Ah well Mark Hudson and George and all the others were standing at the graveside and Mark asked George what his Favourite song of Harry's was, to which George replied "Fuck You" Hudson was a little put aback until George started singing You're breaking my heart, you're tearing me apart, so Fuck You, and everyone else then joined in and sang the whole song...
Homegrown American... and half of the Beatles loved him. And, Ringo made a movie with him. I used this song as an alarm clock (rigging my stereo that would turn on with a built-in timer.) John Lennon and he had many drunken adventures... and I'm sure that Tommy Smothers remembers. Anyway... nobody did it like Nilsson. If John and Paul are your fans... check out "Who Is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everybody Talkin' About Him?)". It's good fer ya!
@pickles2480 it's JUST NORMAL they used to influence eachother. Look at so many cases alike. They said the same about Joel & McCartney, Dylan and Donovan, Elton John and somebody else.
Incredible!!!

Maybe Billy Joel was also influenced by Harry? Sure sounds like it when I hear this fabulous song.

@spirtw72 More likely is that they had the same influences.

Gotta Get Up has always been my favorite Nilsson song, and it does sound Beatle-like, so yeah the influence is there - strongly so!
