  • You push it.

  • lol she ment under powner not underway underway means not tied up!

    Damn thats one nice boat.

  • Interesting how true she sailed astern with one prop, wish mine did !

  • Rule 34(g):

When a power-driven vessel is leaving a dock or berth, she shall sound one prolonged blast.

An "expert" should know the "rules of the road".

  • So much for rule 34 G.

  • Her accent is annoying as hell. This is what happens when mainlanders get a little to much money and decide they want to speak like a coasty and hang around the docks.

  • every boat backs different-depending on rotation of prop size of rudder and keel configuration. This video is for a few select sailboats that arent usually made for the ocean. Please dont think this is how your boat reacts backing. Proabably you will be in for a big surprise.

  • hello guyz im looking for a sailboat with no moter small enough for 1 person to use but big enough to have a steering wheel thing is there such thing if so plz tell and if it looks liek a schooner or an classic pirate boat that would be great thx guyz

  • How does a sailboat come out of dock if there is no motor?

  • To leave dock with no motor you need to get the boat head to wind on the side of the dock that has the best shot of the wind pushing you away. At this point you raise the sails with the sheets out so they are luffing.

Once you are ready you have a crew member uncleat the boat and give it a starting push/pull so you have some steerage and then sheet in the sails to add power.

It requires planning ahead and if you don't do it carefully you can't "turn off the power" and bad things can happen.

  • At this point it's not a sailboat it's a motorboat

  • Put the helm over before engaging the prop, doofus. There are loads of these videos on here, all well meaning help videos, but all very badly informed. If I were a novice sailor I certainly wouldn't want to take too much of this advice on board.

No offence meant guys but you could cause safety issues with these vids. I'm Coastguard Search and Rescue and spend a lot of time rescuing people who should have known better!!

  • they un-tie the boat ...leave all the lines at the dock

    ... hmmmm .... stupid idiot ...

  • Skipper is coming back to same dock. So it makes sense to leave lines that are already set to cleat to leave on the dock. Iam sure skip has another set of mooring lines down below.

  • The way she talks is irritating as shit.

  • 1:09 what the hell is "strrrrge"? it's steerage hahaha

  • Argg... all the nautical terms make it sound way more complicated than it is: "stow the fenders" = "put the plastic bumper thingies away"

  • on another video they didn't any of the lines
