  • Good video. Seldom talked about and something I wish to cover in detail in my videos to come.

  • Thank you for this very interesting video, i love your spirit

    My best from the Nederlands

  • Good tips there!! I..Must.. Adapt.. the rule of three is excellent. Nice editing, cool how the letters creeped in there haha.

    Thx for uploading!!

  • Good info partner. Thanks for the vids!

  • I've got a friend that needs coffee every 33 minutes. You forgot that in your rule of 3's ;-)

The 3 weeks without food is somewhat optimistic, I believe. I once went one day without food (while hiking w backpack) and was a total mess at the end of the day. Now they say you recover a little after your first dip but 3 weeks...?

Survival mentality is also about being (staying) positive and having a strong will to get yourself out of trouble.

    Thanx for the great vids.

  • I am sorry for your losses. I am praying for your whole family. Great video with good advise. Keep up the great video's.

  • @woodsman500 i like your comment. i felt a thumbs up wasnt good enough so i commented myself... amen

  • Hi all,

It's good to be back home again, though I sure had a blessed time at my old "home place" too.

Thanks for your prayers and love and well wishes regarding my Mom. I had such a precious time with her and my family! Her body continues to break down, but her spirit is strong and we all appreciate your prayers.

    blessings to all,

    Tamar

  • a simple leaf from a tree has hundreds of uses, think outside the box

    good speech

  • Very well said brother! All the "stuff" that anyone can buy is nothing without the know how of implementation. Both you and Tam are in my prayers, as well as the rest of your families.

  • Thanks Dave

  • gr8 vid.Thanks.Got me to buck up my Ideas and stop feeling sorry 4 myself.

  • ((my Eagle))

  • David - Thanks for an educated and experienced view of the Survival Mentality. It has always frustrated me to see all the "survival" and "preparedness" experts put such a high priority on food! - Keep your core body temperature in check, get some water.. and for people like me - enjoy the forced diet!

  • feb 10 is my b day!!!

  • Another great video Dave! Wonderful advice...Adapt and over come was taught to those of us in a survival course in the USMC. We were also taught that the way that keeps you alive is the right way! The shelter may have been useful the first night, but you may see a way to improve on it the next day to help keep you warmer the next night. Once again adapt and overcome!

Our Prayers are with you and yours as they always are.

  • yah I agree I have found that the life we lead rides on the waves We create with in that wave. Use the wave and know it provides what you need, even if you don't know you need it, on time every time. Life sets you up to succeed, you can fail if you really try to. to some that is sucess. May the waves of your life be all that you can be!! thanks Stand tall, be your self and you will be true to your path. May the Universe fill you with love and the dimension keep u

  • Great vid and info. The mind truly is the greatest weapon and tool of the survivalist. We dont have the fur feathers fangs and claws that animals have. It is our GOD giving ability to reason that makes us able to overcome any thing. Thanks for the video my brother and Tam is in our prayers.

  • GOOD JOB DAVE

  • Dave Thanks for this video. I have good

intent and direction but need the knowledge and "metal" to be ready.

I pray for Tam and family. Keep the

faith that we all can survive.

  • Also point is, that after few days man is seriously impaired in thinking, planning, performance. Also, other time i was out of food just 2 days, then i got to showel some gravel, and i remember being weak as fly.

  • A nice slice of humble pie.

  • the direction america is going, more and more people are going to need these skills from all range of society...very inspiring videos, also for people living in the city!

  • Thanks a lot David for your videos and the time you spent on it. It´s great to see and learn different ways of everything. I´m teaching Survival and Bushcraft in Austria and really appreciate your movies.

Please sent all my thoughts to Tam and her family........I´ll pray for her.

    greetings from Austria

    Mike

  • Thank YOU very much!!! With all that has/is going on in your life. You still take the time to give us a valuable lesson. You have my prayers.

  • Agreed,,thanks for taking the time to talk to us even with a family concern.much appreciated Dave..a great message for us all to ponder...all our thoughts and prayers to Tam etc...

  • Excellent video David. Great tips especially to the younger folks starting out in bushcraft and survivalist!

  • To add to the rule of three's I have always heard bad things come in three's. Hope that is not true but if it is may God be with you, Tam, and family. I will be praying for all of you.

  • Great vid. First, give my thoughts to Tam and her family. Living in MO you must know that every furrow you plow has rocks, just like life. Its the crop thats important, not the rocks. About the shelter concept, maybe it would be easier for some (me) to think of it as ENVIRONMENT. We need to create an environment around us that is livable, including the things you mention like clothing, shelter from the wind and rain, build a fire to maintain body temp, etc. Good to see ya again!

  • Great video Dave as always! Thanks!

  • Another great video Dave. Bless you and yours.

  • good luck to tams mom hope its a quick and painless when she does die and no not wishing her dead

could medical marijuana help ease her pain?

its been proven to help so stfu haters if a person is in pain shouldn't they get help?

if i didnt have shitty luck id have no luck i got the mentality

kewl paul is a sub of mine smart guy wish i could make it im so broke that when i put out a cigarette my cat meows to turn the heat back on :P

  • never give up", words to live by

  • A good lesson for the bush as well as for everyday life. Will continue to pray for you and Tam and family.

    Blessings to you Brother.

  • speaking of knifes for digging. My main digging tool is a cold steel GI tainto. cheap to buy, easy to pack. its wider than your average tainto, stays fairly sharp threw all the abuse, i can still use it for a spear, batton wood, or cut cordage with it.

small mora, Gi tainto, folding saw, 20" wetterlings, and a 24" PVC tube bow saw, 4 way file/rasp, and a diamond sharpner, and im good to go

  • good video Dave...God bless you and your family.

  • may his noodly appendage be up on you.

  • Amen Dave :)

  • God bless you all Dave :(

I hope everything works out for you.

I'll say a prayer for you.

  • God bless you folks! -- Luke 18:1

  • Brother Dave - Prayers to Tam and her mom. ~BQ

  • In South Carolina the 3 hours could really be 3 weeks

  • This is one of my favorite youtube channels. You're a good man. I will continue to keep you and Tam in my prayers.

  • Nice, thanks!

  • This is truth folks. Listen to these words.

    Endure, Adapt, Overcome

  • Dave, you and your extended family are in my prayers. I'm sorry to hear about all of the losses, and I hope her mom can get better. You're truly a gift to the survival community, great video... You're a great guy and thank you for sharing your insight and skills on Youtube =).

    -Zach

  • May the journey of your loved one be gentle and filled with the sights and sounds of loved ones...

    Blessings on you all.

  • Excellent stuff. Mindset is number one. If with a group, it's good to be able to identify those without the mindset. Many who have not considered a survival situation and only know one way, their way, could reduce the odds for the rest, even if there would be plenty of resources to draw upon.

  • Dave I really enjoy your videos and the knowledge and skills you so generously put forward. I know there are lots of people in Haiti who need to use survival skills right now. God Bless

  • "Adapt and Overcome" is a way of life. It's a Marines' motto. The rules of 3's apply daily, most people forget and assume they always have them. Some times Little Brother just needs to remind me. Some times it is hard to see the Forest because of the Tree. Nice Graphics. Nice Jacket and which knife were you necking there? A Mora? Andy

  • You and your Family will be in my prayers !

  • I really enjoy your videos from you and your great family Dave. This is another solid video that proves my previous statement. Thanks for all that you do.

  • Oh, another fantastic video.

Umm, Dave Canterbury had something about mentality, but You probably know that.

Nevertheless this is very good explanation.

  • You are absolutely right on. Positive outlook on life. Thanks for the vids and Bless You and Yours and special prayers to Tam and her loved ones.

  • Great video, a lot of common sense shown.Thanks.

  • I agree that survival mentality is just as important as skill. Thanks for the vids. Sorry about your losses. Well wishes.

  • Great discussion and Tam is in our prayers my friend god bless.

  • Dave....I simply love your videos. I really like your clarity and common sense. I will pray for Tam tonight.

  • Praying for you and your family.

    God bless you.

  • great video dave so true that the idea of 1 person knowing everything is just crazy to many ways to do everything just know way you could know everything as long as it works for you then it works thats the way i see it. also my prayers go out to tam and the famliy i hope that thing will get better soon

  • Dave, Thank you. My heart goes out to you and Tam.

  • Wonderful subject and thank you for reminding all of us that it's not just a "in the bush" thing it's the way we need to be everyday in everything we do. Sending prayers for you all my friend.

  • Very good lesson.

  • Our prayers go out for your wife, look to the Lord, Psa 55:1-2. Great video the mind is the most important tool of all. 5/5

  • the reasons i like a traditional kukri set up small utility knife a steal and a tinderpouch keep in the sheath and the kukri itself is an axe a draw knife a defensive/offensive weapon they have fine strong tips and broad flat area thats perfect for a makeshift shouvel/digging stick not only that but some sheaths have a cicular area that i am told is for a small one foot long blow pipe(i dunno if thats true or useful) thats perfest to sheath a fero rod
