Logging in from Wellington. I have never thought that NZ entertainers were inferior just because they came from NZ. In the 1960s I bought heaps and heaps of NZ records because I liked them then and do you know what? I still like them today and yes they stand up to anything else that you can get your hands on. Nice post again Tasman!
Man,whoever posted all these old kiwi artists songs, bless your sweet hearts. They made my day. When they were 1st released we here in NZ suffered from an inferiority complex re our art & music.Looking back, wow how wrong we were,we were & are as good as the state of the art.
Beautiful & thank you so so much for sharing.AWESOME
Oh my gosh! This song takes me back to AGGS (Auckland Girls' Grammar) when I was in the 4th Form. Chokes me up 'cause it's still beautiful after all these years and brings back some beautiful but emotional memories. :)
I know the feeling it reminds you of all the fun times you had with friend and we didnt really have much in the way of problems compaired to what the kids of today have, even if we thought we did.
Wow. This gem was her debut single and went to #4 on the NZ charts in 1973. She had two more top 20 hits that year: 'Masquerade' and 'Show your Love', making it to places 11 and 4 respectively. My favourite of hers' is hardly known. It's called ' I'm crying too' and she and I are probably the only two people who remember it. Back in those days of my early puberty I was quite a fan
Written about Henry Fonda who was born in 1905. Shona had an obsession with him.

Great song! Passes the test of time ...unlike some of the old kiwi classics that don't.
