This match was played in from of 72,906 in spite of a train strike, which restricted attendance at other games. On the whole, it's surprising Collingwood scored so well in its games with the Blues in the late 1980s, when one looks at the ladders.
@guodade No other game that round drew more than 18000 (taking into account games in Sydney and the Gold Coast), no other game that day in the Melbourne area drew more than 15000 (Geelong had over 17000).
very good , enjoy'd watching this game game I felt if collingwood had of overcome carlton in the semi they were a big chance against hawthorn in the second semi , may have change history
Ive been going to the footy sice '84 and never, and i mean never even at the '90 grand final have i heard a roar like the one when Starcevich kicks his 3rd. The best game i have ever been to.
A day that Collingwood supporters will never forget I can still hear the roar and get the goosebumps when Starcevich went BANG BANG BANG in 2 minutes :-)
Yep the roar of the crowd still sends tinges up my spine like it did 22 years ago. The only roar I hae heard to match it was Rocca's goal in Q3 of the 2002 PF
Thanks mate, my dad can be seen going nuts after The big star fish kicked his second of the qtr. I was to young to go to this match but dad gets out this on the vhs every now and then, always tells me theres nothing like beating the scum of carlton. Thanks for the efforts mate.
i got the record from this match
