good without him. The whole thing about Suede was always Brett, in my opinion. Of course Butler contributed a lot, as well as Oakes, but i think Brett has been the main creative force of the band all along

  • @howdycaptain63 Head Music wasn't a bad album neither it was good, it' was an experiment, and that's the nature of experiments: they never satisfy everybody, and i'm sure there's plenty people who love HM. A New Morning is a bit underrated too, but of course it's not close to their first 3 albums... and that happens... but citing Butler's absecne as a reason for that it's going too far...

  • ps bernard was in the band for two great albums. oakes for one great album one wierd one and as for the fifth album (shudders) but had it not been for coming up we prob all would have forgotten the whole shebang by now. all meant to be?

  • all this arguing about oasis etc is made redundant by the fact suede kick started the whole guitar renaissance a year earlier than the gallaghers.oasis only released one great album - their debut.suede first three and classics and still sound great today.bernards the greatest guitarist ive ever seen play, fantastic.

  • Great song-sounds nothing like Oasis

  • Not Alone is the first song I listened to BB's solo ever. I love everything about it, the guitar, the strings, the lyrics, the video, and of course the writer himself. Definitely a wonderful experience. Thanks Bernie, and your songs.

  • Beautiful song.

  • So why have taken time out of your busy life to:

    a) look for this video?

    b) watch this video?

  • ur an idiot!

  • So why have you taken time out of your busy life to:

    a) look for this video?

    b) watch this video?

  • You suck ass, Bernard is truly unique, a very uplifting and well crafted song.

  • very underated ,one off the best if you know music

  • Bernard Butler is probably the best guitarist after Johnny Marr......I can only dream of an album with Morrissey, Would that ever happen?

  • very nice!!!

  • very nice song !!!!!

Should I tell you why I feel so down

When all I've carried for days is the same old doubts?

Well I'd tell you if I'd had a plan

Only you're one of those with your head in the sand

While I don't feel so afraid

Maybe this is just some kind of phase

But I don't care about the wind in my face

Cos I'm not alone, these days

  • good album, but i think he resembles Noel Gallagher too much, sometimes...

  • Liam, i meant.

  • Ummm, no?

Firstly, Bernard arrived on the scene before Liam did, secondly Liam has only ever borrowed from Johnny Marr/ Ian Brown/John Lennon in terms of his look, and lastly Bernard is a million times more talented than either Gallagher, and any kind of comparison would only be flattering them.

  • no, that's not what i meant. it's just that his voice reminds me of Liam's, whether he came the scene before or after him...

anyway, he's more talented than Liam, for sure...

  • Oasis was so massive it wasalmost impossible not to sound like them at the time. Every single band had a lil bit of Oasis in their songs.

  • It was impossible for Oasis not to sound like the Beatles, you mean?

  • Whatever. It's all classic british style. It started with the Beatles, but Oasis was so big at the time (you were there right? it is undeniable) that rock bands, not only form Britain, but specially there, wanted to sound like them - I'm not biased, that's a fact. Whether you like them or not...

  • Didn't say I didn't like them, but how can bands sound like Oasis when Oasis sound like the Beatles?

  • That's not the point, the thing is, if it wasn't for Oasis, record companies probably wouldn't pay attention to melodic songwriting, strings, vintage guitars, harmonies, walls of sound and that sort of thing, because Oasis were doing so it was a big deal- they brought the Beatle thing back, it wasn't a Beatle revival on it's own. So Oasis inspired bands to write and record like that. Now, the scene has changed, after the strokes and libertines... you know.

  • You are giving Oasis too much credit. There were other bands like that out and about at the time, Blur being a good example.

  • I don't know... am I? I mean, imagine there's only Blur and a couple of other smaller bands like Cast, back in 1994, let's say Oasis never released their first two albums. would've british pop been the same? Or it became massive worldwide because of Oasis? I'm speaking in terms of how influential Oasis was. After Oasis, bands didn't want to sound like the Stone Roses (which was common), they wanted to sound like Oasis, and the industry wanted bands like Oasis (meaning, influenced by the 60s).

  • One day I'll play this song in front of more than 2 people and they'll cry or something like I do everytime I listen to it. D`You Know What I Mean?

  • Great Singer/songwriter. Love this song, rediscovered it after a good few years.. still sounds fresh.

  • What a record and album!

  • hello!I 'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YEARS TO SEE THIS VIDEO AGAIN!! TAHNK YOU!

  • duffyに歌ってほしいなぁー

  • hey bernie!

such a amazing musician you are, babe!

    cheers from BRAZIL! ;)

  • The thing I love the most about this song is how over the top the guitars are! Seriously, it's why I love Bernard Butler in Suede and it is why I absolutely love this song.

  • awesome song!

  • thanks for posting, I waited for this quite a while

  • Decent enough song, spoilt a bit by the overdone geetars

  • Tolerable Song, but aesthetically offending haircut. Makes one shudder.

  • great song, great cat :)

  • i remember talking with bernard sometime in the late 90s and he was really still upset about what happened with suede and his friendship with brett. when this came out, i just knew this song summed it all up...

  • first time i heard this track i heard "i'm not in love these days" and it just fitted cos i was just outta love and pleased about it. lol....

  • You can tell that Bernard is a cat person. A cat person who loves good production too.

  • Boring. Bernard should have not quit Suede.

Selfesteem destroyed best band of 90's. It's very unfortunate for all of us... who loved Suede

  • wonderful song. Ive missed it....but lets face it:bernard butler without brett anderson is like a sandwich without chocolate...:)

  • though the song is too good for a video like this, it is such a powerful song so it should has a powerful video too. not just people walking around in a cafe or him sitting next to his "toy train"... yea..

  • a masterpiece. i love it! thanks alot for sharing

  • Thanks man. I've searching for it.
