There is always someone who will adopt a child severely handicapped or not. Every child has a right to live even if to teach someone compassion. Their purpose in life should not be ended because of what a doctor says, they often are wrong. My 1st son died of Leukemia at the age of 7 years. It wasn't detected until he was 6 years old but I would have given my own life rather then stop his at any point. His life had meaning though short. No life is meaningless.

people make that very hard decision for many reasons BuddhaBabie, my very best friend has just ended a pregnancy at 16 weeks as her AFP results and invasive tests devestated her with the news her unborn baby girl was severly handicapped, she did not murder her unborn foetus Squishy chocolate, she chose to terminate because the baby would have no quality of life whatsoever, may not have even survived the birth so don't tar everyone with the same brush. She is beside herself.

While I have never had an abortion, and am now personally 16 weeks pregnant and very happy about it, I find the judgment and assumptions in these comments to be sad.

@epMacD I know a girl who had an abortion who was raped at 15 by her father and became pregnant. She (thanks to abstinence only sex ed-class) didn't know about the morning after pill or how to go about getting one. When she told her mother what had happed after realizing she was pregnant, her mom took her in for an abortion (7 weeks) and then kicked her out of the house for "seducing her father". The girl ended up homeless. Count your lucky starts if you've never been in that situation.

I really don't understand why ppl get abortions. I mean I know why but I don't. If a man ejaculates in a woman, she can easily take the morning after pill JUST IN CASE. But then again why did you go unprotected in the first place. If you really didnt want to have a baby, a male would wear a condom even if the woman is on birth control, because there is still a possibility of pregnancy. There are so many ways for a pregnancy to be avoided that it makes no sense for ppl to get abortions.
