Even though I think it's one of the best movies ever made, it's too bad that it's a movie about how two older men destroyed a young woman. Possibly a Freudian slip by Hitchcock about his own life?
I find it odd, however, that I can't find the scene where Scotty first sees Madeline in the restaurant. It's one of the most famous, most powerful scenes ever made in a movie. I know exactly how Scotty felt.
Bernard Hermann could translate deep emotion directly into music ... a true genius. Vertigo was possibly the best movie ever made in Hollywood. I've been in love with Kim Novak since I was a little kid. My favorite scene is when Scotty first sees Madeline in the restaurant.
I love that young people who have NO idea who Hitchcock, Novac and Stewart were, will be experiencing this amazing score in the new movie The Artist. I'm hoping and praying that the youngin's will stream Vertigo to their tablets and enjoy a masterful movie.
The recording dates were 9 and 10 January 2007 in London's Cadogan Hall. Not sure of the release date but presumably the CD came out about a year later.

@Cramnella The movie was from about 1957, if that's what you're asking.
