  • and just like that... midi modifiers demystified haha thanks for the heads up on this from across the pond

  • Great video, thank you!

  • THANK YOU !

  • So here is a question I will try to explain in simple terms.

I have my top rotary on the xone set to fx param. 3.

I would like to have a modifier button set to the rotary where it selects the effect and EXCLUDES moving param 3.

Is that possible? Basically when I hit the modifier I want it to perform the function and disable the rotary from performing its unmodified function.

    Clear?

  • @nljdj Yes. Thats exactly what modifiers allow you to do.

Personly i would reverse that, so that you have FX select by default and then press and hold modifier to change parameter 3.

Only because selection of an FX will come before chaging its parameters.

Thats only a personal preferance though.

  • @mrcuss Thanks for the tip. I did about 3 hours of MIDI revamping on my Xone:4D. It is much more efficient, smooth and makes a lot more sense.

I keep coming back to your videos of midi mapping, but like someone else said, I understand a lot more about midi modifiers now than I really ever did so cheers! Thanks for the reply.

  • i've assigned my jogwheel to control the fx 1 amount, when hitting a button, but it also moves the track back and forth. How can I do this to control only the fx amount when I hit the button?

  • @Akis643 You need to create a Modifier for the button so that when it is pressed the jog wheel only controlls the FX Wet / Dry.

    This video covers modifier creation.

  • thx dude, you made me understand modifiers!!!!!!

  • quick question... how do you map a SHIFT button to generate a whole new mapping template when pressed...

  • @djtavi77 modifiers....

  • Is there a way to have a modifier button that you don't have to hold down to change the button/fader over to it's alternative function?

  • @maverickem09 Yes, but you can only choose from a couple of other choices.

Modifiers buttons have to be either 'Toggle', 'Hold' or 'Direct'.

You can assign these to suit you.

  • @mrcuss Cheers! One clarification; 'toggle' would be like an on/off button, what would the 'direct' function do?

  • @maverickem09 Sorry, Last reply wasn't very clear.

'Direct' will set the software feature to either 0 or 1, meaning off or on. You can also set the value 0 or 1 in the box in the 'Button Options' section.

  • i have a question as well mrcuss! im almost done programing my controller, but somehow the only function on the add tab that i think is to move the loops back and forward, doesnt work and i cant find any other that does...cant u explain this to me plz ?

  • @MrRidisc The function is called 'Cue/Loop Move'. Map this to a control of your choice.

To get it to work in Traktor. Loop / Move needs to be selected in the application.

Just under the pitch control there is a button called 'Active' and under that there is a small arrow. Press this arrow to reveal the 'Loop' section.

On the left there are 3 buttons. Select 'Move'.

Now when you move your mapped control the loop will move backwards and forwards.

  • @mrcuss thanks a lot! i got it now... it was the loop move function on the drop down under the pitch that i had no ideia about.. thanks again!

  • I was hoping this would help me out because I'm short off buttons. Lets say the number 7 on your keyboard is mapped to Filter. But you want it to change something else like Key when the mod button is depressed. Mod button depressed, it still changes what 7 was originally is mapped. It changes both filter and key instead of just the key settings. So I'm guessing its only good for one function, or am I doing this wrong?

  • @DeviantDigi Are you setting both modifier and value?

  • @mrcuss I believe so but I'm not really be certain, because obviously i'm doing it wrong XD.

  • Thanks alot for the tut bro.

  • I'm trying to set the 3 effect increase as a second modifier on my rmx but the original high mid and lows still move instead on just the effets?

  • @jamofeeman Make sure you give each modifier a value.

  • wondering... so all the mappin i see u put on deck A>.. would i have to obviousley do the same for deck b c d and so on ... or is automatically go to all decks ?

  • @TheKon1 For each im afraid.

  • Hi man. Im been using two midi controlers and I map almost everything Besides the wet and Dry and the rest of the FX knobs you explain in this tutorial. I did Step by Step with all The Other buttons, K nobs and sliders but seems to be this fucker just dont want to MAP in!!! I Have a Hercules MP3 e2 midi controller an a Korg NanoKontroller just for Virtual. CAn I get help here please???

  • hi. i want to set the fist row of the xone 2d for the length of the loops. will traktor recognize when i'm moving the button clockwise or anti clockwise?

    thanks

  • @SebassTheDJ Yes but be aware when setting them up in Traktor that the top row on a 2D has endless encoders. These have no minimum or maximum value.

  • Thanks for the vids man . Very Good!

  • that was a great help, but what to do if i want the button as next, so if i move the volume fader for dec a , press this button, and move the same volume fader but it controlls deck c ?

  • It works exactly the same way. Just set you button up as a Modifier so that your fader controls both A and C volume control depending on weather your modifier button is pressed.

  • Can u change the preset mapping

So can u change the eq knobs to control a filter or do u have to hav an effects bit on ur mixer

  • In Traktor there is no pre set mapping. you have to map it all yourself. you can download maps that other people have made if you have the same mixer as those but personally i think it is easier to map it yourself.

  • Hello There I want to buy the sinn7 12usx mixer, will he support the mapping at traktor?

  • If it uses MIDI messages then yes.

Tracktor receives MIDI so any MIDI device can control it.

Each device will have specific MIDI values for each control. Channel / Value...

Unless the device comes with generic MIDI maps you will have to map it yourself.

  • Thanks for answer ;) Cheers

  • very helpful, cheers!

  • extremly useful, thanks! =)

  • hi everyone, im using traktor pro with bcd3000 and korg nanokontrol, im trying to map but when i map for example fader knob in bcd3000 automatically it maps a fader in nano kontrol, as i can understand traktor recognize some bcd3000 and nano kontrol knobs and faders as one (same channel maybe). please someone can help me

  • they may could have the same midi command and thats why they work always at same time....

  • just got my xone and traktor this weekend and your video is more helpfull then anything written in either of the instruction manuals I will be trying this out tommorow got to say the instruction booklet that comes with the xone is as much use as a photo of a dead dog would be in trying to figure out how to get it to work.

  • MIDI controllers can be mapped to more than one parameter of the software.

The 4D had a shift function allowing you to shift between layers of control.

Example: Layer 1, rotary encoder controls FX select and scrolls through your FXs. Layer 2 (after pressing shift) the same encoder can control the Wet / Dry of selected FX.

  • how do u set up the jog wheels

  • The jog wheels are no different than any other control on the unit. Just map them as you would a rotary control.

  • Best tutorail about double macro... you rock... !!

  • when you use modifiers (I haven't tried it yet, but I will soon!) what's the deal with the 'value' section? (ie, why is it Mod.1, Val.1; Mod.3 Val.3; and not Mod.1 Val.3 - if that makes any sense atall!) Great vid though! :)

  • In preferences, you define the focus of each deck for each control.

When you map a HotKey, just be sure to set the deck focus.

  • does any 1 no how to change the ( deck focus ) using ur keyboard instead of the mouse ??

  • fantastic. this is a big help. thank you!

  • Thanks, I never would have known that if I hadn't found this. That's great :D 5 star!

  • In Preferences, bottom left you have Import and Export.

Once you have changed settings such as Audio Setup, Output Routing and MIDI Mapping you will need to press Export. This will save your settings to a .tsi file.

Alternatively if you already have a .tsi file that you have created or downloaded then press Import and select your file.

  • your midi mapping videos have been very helpful, would be nice to know how to correctly load midi presets because I've tried in the past unsuccessfully.

  • Very helpful, thanx!!!
