I've got a friend that needs coffee every 33 minutes. You forgot that in your rule of 3's ;-)
The 3 weeks without food is somewhat optimistic, I believe. I once went one day without food (while hiking w backpack) and was a total mess at the end of the day. Now they say you recover a little after your first dip but 3 weeks...?
Survival mentality is also about being (staying) positive and having a strong will to get yourself out of trouble.
It's good to be back home again, though I sure had a blessed time at my old "home place" too.
Thanks for your prayers and love and well wishes regarding my Mom. I had such a precious time with her and my family! Her body continues to break down, but her spirit is strong and we all appreciate your prayers.
survive in every aspect of your life....that is so true. a wonderful video..great job.! thanks for posting it. your family will be in my prayers.. take care..
Very well said brother! All the "stuff" that anyone can buy is nothing without the know how of implementation. Both you and Tam are in my prayers, as well as the rest of your families.
David - Thanks for an educated and experienced view of the Survival Mentality. It has always frustrated me to see all the "survival" and "preparedness" experts put such a high priority on food! - Keep your core body temperature in check, get some water.. and for people like me - enjoy the forced diet!
Another great video Dave! Wonderful advice...Adapt and over come was taught to those of us in a survival course in the USMC. We were also taught that the way that keeps you alive is the right way! The shelter may have been useful the first night, but you may see a way to improve on it the next day to help keep you warmer the next night. Once again adapt and overcome!
Our Prayers are with you and yours as they always are.
yah I agree I have found that the life we lead rides on the waves We create with in that wave. Use the wave and know it provides what you need, even if you don't know you need it, on time every time. Life sets you up to succeed, you can fail if you really try to. to some that is sucess. May the waves of your life be all that you can be!! thanks Stand tall, be your self and you will be true to your path. May the Universe fill you with love and the dimension keep u
Great vid and info. The mind truly is the greatest weapon and tool of the survivalist. We dont have the fur feathers fangs and claws that animals have. It is our GOD giving ability to reason that makes us able to overcome any thing. Thanks for the video my brother and Tam is in our prayers.
Also point is, that after few days man is seriously impaired in thinking, planning, performance. Also, other time i was out of food just 2 days, then i got to showel some gravel, and i remember being weak as fly.
the direction america is going, more and more people are going to need these skills from all range of society...very inspiring videos, also for people living in the city!
Thanks a lot David for your videos and the time you spent on it. It´s great to see and learn different ways of everything. I´m teaching Survival and Bushcraft in Austria and really appreciate your movies.
Please sent all my thoughts to Tam and her family........I´ll pray for her.
Agreed,,thanks for taking the time to talk to us even with a family concern.much appreciated Dave..a great message for us all to ponder...all our thoughts and prayers to Tam etc...
To add to the rule of three's I have always heard bad things come in three's. Hope that is not true but if it is may God be with you, Tam, and family. I will be praying for all of you.
Great vid. First, give my thoughts to Tam and her family. Living in MO you must know that every furrow you plow has rocks, just like life. Its the crop thats important, not the rocks. About the shelter concept, maybe it would be easier for some (me) to think of it as ENVIRONMENT. We need to create an environment around us that is livable, including the things you mention like clothing, shelter from the wind and rain, build a fire to maintain body temp, etc. Good to see ya again!
speaking of knifes for digging. My main digging tool is a cold steel GI tainto. cheap to buy, easy to pack. its wider than your average tainto, stays fairly sharp threw all the abuse, i can still use it for a spear, batton wood, or cut cordage with it.
small mora, Gi tainto, folding saw, 20" wetterlings, and a 24" PVC tube bow saw, 4 way file/rasp, and a diamond sharpner, and im good to go
Dave, you and your extended family are in my prayers. I'm sorry to hear about all of the losses, and I hope her mom can get better. You're truly a gift to the survival community, great video... You're a great guy and thank you for sharing your insight and skills on Youtube =).
Excellent stuff. Mindset is number one. If with a group, it's good to be able to identify those without the mindset. Many who have not considered a survival situation and only know one way, their way, could reduce the odds for the rest, even if there would be plenty of resources to draw upon.
Dave I really enjoy your videos and the knowledge and skills you so generously put forward. I know there are lots of people in Haiti who need to use survival skills right now. God Bless
"Adapt and Overcome" is a way of life. It's a Marines' motto. The rules of 3's apply daily, most people forget and assume they always have them. Some times Little Brother just needs to remind me. Some times it is hard to see the Forest because of the Tree. Nice Graphics. Nice Jacket and which knife were you necking there? A Mora? Andy
I really enjoy your videos from you and your great family Dave. This is another solid video that proves my previous statement. Thanks for all that you do.
great video dave so true that the idea of 1 person knowing everything is just crazy to many ways to do everything just know way you could know everything as long as it works for you then it works thats the way i see it. also my prayers go out to tam and the famliy i hope that thing will get better soon
Wonderful subject and thank you for reminding all of us that it's not just a "in the bush" thing it's the way we need to be everyday in everything we do. Sending prayers for you all my friend.
the reasons i like a traditional kukri set up small utility knife a steal and a tinderpouch keep in the sheath and the kukri itself is an axe a draw knife a defensive/offensive weapon they have fine strong tips and broad flat area thats perfect for a makeshift shouvel/digging stick not only that but some sheaths have a cicular area that i am told is for a small one foot long blow pipe(i dunno if thats true or useful) thats perfest to sheath a fero rod
Good video. Seldom talked about and something I wish to cover in detail in my videos to come.
