I have a Mahindra from 1970 based on the CJ3B model. It was fitted with the Hurricane petrol engine, but it was very thirsty, so we changed it with a Ford Sierra 2.3 Diesel. It now works great, but I still miss that good old engine.
Awesome job guys. The TDI was a great choice! I've been pondering a CJ-7 diesel conversion myself after falling in love with my new Jetta TDI. If only I didn't love the straight 6 so much too.
It's a VW 1.9L turbo-diesel from a '93 Golf. More info and pics are available at:

The big guy in the videos is my brother. He and a partner are starting up a diesel conversion business near St.Marys, Ontario, Canada. Their main focus will be Jeeps, Toyotas and other SUVs. Thanks for viewing!

The mahindra used the 2.1 version of the 2.3 peugeot diesel used in ford sierras.
Keep an eye on the cylinder head/ water loss, thats the weak spot.
Friends got through 3 heads before it was scrapped!
My friends van killed 2 heads!

Wow... just read the history of this video, and am touched by the generosity of Jeepkings. Hope Christine makes a full recovery. God Bless y'all!
Peace,
Debi
PS... check out my Willys Jeep Ditty video.

It was a pretty amazing thing. Those guys are heroes to us.
Christine is doing well. She is having her other breast removed and both reconstructed at the same time.
She's one hell of a woman!

Use the Cummins. You won't be disappointed. Even a 4BT can be easily tuned to put your straight 6 to shame.

They just finished putting a Cummins 4BT in a 2000 Jeep TJ (see the above link).

It is black, but does not have a snorkel. It was finished a couple of weeks ago.

There isn't a write-up done for it yet, but I can tell you it's a 3.9L Cummins 4BTA with a Dodge NV4500 transmission.

Nope, it's a 1962 Willys Jeep CJ3B. It was done up as a semi-replica of an M606, the military version of the CJ3B.
