Bush maybe an idiot, and some of the republicans as well. But if you guys think that with diplomacy and reasoning you will be able to maintain peace in the world. Wake up.
Oh boy. You need to wake up. Lack of diplomacy and reasoning is what got us into this mess.. Take some time to read up on your recent history before you make such comments.

If a dictator says "-I will win the third world war" or another " We will destroy Israel and the USA in our holly war"
dictators with thousands of followers and often billions of dollars to use.
Are you guys are completely out of your mind? Screw the differences between the democrats and the republicans. The people who threatening your lives are not school bullies.
The USA should sit back and look at the world from an armchair. If dictators like Hitler would emerge, everybody needs to wait until there is a solid proof of weapons of mass destruction. For some retarded idiots the only acceptable proof would be if they already see a mushroom cloud on the horizon. If they children are vomiting from biological weapons ....etc.
Looks like overconfidence and stupidity ruined this plan as it take a greater general to know its better to avoid battles that he cannot win.
Being an empire has not done us much good at home or abroad, It has weaken our liberty and prosperity our own reputation. Time to toss Julius and Augustus out the door and welcome Cicero & Cincinnatus back where they belong.

Hey Einstein, you're so full of crap you have no freaking idea of what you are talking about. You are trying to put a western spin on a culture that is motivated by nothing we in the west understand. It's proven that al-Q is now infiltrating the local tribes thru marriage. Those who were once enemies, now because of marriage and culture, are now allies. Thus a chance to change minds. Go take another bong hit. You have no clue what you're talking about.
On Oct 1 Homeland Security opens a new office called the National Applications Office charged with domestic intelligence gathering.
NAO will approve law enforcement requests to access spy satellite data (which can see within INCHES of the ground). That approval will be granted through inhouse review, WITH NO JUDICIAL OVERSIGHT.
This is a clear violation of the Posse Comitatus Act.
POLICE WILL BE ALLOWED TO LOOK INTO YOUR BACKYARD WITH NO WARRANT, NO COURT ORDER, NO JUDICIAL OVERSIGHT, NO JOKE!
When my nephew was in Iraq early on with the Marines he was told to watch out for people dressed all in black. Seems strange king george is in all black..
O man you havent been reading your news. Come on man you dont understand Bush S.r Friends gave Bush junior some oil buisness which he failed in achieving thier goals>?
well that's not completely correct contrary to popular anti-war belief...You must remember this is about the Arab-Israeli conflict and since the USA supports Israel, we have become involved in this fighting. Note how all the US enemies, Syria, Iran, Iraq are the same nations that oppose Israel. Now before I recieve the inevitable accusations of racism and anti-semitism for even venturing such a statement remember: 1) Judaism is a religion not a race and 2; Arabs are Semites aslo.
Interesting news... and, whatever some people write, even if Pepe is in the Green Zone... being reporter is still a very dangerous job out there! In other words: he has my respects! - Very best regards from DIMschool Belgium -
"We shouldn't politicize the war. We should listen to the Generals." - Bush
"The President is holding our Soldiers hostage to his ego." - Major Gen. Paul Eaton. (Former Iraq War Commander)
"The President vetoed our troops and the American people. His stubborn commitment to a failed strategy in Iraq is incomprehensible." - Major Gen. John Batiste. 2nd Highest Ranking Military Official in Iraq
"US Can't Win Iraq War Because Most Iraqis Oppose US Troops"
In the fall of 2000, Saddam started selling oil for Euros. That was his fatal mistake. Literally. Bush was trying to figure out an excuse to invade Iraq in Jan. of 2001. Iran is now selling oil for yen and perhaps Euros. The US dollar is falling like a rock. Friday it reached its lowest level vs. other currencies in 15 years. That does not bode well for Iran or for US citizens.
The solution would be to send Senator George Mitchell to Iraq to figure out a peace plan between the Shiite's, Sunni's and Kurds. Perhaps bring the principal players to Paris and talk. Also to include the U.N. in sending in troops without American interference. The bottom line is the US foreign policy is not trusted in the Middle East. We have too much allegiance to Israel for any Muslim country to trust us. Maybe send in troops from Indonesia?
mick2kyche, what you said is one of the lies of the Iraq War - "if you haven't got a solution, don't speak". It is not Pepe Escobar's job to give us solutions. A lesson in democracy for you:
Journalists ask questions and expose lies, so that voters - armed with the truth - elect and pressure politicians to come up with solutions. That is the job of politicians.
In the Iraq War, there have been few journalists telling the truth and few politicians coming up with rational strategy!
earthling00, without intelligent selection and contextualization of the important facts regarding the Iraq situation, most voters will have no realistic ability to decide which politician will offer the best solution. Journalist deal with the news all day as professionals: they have the time and hopefully the capacity to both gather facts and analyze them. This guy does no analysis (beyond selecting exclusively negative facts to report).
How much oil revenue is Iraq generating? Who's managing this and who are the beneficaries of this revenue? How much is the national government seeing? How much if any flows back to the U.S.? Seems like some very basic questions but I haven't seen an inkling of this data anywhere? Are we just too distracted from these basic questions? Perhaps RealNews can help people understand this.
The new alliance with Anbar's sheiks indicates that the Sunnis have finally recognized who their true adversary is (the Shias) and are getting organized to cleanse themselves of terrorist elements so that they can compete effectively with the Shias for power in Iraq. Next election, unlike the last one, all Sunnis will vote and create a power block in the government. This will permit the possibility of peace.
Note that this guy did not offer a single constructive suggestion about how to improve the situation in Iraq. He simply listed some of the current problems. The principle hurdle is raised by the current Iraqi government, on which the two main Shiite militias have a stranglehold. The government is being used by these militias to ethnically cleanse Sunni areas and starve Sunni towns and police forces of funding. The Shiites are positioning themselves to win the final rounds of the civil war.
Fix the current problems. How about that? We wouldn't have the current situation if we didn't go. We didn't have a reason to go in the first place. Who should win the civil war?
Would you have wanted the British to help the South during our civil war?
