  • You know the Hongi has facinated me for some reason alot (had to watch Whale Rider for a class assignment, and the Maori very interesting).

Also I am glad she said it caise i was pronouncing it wrong

  • sorry but I beg to differ concerning the killing of babies in Maori time....children were not murdered wether they were halfcast or girls....where does prof Moon get his info from I like to know...

  • what is Glob aloneness? why is glob alone?

  • @wairuauriaw haha... i think its global oneness instead.

  • hmmm every people has something in their history that they are not happy with. I'd like to know where you got your information from?

  • @please7780 My information has been transmitted to me from our ancient ancestors, and I continue to practice what I was taught by my Speaking Mountains, my Mentors, the Old People who brought me up. We are descended from both the ancient people and the people who came in the Great Fleet. Many of the negative things that have been said about the way we treat children and each other, is not truly reflective of our ancient people. We are regarded as the finest conservationists & Social Scientists

  • meke ..

  • I like the eyebrows symbolysing bird wings,I didn,t see it like that, now I do.

For myself the hongi is not really about the nose which is what people focus on but

the eyes where they see into one anothers soul as they meet during the act.Once the eye to eye contact is made, the trust of the conversation then begins as you speak from words that create life

    peace

  • What a brown nose.

  • the concept of the hongi is really beautiful... In practice I find it awkward though x)

  • @omgshift111 Yeah, it really needs to be a mutual thing. If prompted by only one party, it can actually be quite awkward, I agree :p

  • i like this

  • In order for everyone to live, we all have to learn respect. If the energy is too much on the negative side and the other side is only minute, there will be consequences. This is why to make the world a better place, we have to learn how to respect, in order to have equilibrium. The energy we consume is the life force for all, you name it animal or tree. The 'EQUILIBRIUM' is the life force and the wisdom energy, which is 'RESPECT' believe it people. This beautiful lady has the upmost RepectXO!

  • Maori or polynesian and they have lost their ways, and you cant say the same for Europeans because they havent, There ways are still rich, mainstream, everywhere around you so ofcourse they are living healthy and alive because you cant even run away from it. If the colour of your skin is brown but you have no maori values, and or any other religion values then heck man your stuck in no where! Thats what happens.

  • @RiaPaki Yes infanticide was an accepted part of Maori culture and was and still is widely practiced. Half of all children in NZ state care are of Maori descent, Maoris have the highest rate of abuse related child head trauma in the world and the second highest rate of child murder after the Australian Aboriginies.

  • What the frick? @Epochofbelief, who are you? Have you studied the maori? Because no infanticide was NOT an acceptance practice in our culture, it goes against all of our beliefes, in our culture children are considered as the most sacret gift in life wich they are, and u see it as a maori practise? pfft just because the colour of their skin is brown, maybe if you asked them wich are their marae's they'll have no idea what you are talking about. And yes the majority of child murdue is probably

  • @RiaPaki In Prof Paul Moon's book about Maori cannibalism, Moon wrote that “infanticide was said by some early European visitors to Maori settlements to be widespread - particularly the killing of baby girls (who would never grow into warriors), taurekareka (slaves captured in battle), and half-caste children.” The four main methods of killing unwanted children were “compressing the temples of a child, strangulation, drowning the child in a stone-filled basket, and suffocation.

  • I believe that those people who murdured their own are not what i see as a true maori i say people because thats what they are i dont see them as a representitive for all maori, in fact they go against everything that we know as being maori, yes there is the "Maori" race but to be a Maori is a whole different concept, those people are obviously lost in their ways, they have no values, religion, know nothing of their maori culture and thats what happens if you dont have a beliefe in anything

  • @RiaPaki "I believe that those people who murdured their own are not what I see as a true Maori": So why is child murder in NZ almost exclusively a Maori practice? There are plenty of other people who have lost their way but don't kill kids. Infanticide was an accepted and widespread practice prior to the arrival of Europeans.

  • @ Epo..wow your a sad pessimistic type of person who obviously has nothing better to do than over analyse a simple lil snippet of a video...

Have some respect! Have you heard of the concept of cultural safety?

@ hippny...your making a generalised and flippant remark...you say "but Maori want to split NZ?" I'm Maori and thats not how I see it! We r proud of our culture and our uniqueness..people are people yes, but we hold our links and identity of utmost importance.Ya'll are TAU IWI btw!

  • Funny the way she talks about everyone being one people, but Māori want to split New Zealand based on race

  • I reckon Hippynz aka tauiwi needs to educate themselves about the true history of who has continued to split and divide: parents from their babies in daycares, children into day 2 day classroom learning, adults out to work 7 days a week - thats must be why u took up life as a Hippy aye?

  • So it's daycares that causes Maoris to kill their children? But doesn't have the same effect upon the rest. Did you know that infanticide was an acceptable practice in pre-colonial Maori society? Because warriors were needed, often girl babies were killed at birth by pushing a finger into the unformed skull. The truth about your brutal, neolithic culture needs to be told in it's entirety.

  • I wonder if she could give description why they bash kids and the elderly and steal anything not bolted down.

  • @Epochofbelief get over yourself!

  • Hey, Epochofbelief, she does not condone bashing kids and the elderly. Nor does she steal. Actually, if you were being the victim of violence, she would be the first to step up and defend you. I would ask you to show her the same grace, please.

  • @Epochofbelief *** Epoch needs to get counseling for his unfortunate child abuse and malnurishment. It is to be pitied and shown kindness for its obvious disabilites. Get well soon epoch xox

  • you cant say that about a hole entire race just cause of a few rotten apple's ur a very close mind'd person thinking that , Hongi is apart of our tradition that's how we great one another , every body has there own theroys and ideas of what something is... do-sent mean that's the mind set of the hole entire nation because of how one person speaks.

  • and about bashing kids why don't you look at possibly your own people every body's done it in the past well that's how i grew up n im glad my dad kicked my ass or else i wouldn't be where i wanna be i would prob be in some fucking prison cell , the reason why ur going on about Maoris bashing kids is fool proof you aint got shit behind that to back it

  • You don't seem to understand Masscreation, Maoris account for 15% of the population and almost all the child murders. 17 0f the last 20 child murders were commited by Maoris and only one was European. Any race or group that would seek to gain sadistic pleasure from harming the the most innocent and defenseless, then deny that they have a problem is asking for the wrath of society be heaped upon them.

  • You just described Colonization as an imposed condition of the murdered, the raped, the pillaged, the plundered. Well done for teaching and upholding your Colonial heritage ...blaming those you dessicrate for reflecting your brutality with erudite accuracy and efficiency.

  • Tena koe, Tauiwi

No whea koe? respect tangata whenua he manuwhiri koe.

  • European genocides have defined the past 20,000 years with cannibalism, child molestation (go take a look at the Church paedophile rings of the last few years ...open your eyes and quit your attempts to clean up your own back yard) ...this Woman has NEVER said that any kind of Colonizing Imperial violence is o.k ...not anywhere, not no how ...YOU are attempting to bad mouth someone cos YOU are very very sick in your Heart ...ae, kia piki te ora.

  • oh sorry, sent a message to Epochofbelief ...put it in the wrong box ...arohamai.

  • all good yo and yes European genocides have being going on with the white people along long time

  • Oh I see, colonisation causes Maoris to kill their children. Of course it's so obvious. The stats are irrefutable and appalling and to blame another ethnicity for what is obviously a product of a savage, neolithic race and culture, instead of holding yourselves accountable, is to perpetuate the problem.

  • The oneness - that's it - no more no less

  • Hongi is a religion in a neighborhood called Altwar in Dubai, United Arab Emirates xD

  • Kiaora her name is Dr Rangimarie Turuki Rose Pere,

not Ringamarie not Peri i mentioned this in the other post, but thatnk you for posting this video.
