It's a sad and cruel world... but thats life for you. That baby would have starved.... it's hooves might have been undeveloped and soft or something else could have been wrong with it.
yes this is sad but i think it is more sad and actually cruel to keep a person alive only by drugs or machines when they are nothing more than a vegetable, terminally ill or in a lot of pain and just want it to end. that stallion saved that foal from stress of being abandoned and the slow death of starvation, even if a predator came up to kill and eat this foal it would probably be a slow, painful death.
I wish this gal who did the Cloud series had not injected so much human emotion into these horses; they have their own map of life and death. Our interpretation is only a guess, and the horses will always do what they are programmed by nature to do. Nothing at all shocking.....
the fact that there are so many dislikes on this video just shows human beings' disassociation with nature. Evolution dictates that only the strongest organisms will thrive and the weak will be eliminated from the gene pool. This is nature taking it's course, and nature is not cruel or evil or horrific; it is just ensuring the fittest animals live.
Thats cruel, but...thats nature. I am literally weeping, and I can't stop, that just breaks my heart, but saved that baby from a very sad unhappy death from starvation. If it couldn't stand, its couldn't eat. Sorry, but I'd rather my death be quick, rather than dragging it out until a predator came to kill me. Its the ultimate deed of love. And it still sucks and its still cruel. Poor thing.
@samurai0rezurii thats what i thought but think about if that stallion didnt kill it the mother would have to leave it there and it would eventually starve to death slowly and painfully so in a sort of dark way the stallion did the foal a favor
Nature has a wisdom to it that can be difficult for humans to understand. The stallion instinctively understood the situation and knew what had to be done, and did it. A crippled foal would slow down the herd and reduce the survival chances of every horse in that herd. The stallion acted in the best interests of his herd. This is not debatable.
It is sad and alarming to see, but nature is not crippled by sentimentality, as humans often are.
i remember one night this was the only thing on tv ,it seemed all peaceful then all the sudden the horse spazzed out and killed the baby me and my bro BURST out laughing and couldnt stop
There's nothing wrong with the video. It's sad, but it's nature. It really does need a different title and description. It sounds waaay more friendly and cute then it is. @oscarcoastwilde You don't think abortion is disturbing?? MILLIONS of women get their babies aborted, and if you SAW how the doctors do it, you would be disturbed!!!
@jklfds85 I think that is disturbing as well; the fact that animals do something comparable to abortion (i.e. the "mercy kill" infanticide) is also disturbing. We ought to be better than wild horses in this regard, being supposedly superior beings. But clearly we are not, as you have said about abortion and stuff.
I was shocked when this I saw this but wild stallions will kill other stallions foals, so only their blood will carry forward. @xxshyxbabe93xx While true, this isn't always the case. When Cloud found Sitka, she had a young foal from another stallion, and Cloud adopted him. There are many times when Stallions let other foals live, even colts. I wonder if the stallion attacked because there was something wrong with the foal. I'm not saying he didn't do it because it's another stallions foal, but just a thought. The other's didn't do it because they were related or mares with mothering instincts.
@xxshyxbabe93xx That's horrible..I guess even in nature, animals do kill at random, this depresses me on so many levels...here I thought humans were the only worse-off thing in existance, but even with animals such as horses, my favorite and beautiful creatures I started to think were more gentle could be more vicious, I guess. This is going to take some time to get over what I just witnessed. I can't believe it. I want a miniature mare as a companion, I'd hate to see something like this happen.
@oscarcoastwilde@xxshyxbabe93xx The Stallion might also have been protecting the foal's mother or other mares. It seemed the mares were very set on trying to help the foal and may even go to the extremes of staying behind or even defending the foal from a predator. This may seem like a noble task, but the foal is not going to survive, so a Stallion would see this as an unnecessary risk and the only way to protect his mares.
This broke my heart. I breed Arabians & Welsh & have 3 stallions who live in their own paddocks with their mares & foals Not once have my boys looked bad at the foals; they protect play with & even teach them. Im aware of good&bad of breeding & ownin horses but if I had a stallion attempt this they'd be gone/put down & I don't say that lightly because I love my animals but that behavior's not ok wild or not :'( That poor foal & Mum :'( Thankfully the foals where no pain can touch him
My five year old is crying, and doesn't want to watch any more horse videos ever again. I don't mind teaching him the facts of life, but I resent some clueless jerk not thinking about the effect of this video on unprepared little ones. A disclaimer in the title is needed.
@releasethetiger Or parents should double check before they expose their children to anything. You are the parent, not the video poster. Also, better avoid lion videos.
@sunnierskye You're right about checking youtube videos first, but I was just thinking it would have been nice of the poster to title the video more appropriately. Of course I know people don't have to be nice, I had some false hope there for a second. It's impossible to double check everything a child is exposed to, now that my son is in kindergarten, he has learned the word shit from another kid (since addressed by a teacher). P.S. I like lion videos :)
@xShadowxPhoenix My problem with the video wasn't even about the content, it was about the misleading title of the video. I totally don't mind teaching my son about stuff, he's gone through death in the family already and one of our dogs died. I dislike being forced to teach my son a life lesson, when a disclaimer could have given me a minute or two to think about what I was going to say to him.
It confuses me that you aren't prescreening what you show your child any way. Especially on a website like Youtube where it is not uncommon to find pornography in the middle of a video, or animals mating with people around them laughing. I saw a video of a man having sex with a dog on youtube once. Placed in the middle of another video (the video has since been removed).
Just random stuff I've come across. Opened a video about proper dog walking techniques, randomly in the video there was like 3-4 seconds of a woman getting nailed by a dog. No joke. They don't end up staying long, but they do pop up from time to time.
@hansberrylovesyoux3 Well, he's definitely not allowed to go on youtube without me. I believe that youtube has some value as a teaching tool, he always has questions about stuff. I will be screening videos in the future so I don't get any surprises. Merry Christmas :)
LOL OMFG! That stallion went to town on that foal. I agree, it wouldn't have felt much more than confusion before death, and not much pain. Stallions are scary.
This foal has bilateral luxation of the patella. It's more common in Shetland ponies, who can live with the condition, but with the degree of rigidity here, even in captivity, this foal would be euthanised. It is sad, but he does not want another Stallions progeny surviving. The bones of a young foal are very easy to break, and the foal would have been dead in the first few seconds, which is very sad, but possibly better than starvation/dehydration
yes this is part of nature and everything. I'm very aware and I've grown up with horses my entire life. But you probably should put a small disclaimer in the title. There are some people who aren't good at handling this type of thing and should at least be warned before they watch it. That is all :)
@ZOEPUP19989 well maybe you should get over it and not complain about things that a thousand other other annoying people have said. its part of life, now get over it:) thanks.
all the people bitching bout kids watching this video.. why the HELL is your child watching a video YOU haven't watched before showing it to them!!! and if your child is old enough to be watching youtube videos by him/herself then you need to be realistic and explain to them that in the wild, death is a part of life and the horse sensed something was wrong with the foal and put it out of its misery.. BE A PARENT AND PREVIEW VIDEOS BEFORE LETTING YOUR CHILD WATCH THEM AND STOP BLAMING THE UPLOADR
The stallion did that foal a favor people! Yes it's hard to see and it is harsh for virgin eyes. However, that foal was born with a genetic defect that didn't allow his legs to work properly. That foal would have suffered days maybe up to a week or until the other wild animals got him that night if that stallion wouldn't have done that.
Aww :( It irks me when people narrate these shows and when crap happens they don't do shit. But...I know it's better to not interfere....still can't these ppl adopt more often? It's the least they can do for filming them. Surely they can afford such a thing considering. >.<
00:58 the sneezing panda cub moment of the horse world
Plus his ears weren't pinned back and his body language did not suggest that he attacked the foal because it was from another herd. The stallion does not control the herd, it's the dominate mare/s that do and often are the ones that push the stallions around.
Stallions have their own personalities and their own way of handling different situations. Like the young stallion with the mares from looking glass herd he also went to encourage the foal. Looking glass went to investigate and noticed that not even his herd could get it to stand...that was just his way of handling this issue.
seriously what the fuck - I showed this video to my little kid - he is two - he wanted to see a foal running around, and you put this shit up without any warning - you stupid fuck.
OMG what the hell is wrong with you apexpredtor11? stallion meets his foal my ass, you need to rename this video, stallion murders his foal, there are kids that watch horses on this site, you probably just made a bunch of them bawl, thats just wrong shame on you
Very hard to watch. I guess we'll never know if the foal could have stood with a little more time. I'm surprised the mare abandoned him, but maybe she sensed something was wrong too--? Guess we'll never know now.
At least if a predator had gotten to the foal, it would have gotten something to eat. Instead, Looking Glass here just makes a fucking waste of a perfectly good meal.
I remember this video, I saw it a few years earlier and I thought the same thing. But then I came cross this fact that sometimes stallions will kill a foal if it's in pain, or if it was born with complications. So the stallion puts the foal out if it's misery, besides it probably couldn't have survived anyways, sadly.
It seems cruel, yes, but sometimes we need to let nature do what she does :)
I hate to say it was natures way. The foal could not stand, and thus he killed it. But so violently as to that extent, it is disturbing as she said. He may need to be watched in the future.
Lookinh Glass did that foal a favor. The foal woulda died anyway. By cougar or something. That foal had a defect and couldn't stand. The stallion did what was right. Violennt yes but it was best for the foal. Being in the wild is tough. You have to be strong and if yer not, yer going to die anyway. It's nature. I'm sorta glad the foal is out if its misery though.
It would have been nice to have a lil bit of an idea what was gonna happen my horse loving 8 yr just saw this video and came screaming into The living room.not angry at the post at all it is part of nature but she totally thought it was a daddy horse meeting his baby. Titles do make a difference.
I know this stallion was trying to put it out of it's misery or it's just in its territory but if little girl's see this they willl hate horses FOREVER!!!
this may be hard to watch, but this stallion knew that this foal would not make it. As did the mother as she left him. this is nature you cant change the way it works. yes its horrifying to people who own and love horse, i have one of my own. but these are wild and they go by there instincts. thank you.
I didn't cry or puke. I don't know the foal and this is nature. The foal would die in any situation you put it in.
Looking Glass didn't kill the foal because it would send the foal's mother into heat. The mare isn't even in his herd; why would he care if she's in heat for another stallion? He didn't kill it because it was from another herd or stallion.
hey isn't it a clip form "cloud" the wild mustang - film? the foal was not able to stand up or either walk. so the stallion did the right thing. everyone get over it.
OMFG!!!!! WHY DID YOU EVEN POST THIS I THOUGHT IT WAS GUNNA BE CUTE AND IT BROKE MY HEART!!!!!!!!!! WHY DONT YOU TAKE IT OFF!!!!!!!! I KNOW THIS IS LIFE BUT I DONT WANNA SEE A FOAL ACTUALLY DIE!!!!!!!! OMG TAKE IT OFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's so sad! I almost cried! I know that the foal's hind legs were paralized but what I think is sad is that the parents left the foal there to go into the grasp of another horse group that wouldn't take it's presence too kindly... At least the other group's mares were there and tried to stop him! :'(
There are many forces beyond our comprehension that have evolved and governed animals in the wild for a reason. What may appear to be cruel in the short run, often prove beneficial in the long run.
As much as the video sickened me, it is a part of nature. The foal could not stand properly and foals are able to stand within a hour. If the foal could not stand it would of died or been eaten. People may say I am cruel, but sometimes it is best to let nature take place, but that particular stallions behavior was vicious.
@4evahorselover The foal looked like a colt at my stable yard and he couldn't stand properly either. I was glad that the foal was domesticated, because this could of happened. It's a sad thing.
@GregorioXII If humans intervened, it wouldn't be nature because we are disturbing what horses have been doing for years. We cannot help it. Like I've said, the foal could not stand and it would of led a life of pain, so it was best for this foals life to of ended. If the foal was domesticated, it would of been different.
@TheJinxx100 You don't understand what the word "nature" means, do you? Why must people create this line between "the natural world" and humans? Humans are as much a part of nature as birds and trees and whatever else. If a fucking hippopotamus intervened would you call it unnatural?
In any case, I have to think if you think it's fine for horses to kill the disabled you should think it's fine for humans to do the same.
Also, small grammar note, instead of "of", write "have."
@TheJinxx100 Er... ok? Nature, being all of the things inhabiting the natural world, ie. humans. Nature pertains to existence itself, not UH YEAH EVERYTHING EXCEPT HUMANS YEAH FUCK HUMANS HUMANS DON'T MAKE SENSE.
@TheJinxx100 See, I wasn't trying to argue opinions, though. I wasn't really even arguing, I was just trying to make a point. You're right though, this is dumb. Sorry about all that.
@GregorioXII The stallion did not kill the foal because it was ill. The stallion knew that the foal was not his own offspring, and killed it because it was a rival herd member.
@squirttle92 I don't care. That has nothing to do with what I was talking about, but definitely makes more sense than if it killed it because it was ill. Only humans show mercy.
It was relevant because you said about "horses killing the disabled", making it seem like the stallion killed the foal because it recognized that the foal was ill.
I cried, but like..He did put the foal out of mysery..

A disclaimer in the title is needed.
releasethetiger 3 months ago 6
@releasethetiger Or parents should double check before they expose their children to anything. You are the parent, not the video poster. Also, better avoid lion videos.
sunnierskye 3 months ago

@releasethetiger

@releasethetiger Or maybe you're a bad parent for showing your child explicit videos.

Just random stuff I've come across. Opened a video about proper dog walking techniques, randomly in the video there was like 3-4 seconds of a woman getting nailed by a dog. No joke. They don't end up staying long, but they do pop up from time to time.

LOL OMFG! That stallion went to town on that foal. I agree, it wouldn't have felt much more than confusion before death, and not much pain. Stallions are scary.
PinkShirtz 3 months ago
This foal has bilateral luxation of the patella. It's more common in Shetland ponies, who can live with the condition, but with the degree of rigidity here, even in captivity, this foal would be euthanised. It is sad, but he does not want another Stallions progeny surviving. The bones of a young foal are very easy to break, and the foal would have been dead in the first few seconds, which is very sad, but possibly better than starvation/dehydration

all the people bitching bout kids watching this video.. why the HELL is your child watching a video YOU haven't watched before showing it to them!!! and if your child is old enough to be watching youtube videos by him/herself then you need to be realistic and explain to them that in the wild, death is a part of life and the horse sensed something was wrong with the foal and put it out of its misery.. BE A PARENT AND PREVIEW VIDEOS BEFORE LETTING YOUR CHILD WATCH THEM AND STOP BLAMING THE UPLOADR
Icequeentt 4 months ago 4
The stallion did that foal a favor people! Yes it's hard to see and it is harsh for virgin eyes. However, that foal was born with a genetic defect that didn't allow his legs to work properly. That foal would have suffered days maybe up to a week or until the other wild animals got him that night if that stallion wouldn't have done that.

Plus his ears weren't pinned back and his body language did not suggest that he attacked the foal because it was from another herd. The stallion does not control the herd, it's the dominate mare/s that do and often are the ones that push the stallions around.
conversgirl206 4 months ago
Stallions have their own personalities and their own way of handling different situations. Like the young stallion with the mares from looking glass herd he also went to encourage the foal. Looking glass went to investigate and noticed that not even his herd could get it to stand...that was just his way of handling this issue.

At least if a predator had gotten to the foal, it would have gotten something to eat. Instead, Looking Glass here just makes a fucking waste of a perfectly good meal.
GregorioXII 4 months ago
I remember this video, I saw it a few years earlier and I thought the same thing. But then I came cross this fact that sometimes stallions will kill a foal if it's in pain, or if it was born with complications. So the stallion puts the foal out if it's misery, besides it probably couldn't have survived anyways, sadly.
It seems cruel, yes, but sometimes we need to let nature do what she does :)

I hate to say it was natures way. The foal could not stand, and thus he killed it. But so violently as to that extent, it is disturbing as she said. He may need to be watched in the future.
tanakk9 4 months ago
Lookinh Glass did that foal a favor. The foal woulda died anyway. By cougar or something. That foal had a defect and couldn't stand. The stallion did what was right. Violennt yes but it was best for the foal. Being in the wild is tough. You have to be strong and if yer not, yer going to die anyway. It's nature. I'm sorta glad the foal is out if its misery though.

this may be hard to watch, but this stallion knew that this foal would not make it. As did the mother as she left him. this is nature you cant change the way it works. yes its horrifying to people who own and love horse, i have one of my own. but these are wild and they go by there instincts. thank you.
ilovemysexyhorse 5 months ago
WOW.
You people are both stupid and wusses.
He killed it because it was going to die anyways.

That's so sad! I almost cried! I know that the foal's hind legs were paralized but what I think is sad is that the parents left the foal there to go into the grasp of another horse group that wouldn't take it's presence too kindly... At least the other group's mares were there and tried to stop him! :'(
PG9million 6 months ago
There are many forces beyond our comprehension that have evolved and governed animals in the wild for a reason. What may appear to be cruel in the short run, often prove beneficial in the long run.
RustyRazor2010 6 months ago 3
As much as the video sickened me, it is a part of nature. The foal could not stand properly and foals are able to stand within a hour. If the foal could not stand it would of died or been eaten. People may say I am cruel, but sometimes it is best to let nature take place, but that particular stallions behavior was vicious.
TheJinxx100 6 months ago 45
@TheJinxx100 I agree with you but still is sad that should not happen :(
4evahorselover 6 months ago
@4evahorselover The foal looked like a colt at my stable yard and he couldn't stand properly either. I was glad that the foal was domesticated, because this could of happened. It's a sad thing.
TheJinxx100 6 months ago
@TheJinxx100 Everything is a part of nature, bro. If humans were to intervene, it would still be nature.
GregorioXII 4 months ago
@GregorioXII If humans intervened, it wouldn't be nature because we are disturbing what horses have been doing for years. We cannot help it. Like I've said, the foal could not stand and it would of led a life of pain, so it was best for this foals life to of ended. If the foal was domesticated, it would of been different.
TheJinxx100 4 months ago
@TheJinxx100 You don't understand what the word "nature" means, do you? Why must people create this line between "the natural world" and humans? Humans are as much a part of nature as birds and trees and whatever else. If a fucking hippopotamus intervened would you call it unnatural?
In any case, I have to think if you think it's fine for horses to kill the disabled you should think it's fine for humans to do the same.
Also, small grammar note, instead of "of", write "have."
GregorioXII 4 months ago
@GregorioXII I think I do know what the term 'nature' means considering I study Biology.
TheJinxx100 4 months ago
@TheJinxx100 Er... ok? Nature, being all of the things inhabiting the natural world, ie. humans. Nature pertains to existence itself, not UH YEAH EVERYTHING EXCEPT HUMANS YEAH FUCK HUMANS HUMANS DON'T MAKE SENSE.
