Well, I have many resonings for hating it...but yeah, I'll pretty much not like the film no matter what people say. I will say, however, it had great visuals. That's it. And yeah, Batman is much better but I'll be a Flash fan till I die...
Yes, I did hear about that Superman. I also read the script that J.J. Abrams wrote and was completely scared by how audacious that man was. But, really, Singer's Superman was no better. It made me die a little inside. Rather SR was a "New Direction" is hogwash because the spirit was gone. I'm a guy who owns two copies of Action Comics #1, Superman #1, the entire saga of the Death and Return of Superman and all the films. I'm a true fan, and what Singer did...it was monotone and blasphomous!
Byran Singer? Seriously? That guy is a horrible director! I'm sorry, but, being a big fan of Superman, he completely killed the character in perhaps the first 10 minutes. The best thing he'd done was Apt Pupil...much of it relied on Ian McKellen. But seriously, the last person you should be inspired by is Michael Bay...followed by Singer very close. In the meantime, if you really want to learn how to make a movie, watch John Carpenter!
I do watch MANY other directors and this list can't fit everyone in just twelve... but these people are on the list for very specific reasons... times in my life their work effected me.. single films or moments or career moves that inspired... etc... I agree with much you say here... and John Carpenter is awesome.. saw THE THING at 5 and was mortified.
I'd recommend (after successfully meeting one of my idols, a famous author) keeping it sort of "between pros." Your info page here says you'll "beg plead and whine" for Bryan to meet you. That's probably beneath you. I am sure Bryan will respond better to a professional request. He'll feel odd if you plead. Ok how would I know? I wouldn't. Gut feeling. Hope you get to meet all 12!
