  • Who decided that "strangling animals" was okay but "masturbating" was not?

  • 3:49 -- "So I'm going to award the first prize this evening to the girl with the biggest tits."

    hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

  • Just finished writing an essay on 'Swann's Way'... 3.20am in Uni library. Had to watch this again. I should have just submitted Graham Chapman's lines over again to make up the word count.

  • I love the way he pronounces it "Prowst".

  • For some reason, the judges don't seem to be amused.

  • lightening Bill Bailey??? Is it actually possible that he is the Bill Bailey?

  • Proust makes me feel debauched. I hate Proust.

  • It's interesting that they left the racial slurs in ('dago' in the 'Sir Philip Sidney' sketch), 'strangling animals', but not 'masturbation'. They even left in 'bastards', 'bugger' and 'bitch' ('The Visitors' sketch).

  • "Proust in his first book wrote about, wrote about..." Superb.

  • When it was aired in Brazil in the early 1990s (Multishow cable station) it was uncensored. I remember this clearly.

  • This is a basic look at why Graham Chapman is my favorite Python.

Also, those are some fantastic sweater puppies.

  • She has a nice rack, certainly.

  • Christine O'Donnel would disapprove.

  • @JuliatheCoolest

    Alain de Botton approves though.

  • I so wish I could quote this for my Proust essay...

  • Strangling animals, golf and masturbating

  • Proust summed up: He goes to a bunch of parties thrown by aristocrats, and this one time he saw M. de Charlus engage in gay sex.

  • I'd enter this if the prize was the girl with the biggest tits.

  • reading proust at the moment find he is fustrating as hell.

  • i love this sketch :)

  • Omar Sharif

  • Thank you so much!

  • A perfect satire of the troubles of composers in setting texts polyphonically!

  • Golfs not very popular round here....classic line!!!

  • @missesgabriel Excellent! I'll check it out right away! Thanks!!

  • whats the name of the song they play around 1:30. its a song frequently used in the American "its always sunny in Philadelphia"

  • It reminds me of the Spitting Image sketch of Clive James' bid for poet laureate.

"If you wanna have a royal bard

Why not have someone who looks like a tub of lard

Someone who quotes Proust, Joyce and Nabokov

And still makes jokes about people who have it off

Tits, bum, willy, arse, sex, pooh

A la recherche du temps perdu."

  • ya gotta love the way Chapman looks stunned and disoriented after failing to fully 'encapsulate'...

  • very funny , but a shame they didn't show the swimsuit round as well!

  • Arthur Me... Chuckle, splutter, guffaw. :)

  • lol golf's not very popular around here...which means wanking is....XD

  • "Strangling animals, golf, and masturbating"

One of these things is not like the other.

One of these things truly gives pleasure.

  • @sydferret

    ...golf?

  • Sorry, try again.

Golf is a cover for organized crime meetings.

  • *LOL*

    Brilliant!

  • @Morias

    Strangling animals?

  • Yeah I agree. Bu u can can do two of those things in the same time. Like choking your chicken.

  • @RoboFH *rimshot*

  • strangling animals, golf and masturbation,,,,,,,,,,,,

Golfs not very popular around here.....

Im going to award the prize of the evening to the girl with the biggest tits!

    LEGEND.......STUFF OF LEGEND!

  • @Basiltyne

Can I take her home? XD

  • @TheCastellan heh heh. You might not want her now...

  • @usenetposts

Maybe she's a MILF, like Sophia Loren or something. XD

  • @TheCastellan more a GILF than a MILF, I'd say, but what I see on carolcleveland dotcom is something most of us would prefer to the average twenty year old working in a chip shop, it's quite true.

  • WTF? were they STILL so sensitive about that when they put it out on dvd? thank god I got a dvd with the whole intact line!

  • It was censored on the DVD box set that I have. Can anyone summarize Proust in 15 seconds?

  • sum up the whole collection of books in 15 sec? it's impossible (that's part of the joke).

  • Bless you for posting this!

  • So where did you find this uncensored airing?

  • "Proust in his first book wrote about, wrote about.."

  • very funny that masturbating is not ok to say on television, but strangling animals is ok lol

  • @cartmann94 isnt 'strangling animals' a euphemism for m**********n??

  • @artwel123 What is "m********m??" ? I must be thick tonight.

  • @ScooterZn Mr Bating

  • @artwel123 i gueess i meant m******n..

  • I think this came uncensored on a recent Region 4 DVD set

  • and why u say third season ? u mean SERIES 3! tv shows aren't seasonal lol....only in america!

  • ahahahah!! thank you! I always watched it censored!

  • ...but I think on the DVD it's uncensored, now...

  • This is my favorite episode from the third season. And I never saw the uncensored version of this scene. Thanks much!

  • Jones usually doesnt play that kind of role,I would have expected Palin

  • This is excellent! I just wish someone had the black spot sketch with "cancer" instead of "gangrene"..

  • It's about damn TIME somebody uploaded the uncensored version! Thank you!! Any chance of uploading the 'Army General As Clown' sketch in it's entirety?

  • I love that sketch, but I don't think I have that episode taped. Sorry.

  • YESSSSSSSSS

  • What year was it performed.

  • 1972.

  • Yes, it's pronounced "proos." It's on purpose!

  • what would I do without Monty Python?

  • isn't pronounced "proost?" silly brits.

  • yes, it's proust (rhyming with "boost")

  • Funny sketch, very funny for those who actually read 'A la recherche du temps perdu'. Thanks for posting!

  • jones and palin have simillar acting styles

  • Uncensored Python rocks!

  • "Golf's not very popular around here." XD

  • Every sketch can be improved by obscure literary references, tits and the Fred Tomlinson singers

  • hahaha, naiiiled it! :D

  • And poin-ted sticks!

  • @Tareltonlives

    I wouldn't consider Proust obscure.

  • "Mt. Everest — forbidding, aloof, terrifying; the mountain with the biggest tits in the world."

  • yes, that one is also brilliant ahah

  • Other than the masturbating part, I like how they make such a big deal on a French novelist which many Americans may not really know about

  • This American does. I'm on 2nd Volume of Proust. There's no way I could summarize it in 15 minutes, let alone seconds.

But girls with the biggest tits win out no matter what.

  • then again, they are european.

  • A friend of mine told me that she had to take a French exam on Proust, that she hadn't prepared, and that this sketch helped her -- though I hardly see how that could be true. P'r'aps the "strangling animals, golf and masturbating" line scared her prof. into giving her an A.

  • I have the only recently released flying circus box set and that's uncensored :D

I was so glad to be able to hear it as it should be.

  • Ah, I wasn't aware the new set had it uncensored. That's good to hear.

  • @19ThePurplePython93 which one is that? I need to get the right version.

  • @coolgamer1677 Monty Python Flying Circus: The Complete Boxset to give the full title, looks like one of them retro television sets of the 60's (at least the UK boxset does, not sure if it differs in other countries)

  • "Strangling animals, golf and masturbating"

Finally I can hear that sentence!
