Thanks for posting this! I was trying to make a picture of my cat smile and couldn't figure out why the bones wouldn't warp her face. I figured it had to be something simple.
Flash CS4, has a very stable bone tool together to possibility to encapsulate layers into a movie clip symbol. This would be my first choice.
I am currently using AS to do 3D and Camera effects, and lip synchronization. It is simple and works. Toon Boom can do a good job to, many times not that simple, not that compatible.
Would you recommend this technique for animating a whole little character, with arms and legs?... Or would this look too bad? Is this only useful, for such small moves like you did with the miss liberty picture?

Can I also achieve this with the basic version of Anime Studio 5.
