@Ryknfjor all of these tests (that i've seen if i well remember) were executed with a good amateur bike rider driving a car (the scuderia) in an undecent way..i think it's a shame..it would have been done in an hilarious way..you can see a lot of "tests" in which the car wins anyway..but the fact is if you go to a circuit (clearly not in usa..where riders are good..at least as much as drivers are awful) recorded times speak clearly..you can see with your own eyes..even in fast tracks...

@Ryknfjor it depends on the track, then it's not a superleggera but a normal gallardo 1st serie, 500hp, 3-4s slower than the superleggera in a 1.30s track guy..and when i speak about a slow circuit i mean a slow circuit..anyway even in the ring you can check the record times..and the advantage is huge..

@Ryknfjor speedos are limited..not the bikes..it's not an ecu restriction as for the cars(or few bikes)..once you get 299 the speedo stops, but the engine goes on pushin..the problem is that the most of the bikes got a 30 or more mistake on speedo..the famous hayabusa reaches + than 340km/h on speedo..but at the same time it's at 303km/h..modern 1000cc reaches 299 quickly, but you are 30 km/h before..if speedos weren t locked you'll see 320-330..but there's practically no bike goin more than 295
@pazzoallaguida well yeah its true for most but how much further do you know its going? bikes are off by a % not a set velocity... i think a MV Agusta 312R going 312kph wont be lying to you since it OFFICIALLY goes that speed. stock. if not i would never buy from them cuz theyd be lying thus losing any credibility MV ever had. and people arent stupid it wont just 'say' it on the speedo- they MUST have used an official GPS to record it.
@Ryknfjor 1st..gps aren t so precise at all (like navigators,many times even not linked to the abs sensors), in order to recorder speed there are the laser telemeters..2nd-the official datas are wrong (and the mistake is even big) in many cases, from almost every brand, bikes or cars..3rd-i told the most of the bike, clearly NOT every bike..and finally, it's clear the mistake is in %..but on the practical side the mistake at the top speed is the one i described for these cases.
@pazzoallaguida A stock 312R went 197mph at the salt flats, another confirms 320kph and the speedo and gps indicated same velocity. stock. i dont think the actual top speed of a literbike is 167mph considering a 2002 r6 ( on youtube) went 172mph indicated gps..... they dont run of cables coming from the hub anymore im more than sure the technology is there for getting accurate speed. its only common sense. a laser is only good if you aim it at the right angle otherwise, its a wrong speed.
@Ryknfjor strange..every official time is calculated with laser telemeter guy..and as for the salt lake you have to consider the different tyres..specially made for the record on that kind of terrain and clearly with low rolling resistance..it's not a case the records are made on salt lakes,not only for the generous dimensions..as for the r6 in every test it reached no more than 265-270km/h..as every sports 600cc..on tacho..well..my 636 went even 290..but if you believe it's the true speed..

Im sry you are wrong but dont forget the nürburgring is a cartrack and yes after a bit research i found out that Helmut Dähne has the lap record of the ring timed at 7.45.But this was on a old RC30 from early 90s. At that time fastest cars had 8 + . The problem is that record runs for motos are forbidden since 1994 so there are no serious time of a bike. So you cant compare NR times.

i watch motogp every week end with out fail obv not at the min as the season has ended but the 800cc avrage between 8 and 10secs faster than the 250cc

@ThePacman994 The laptimes between the bikes would not be the same at all. The power is going to make a difference (big difference) on the long straights. Will also make a very big differnce out of the corners too.

the best car i have dusted was a Ferrari 360 along twisties and straights. the twisties we were pretty even. he was ahead of me. seen me coming and went for it. i stuck with him... i dont think he was a good driver though. but on the straights i would fly past him. and a few corners later i left him.. well he gave up. but not many cars race bikes. except stupid body kitted cars. with a loud exhaust. not really worth mentioning.

a bike engine is designed differently to a cars where the bore of the engine has more space on the side so the pistons move alot quicker and with the stroke this is also the case, and when the light weight of the bike comes into play the car cannot compete as you ve just seen with the ducati vs the viper.

Technically. A Kawasaki ZX-14 or a Hayabusa equipped with a turbo could outrun 90 percent of cars but wouldnt be able well at all. Then again those bikes are made fro srtaight line riding. A Turbo version of those bikes can accel them well over 230.

@Ryknfjor all of these tests (that i've seen if i well remember) were executed with a good amateur bike rider driving a car (the scuderia) in an undecent way..i think it's a shame..it would have been done in an hilarious way..you can see a lot of "tests" in which the car wins anyway..but the fact is if you go to a circuit (clearly not in usa..where riders are good..at least as much as drivers are awful) recorded times speak clearly..you can see with your own eyes..even in fast tracks...

@Ryknfjor it depends on the track, then it's not a superleggera but a normal gallardo 1st serie, 500hp, 3-4s slower than the superleggera in a 1.30s track guy..and when i speak about a slow circuit i mean a slow circuit..anyway even in the ring you can check the record times..and the advantage is huge..

I know cars can do it with their naturally high yielding cornering speeds, but 250hp isnt enuff to beat 'any bike' unless its in a REAL small frame, ariel atom or smaller.

@Ryknfjor speedos are limited..not the bikes..it's not an ecu restriction as for the cars(or few bikes)..once you get 299 the speedo stops, but the engine goes on pushin..the problem is that the most of the bikes got a 30 or more mistake on speedo..the famous hayabusa reaches + than 340km/h on speedo..but at the same time it's at 303km/h..modern 1000cc reaches 299 quickly, but you are 30 km/h before..if speedos weren t locked you'll see 320-330..but there's practically no bike goin more than 295

@Ryknfjor 1st..gps aren t so precise at all (like navigators,many times even not linked to the abs sensors), in order to recorder speed there are the laser telemeters..2nd-the official datas are wrong (and the mistake is even big) in many cases, from almost every brand, bikes or cars..3rd-i told the most of the bike, clearly NOT every bike..and finally, it's clear the mistake is in %..but on the practical side the mistake at the top speed is the one i described for these cases.

@pazzoallaguida A stock 312R went 197mph at the salt flats, another confirms 320kph and the speedo and gps indicated same velocity. stock. i dont think the actual top speed of a literbike is 167mph considering a 2002 r6 ( on youtube) went 172mph indicated gps..... they dont run of cables coming from the hub anymore im more than sure the technology is there for getting accurate speed. its only common sense. a laser is only good if you aim it at the right angle otherwise, its a wrong speed.

@Ryknfjor strange..every official time is calculated with laser telemeter guy..and as for the salt lake you have to consider the different tyres..specially made for the record on that kind of terrain and clearly with low rolling resistance..it's not a case the records are made on salt lakes,not only for the generous dimensions..as for the r6 in every test it reached no more than 265-270km/h..as every sports 600cc..on tacho..well..my 636 went even 290..but if you believe it's the true speed..

OH NO they changed their tires!! there isnt even enough % of rolling resistance in tires to make a difference-thats more so in the bearings to the rims, just dont buy Maxxis'. the other guy wasnt at the salt flats when he got to 320. AND altitude even more so plays a bigger role @ salt flats.

Im sry you are wrong but dont forget the nürburgring is a cartrack and yes after a bit research i found out that Helmut Dähne has the lap record of the ring timed at 7.45.But this was on a old RC30 from early 90s. At that time fastest cars had 8 + . The problem is that record runs for motos are forbidden since 1994 so there are no serious time of a bike. So you cant compare NR times.

Do you know ?, in many tracks the record is done by a car like Ariel Atom, R500 or Gumpert Apollo?
Car is faster in the corner, bike in the straight way (usually bike have better power/weight ratio)
nürburgring is a faster track with long straight line, bikes are good in this track.
And yes, bike are cheaper compared to the fasters car.
I'm not pro car or bike, i enjoy in the track with both ;)

BTW U can buy a 188hp bike for 10.000,- Euro it accerlates in 7.3 sec to 200 kph. ( only a 1.500.000,00 Veyron accerlates as fast ). And have to modify a car very very much if you want to compare the speed. And very very much modifying means a very very short lifetime.
And do not forget you can modify a bike too.
So think about the 500hp Busa( GR ) how fast it is when a 188hp Kawa can accelerate so fast NOOB

the best car i have dusted was a Ferrari 360 along twisties and straights. the twisties we were pretty even. he was ahead of me. seen me coming and went for it. i stuck with him... i dont think he was a good driver though. but on the straights i would fly past him. and a few corners later i left him.. well he gave up. but not many cars race bikes. except stupid body kitted cars. with a loud exhaust. not really worth mentioning.

Cars can easily cut many corner and jump over kerb with 2 wheels outside the track, bike can't.
And the most importat things that allow cars be so faster in the corner is the aerodinamic.
Bikes can only have mechanical grip by tires.
A good car with serious aerodinamic wing, have tires grip + downforce from air.
But, yes i'm talking about specialized track car.

ever heard of power to weight ratio 250 2 strokes, have a power band thats just like a turbo in a car. and forget bout 250s for a sec try racing a 600cc yamaha r6 or honda rr let alone the litre bikes!

a bike engine is designed differently to a cars where the bore of the engine has more space on the side so the pistons move alot quicker and with the stroke this is also the case, and when the light weight of the bike comes into play the car cannot compete as you ve just seen with the ducati vs the viper.

maybe you misunderstanding what i ve said your 911 will be faster than the 250 s yep thats true ( 4 stroke 250 ) and the 2 stroke 250s will only beat you till about 60km/hr then your 911 will pass them> BUT if its a 600cc sports bike or better still a 1000 they will beat you all the way as you seen with the ducati theres NO comparison. David Muscat (1098)is a great french rider, like James Ruffier(viper).
Moreover the 1098 is prepared for the french championnish, the Viper is totally stock with road tires (the ducati has slicks)
