Big Freshman fan but this song has to be one of their poorest efforts. Am I off base on this? Glad they don't do it now. Long live the freshman hope they can figure out how to appeal to the next generation.
This is cool, but the lyrical alteration makes no sense. "Forgivin is easy/She's a woman like now and then might happen to things"?!? What the hey does that mean? Should be "it's a woman-like, now and then might happen thing." Why change it? These lyric writers knew what they're doing, that's why they were working with the likes of Hoagy Carmichael.
The first who sung the song was Carmen Mc Rae in 1937!!!!! U MUST listen to that. For me she is the best jazz vocalist EVER (with all due respect to billie, aretha , nina and other great women)
That is the lead voice of Don Barbour. No. 3 from the left in the picture shown. He is the lower voice you will hear in their songs. Yes he is very Cool.
Hoagy Charmichael (excuse the spelling). It is so hard to find this wonderful song and the incredible rendition by the Four Freshmen. Thank you so much
I loved Don Barbour's voice, . . . thanks to youtube we can still enjoy his wonderful voice.

Do you know who originally performed this song? I heard it first on George Harrison's "Somewhere in England" album. Thanks

@bj490tube Words and Music Carmichael/Webster. First performed by Hoagy Carmichael in 1938/42/44. Not sure. This version sounds like Hoagy's a bit.
