Programming consists of hours and hours (per day), extending into months and year, hunting down and looking for a single command before one can proceed to the next step. I know. I've programmed in Fortran, C++, Java, Mathematics (Wolfram Research), Maple (MapleSoft), and Mathtype. 99.99% of my programming is in MS Word and Mathtype.

Math is infinitely better than programming.

Google was engineered to make finding information easier. Twitter was used to organize protest rallies during the Iran election scandals. No piece of data on a computer comes at you randomly. Everything had a designer, and those are the people you speak of.

Also there's medical software to look up medication dosages and other medical info. They make Doctor's life easier so they can take more accurate decisions. Ever been to india...his home is nice and the office is too but as soon as you get outside you'll notice india is still very poor....Look at the road he drives on to work...everywhere in india looks like that or poorer. @harryflyer not really...they get paid much less compared to other programmers in the EU and US but the amount Techlogic or whatever get paid for a batch job is paid in US dollars and is a huge sum (even if its only 30% of the price they would pay back home) when converted to Rupees so the Indian company can afford to pay its workers well. The workers get a 'dream' job. Remember India is extremely poor still...look at the road he drives to work on...everywhere is like that in India - or poorer.

starting at the age of 14 is good, i started at age of 10. Learn C++ and you will require quite some math, so things like Vectors, Matrices, etc; Don't fear the name C++, it looks hard, but it eventually all makes sense. Start off with the console, then eventually try out SDL for C++. Learn about pointers, dynamic memory and about classes, OOP, pm me and i will give more details if wanted.

if your typical day is really like this you dont get much done. in our company we dont need to clock in/out or have a lot of supervision, our company has 7 developers across 3 cities, every body has an office. we have 2 indian guys, the lead engineer is from bosnia, and the other four are white male american. our company is nice to work at but lazy ppl are put in the garbage before they get a large project. we communicate in IRC. good luck

At my last place of work, a caucasian software engineer was brought in to redevelop a 2 year old Biztalk system developed by a young Indian dev. The Caucasian dev, who had 20 years programming experience, scrapped the original codebase and developed a new system that worked better within 2 weeks.
