  • oh boy Mr Deity turned into Paul Simon with a goaty. I hope you are taller than him though.

Also, you gotta love the advert just right of the screen: "BECOME AN ORDAINED PASTOR. Answer god's call to service. Start preparing online for ministry today!"

I'd love to apply but I'm not sure Mr Deity and god are one and the same... please confirm that you are.

  • just stop watching are 4:40 and you can avoid the begging

  • Oh my self?

  • You know, every clip I watched tonight has had an ad next to it saying "Christian Prayer Center - Post a Prayer Request - Thousands will pray for you" Mr Deity is this one of your scams again!! How much will this prayer cost me? Would it be easier to just donate?

  • NATURAL LIMITS TO EVOLUTION: Only evolution within "kinds" is genetically possible (i.e. varieties of dogs, cats, etc.), but not evolution across "kinds" (i.e. from worm to human). How were species living and reproducing if their reproductive system and other vital organs hadn't evolved yet? Read my Pravda Internet article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS! I discuss: Punctuated Equilibrium, "Junk DNA," genetics, mutations, natural selection, fossils, genetic/biological similarities between species.

  • @Mogley52 I think you should stop watching old Kent Hovind videos and start reading some basic school boooks about evolution and maybe start talking to some scientists :)

They can explain those things to you much better (and more honest) than your bible-buddies ;)

  • @Mogley52 Pravda? Seriously? BWA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!

    Learn some science, son.

  • @Mogley52 The vast majority of "kinds" came from eukaryotes, and as such, they are all the same "kind".

    Anything else?

  • O-M-S! Awesome.

  • @audiesmomma is oms...oh my son?

  • @amberview30 Oh my science!

  • Comment removed

  • @amberview30 Oh My Self

  • Oh My Lack of... ANY KINDA GOD's. This is soooooo funny and so wonderful.

As a born (not again bi the way) ATHEIST.... I and my very smart mind, just LOVED THIS! PS: Mr Deity, don't stop creating. PPS: I already am aware that U simply can not stop yourself! giggles

  • Strauss-con.... you just can't plan for bad publicity.

  • @tazgrento I've watched this near a dozen times and I only just now get the joke!

  • If anyone can create a metafighuv, it's the crew at Mr. D!

  • Smooooooosh!

  • 301st comment :-)

  • "With Me all things are plausible". LOL!!!!

  • More P.Z. Myer. The surprise guest?

  • @granddad2002 Close. But we pushed the episode with the surprise guest back one in order to deal with something a bit more timely. But look for the return of Lucy on Sunday night/Monday morning.

  • CHANGE THE VIDEO PICTURE AND YOU'LL GET A LOT MORE VIEWS. EVERYONE THINKS IT IS A BEGGING SEGMENT.

  • east to east and west to west and never the twain shall meet :)

  • Hilarious! well done thanks

  • "More apologists..."

    Damn you deity!

  • i love this...

  • If I ever get married, I want Mr. D to perform the ceremony. Is that probable?

  • @nvalentino75 Absolutely! I'm doing my first this year.

  • And another classic from Mr D and the team.

  • Fucking brilliant Great Job Man

  • The creation episodes are great - they really highlight the fact that God would have to be a bungling idiot. I'd love to see more about the problems around human conditions. Specifically marriage - an institution almost as crazy as religion. And how about a priest trying to enter heaven? Or a WestBoro Baptist?

  • @phonyme400 WBC are lawyers first, "christians" second. They just act like jackwagons until someone flips out and assaults them allowing them to sue for $

  • @triftenC That wouldn't surprise me. It is clearly their goal to antagonize.

  • John needs a better connection.

  • he sounds like sunny moore

  • "OMS" - brilliant.

  • Christianity -- Being fixed in post since ~30 C.E.

  • OMY, this is one of my favorite Mr Deitys of all time. Bravo sirs, bravo.

  • @kaywest207 Thanks!

  • I am watching this show very unregularly. Some episodes I love, others not so much. This is the first one I feel compelled to comment on. :)

For any hobby filmmaker like myself, this was just BRILLIANT! Not only the countless references to "fixing it in post", but the apple in front of the apple of the computer, the slow-motion movements (keyframing) of the chatters not speaking etc. That is awesome self-aware comedy!

Oh yeah, and the content of course... funny as usual.

  • @FlohHeidelberg Thanks so much! It's always nice when someone appreciates all the hard work -- especially the little things like the apples, and the bandwidth choking.

  • Hey everyone. I'm suddenly poor(er), so I had to unsubscribe. Will someone pick up the slack in my name? I'll love you, love you, love you, love you, love you! (To be sung to the tune of "Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!")

  • Don't you get it, God is punishing you for your disobedience!!! ................Nah on second though I think you just have crappy luck. Keep plugging away, the more basic stuff the better, prefer substance over production values. Even after complaining about you asking for cash, (earlier sketch) I'll be donating to your rightous cause. Preach on brother.

  • I dig the hair.

...aaand there's a banner ad for Liberty University.

I wonder if it might be worth your while to bring in a few BS sponsors. Like, for example, Prairie Home Companion has the likes of Powdered Milk Bisquits, and the Professional Organization of English Majors. I'm picturing something along the lines of "Today's episode has been brought to you by Firmaments R Us."

  • Delightful episode!

"With me, all things are plausible!" Too funny.

And, gosh, some people have really got their knickers in a twist about the begging session. Maybe the full moon made them grumpy or something...

  • @Ellie49 OMS! That's it!

  • The placement and meaning of the apples makes me laugh my ass off. Brilliant.

  • Impressive begging section.

Had i had any money, i'd give it to you.

  • "HolyBookPro" teehee...the devil is in the details, eh?

  • anyone catch "OMS"? I'm guessing this means "Oh My Self"?

  • "I can probably get some apologists to work on it later." Ell, oh, ell.

  • Don't scrimp on the firmament, you'll regret it.

  • @FluffyFeralMarmot Are you kidding? A nice firmament is one of the major selling points of any Heaven and Earth creating. I wouldn't think of scrimping. I'm always thinking about resale value.

  • Fantastic -- tweeted immediately to all clergy in my Twitter stream who were selected because they were born w/funny bones. Like the previous hairstyle. Much more like The Business look.

  • wtf you were not REALLY in Vienna, were you? That was a joke, right??!

  • @tigsdk Right.

  • @misterdeity Well, if you ever consider coming to Vienna, let us know and we'll buy you a beverage of your choice. I guess wine goes best with Strauss. Maybe.

  • Soooooooooooop funny! Please keep Tom forever! He fits right in to your show.

  • @FreidasGarden Tom is great!!! And a pure delight to work with.

  • 'OMS' - classic Deity.

  • I love the hair style very unique...

  • The begging section was particularly tasteless this time. This used to be clever and classy enough for kids to watch too. Now, I'm having second thoughts. Who the heck is your audience?

  • @gr33nman Well, it's clearly not you. This show has always been aimed at the 18+ crowd. And while we generally keep the shows PG, I certainly never want to be limited in that way, and I absolutely loathe all prudishness. By the way, some of us find George Carlin one of the most "clever/classy" cats to ever walk the face of the Earth. I guess we all have our definitions. Sorry to see you go.

  • @misterdeity - Thanks for your reply. I won't unsub yet, but I ask: Would George Carlin ever post photoshopped 'calendar' shots of himself off-stage? To me, the begging shots are you off-stage - not your character. It comes across like Wiener on facebook - sadly telling and desperate. Many of us who grew up Catholic (or otherwise) love this channel for the way it makes us laugh at our preconceptions of religion. There's just got to be a better way to lighten up the begging section.

  • @gr33nman First, the begging segment in now way represents me "off-stage." That is still very much a character I'm playing. Second, your big problem with the begging segment is my head photoshopped onto a couple of congressmen's twitter pic bodies? Really? That's what you're upset about? I thought it was the C&% and balls thing. Oh, wait! Grammy S, is this you punking me again? You blew it. I know it's you. No one's that much of a prude, G. You overplayed this. Love you! See you at Dad's b-day.

  • @misterdeity Wow, thanks again for the reply. Didn't understand half of what you said, but that's okay. 'Dogma' was funny. Burgess Meredith in 'Grumpy Old Men' was funny. Mr. Deity is also funny. The begging section - this time - was not. Upset? Nah. Disappointed? Yup. Should I leave the money on the edge of the bed as I tiptoe out in the morning? That's how you're asking for money. Hey, I guess that _is_ funny... Hmm...no... maybe if 'Lucy' said it that way... Let's see how the next one goes.

  • @gr33nman You are aware that the two photos are actually photos of different congressmen (with my head photoshopped on) who have had to resign because they were sending these photos out looking for sex? And the last one (Cat and balls) is a riff on the fact that Congressman Weiner actually sent a photo of his C@&K and balls? Maybe you just don't keep up with the news?

  • Comment removed

  • @misterdeity While Carlin is timeless, you very obliquely set up the jab at Weiner, leaving viewers five years from now to say, 'Huh?' They'll have to research the context to understand it, and by then, the timing and moment are gone. If you're in character while begging, this is out of character with previous bits. Ironically, it comes across as something added in post needing an apologist. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I think you're very clever. I look forward to the next one.

  • @gr33nman Wow! I'm just touched that you think people will be watching this five years from now. Sweet! And Carlin did a ton of stuff that was time-dependent. All comics do. You can't possibly do only "timeless" material. As for "out of character"... I don't think so at all. In a previous begging segment, I wore nothing on the bottom half of my body and a suit jacket, shirt, and tie on the upper half.

P.S.: What awful thing could possibly be out of character for Mr. Beggar?

  • @gr33nman One more thing. Here are the ratios for you: 243 bazillion emails loving the begging segment vs. you. There's no "agree to disagree". You're just wrong. Sorry. ;-)

  • @misterdeity Because popularity equals truth, right? I do think people will be watching these in the future if you leave it published. How do you want to be remembered?

Luke 6:26 - Woe to you, when all people speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets.

Luke 9:25 - For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?

  • @gr33nman Well, yeah, in this venue, popularity is what I'm going for. And when it's you vs. the bazillions, guess what? You lose. Sorry. BTW, not a big fan of scripture -- don't know if you can tell that from the show. But nice try.

  • @misterdeity 3 sorries... No need to apologize if you're not sincere about it. Like 'Mr. Deity', I don't have to 'believe' in scripture to use it either. And 'popularity' in this case translates into views, which translates into more money from youtube partner advertisements. That's practical. Base humor is a camel whose nose is in your tent, so to speak. But camels have minds of their own. Will you be able to keep it from taking over your tent? It's worth watching just to find out.

  • @gr33nman I still don't understand what's so "base" or awful for "the children" in that begging segment. Again, I don't do this show for the children anyway. But if you want to see "base" here on YouTube, look up a video called, "First Snow in Athens, GA, 2010." It's completely racist! Nothing but "white" snow. Think about the poor black children watching that. Plus, the lack of camera movement is infuriating -- as is that song. Now, just admit you're a very silly person and be done with it!

  • @misterdeity First of all, it's my opinion on this one begging section. I cannot be wrong about my opinion. Second, I admire any comedian that can go so many seasons without resorting to lowest common denominators. It shows cleverness and character. Sooner or later the dollar sign drags them all down. Yes Lady Gaga is clever, but she's popular only because she's a soft porn star. Compelling? Yes. You will never be a porn star. Why even go there? Third - do you know if I'm African American?

  • @gr33nman Hey, I'm already a porn star in my own mind. Second, I've never been impressed with people intentionally avoiding the lowest common denominator. I often do things based on what's going on in the media. That was in the media, and it was damned funny -- at least everyone but you thinks so. So, in this case, your opinion is wrong (and of course you can have wrong opinions). Finally, I don't care about your heritage. I make jokes and poke fun. Deal with it.

  • @misterdeity I just had a revelation! This is very much like the Smurfs. We have Papa Smurf, a generic combination of other Smurfs (almost always male) and Smurfette. It's the same mix of characters found in Big Bang Theory, Hawaii Five-O, NCIS, The Closer, Castle and many other popular shows. The keystone asset almost always seems to be the 'Smurfette' character. I'd like to hear Amy Rohren's take on this begging section. If she hates it, hey controversy means more views, right? Win win...

  • @gr33nman Amy thinks the begging segment is funny. If she didn't, it wouldn't have gone up. That's the kind of power women have on this show. I bow down and worship the ground she walks on.

  • @misterdeity Consider me the 243 bazillion-and-first one :-)

  • You sir, just picked up another subscriber. Awesome vid.

  • love the apple concealing the apple logo

  • @underweightHater I thought that was a good one too. Thanks.

  • So the "Anyone" bit was a shot at Ben "no intelligence" Stein, right? Nice touch.

  • @kaywest207 Yea!!!! You're the first one to get it (or at least comment about it here). Good job! I've been waiting for someone to point that out. I almost had Mr. Deity say, "Bueller?"

  • We can fix it in post.

  • "OMS" - hahahaha, I take it this stands for "Oh MySelf"

  • 2 people don't want to be unemployed apologists.

  • @logsdonj

    Ha. Love it!

  • you are so going to hell :-) Look at all the warnings: earthquake, vulcanic eruption, tornado's... lol

  • What's with the hair?

  • Nice touch with the lag and buffer in GoToDeity!

  • The best written episode everly that was to be of the writing. Well done.

  • I've been watching for awhile now and I have yet to see you smite anyone.

  • @TheIAMINU Be careful what you wish for.

  • @misterdeity You Know how he is when he's off his "medication".

  • I love the apples. I really want one. So tempting.

  • Is that a placebo band?

  • Earthquake and ash cloud, huh? God must really hate you.... ;)

  • I like how at the end he begs for money just like a christian god does. Never breaks character. Nice.

  • Metaphive...I love it. =)

  • HolyBookPro :)

  • If you have an job opening for an apologist....I'd like to audition.

  • you took the Janitor's Brain Trust, he doesn't like it when people take his Brain Trust...

  • I was watching this vid and it dawned on me..that the Bible does NOT say the Earth was created in seven days, it says it was created in the BEGINNING. Then the first day did not end until later when god made light and dark and the sun set on the 1st day. But when was 'the beginning'? Apparently the Earth was just sitting around formless for a while. That pesky Bible.

  • The hair on your head looks like the tread on my new all-terrain truck tires!

  • OK what the hell happened to your hair? O_O

  • Mr. Deity in my home country while I am in the States. Looks like god doesn't want us to meet - and since Mr. Deity is the one and only himself, it sadly looks like Mr. Deity avoids meeting me.

  • Brilliant, Brian....although I have expected a 'WE'LL DO IT LIVE...F*** IT, WE'LL DO IT LIVE!" ;-)

  • I hope a Mitt Romney episode is in the works.

  • That must be it everything is messed up because God is going to fix it in post........

  • Cosco.......LOL

  • The buffering and choppiness on everyone's webcams was a nice touch.

  • You're metaphiving my metaphors when I phough you was on phree.

  • The problem with believers isn't that they're stupid. Many of them are brilliant. The real problem is that they have not critically analyzed their beliefs. They are credulous. They are incurious. They are, in other words, not skeptical. I think we non-believers need to teach the controversy.

  • What does OMS stand for?

  • Comment removed

  • So funny that you and ZOMGitsCriss made vids at almost exactly the same time with almost exactly the same theme, but still quite different and both really funny. Clearly a sign from heaven that it's time for my joint.

  • @Snagabott Talk about even more Devine intervention. You and I made almost the exact same post at the exact same time. I wonder if you're typing in a reply about my post right now. Does God even have YouTube access to be messing with us like this? Heh...

I'm also hoping Edward Current is going to upload a video on this subject too.

  • It's funny how you and ZOMGitsCriss uploaded videos within two days of each other about the same subject. Must be Devine intervention, eh?

  • I like the apple in front of the Apple logo.

  • It took me a moment to get the weiner reference, but that was hilarious as hell! xD

  • For the first time in a long time, I can actually guess what the "Brian 'whatever' Dalton" refers to...

  • holybook pro LoL

  • Loved the begging segment!

  • Lmao "silent letters are tug" oh that one hit me hard. oh that was good.

    Loved it.

  • OMS...? does that translate to "Oh My Self"...?

  • What's with Mr. Deity's hair? Did I miss something?

  • OK, Senor Dios, how many years have you been holding on to that metaphor, metafive joke?

  • Where are the bananas???

  • "With Me, all things are plausible." Great. Really good writing on this episode.

  • I want to apply for apologist/zer, I heard you have a need and a budget for that good job.

Btw, you created nig before lig or the other way around?

  • “We can fix it in post”, “Call the apologist” You are going to need a lot/all of them! ;O) Hahahahaha!!! ★★★★★

    Katalyzt

  • You certainly do have a few 'this has been flagged as spam' messages. Does that mean someone subscribed, discovered that you speak the plausible truth, and quickly flagged you so lightening wouldn't strike them? Interesting...

  • LOL

"With me all things are plausible..."

  • Oh and best Mr. Deity in ages.

  • @etnlIcarus Yes!! The best in a long time. I was kind of disapointed with the direction Mr deity was taking, but I'm glad they're back on track....

  • Hahahaha...fucking awesome.."metaphor......next level....metafive".

  • Can anyone tell me where I can watch Mr. Deity season 2?

  • @BigIdeaSeeker Season 2 was sponsored by a third-party, non-YouTube site, which is why I believe it never made it to YouTube. Subscribing to the Mr. Deity podcast via iTunes gave me access to Season 2 ... but I don't know if that approach still works. Good luck.

  • yeah...the bible is stupid. So sad that this is still believed by morons.

  • @mrrealtime Well, to me, the problem is that these Holy Books are believed by a lot of intelligent people who should know otherwise. Most of the believers I meet (aside from the crazy religious/right variety) are not stupid in any way.

  • @misterdeity it was a typo, I spelled "Mormon" wrong. Sorry!

  • @misterdeity Except that way ;-) But yes, I know what you mean...as if their minds have watertight compartments which seal off the rational side from the religious side....

  • @misterdeity You nailed it.

    Intelligence =/= critical thinking.

  • @misterdeity I feel like I only deserved 3 of those thankyous so thank you!

  • @misterdeity

I would contest that stance, as it seems an act of stupidity to engage in willful ignorance. That's basically what faith boils down to: "I don't know so I will accept this explanation without proof or critical thought." One really must question how close we shall split the hair between stupid people and people who wantonly engage in stupid behavior.

  • @Santo3x7 But religious people don't see it that way. When I was religious, I thought atheists were the ignorant, stupid ones. We live in a country where the vast majority simply assumes the existence of God and the veracity of the Bible. They have apologists who can make great sounding arguments, and very few people have the desire, need (and sometimes, ability) to unravel those arguments. Trust me, there are many factors involved, the least of which is intelligence.

  • @misterdeity

The most compelling argument will not make a faulty assumption any less faulty. Faith operates on the justification of that assumption regardless of how faulty it is. The lack of either the wisdom (will) or intelligence (ability) to reject that assumption in light of fact is, by it's definition, stupidity.

Faith is belief without proof, with no proof you cannot establish fact, and without facts you cannot be said to know anything. Faith is simply belief in ignorance.

  • @misterdeity What's missing hear is that knowledge can only cure ignorance; One requires wisdom to cure stupidity.

  • @misterdeity @TheIAMINU - I think most cases can be explained by indoctrination from birth.

  • @misterdeity Almost as scary as the number of intelligent people who respond to religious conflicts/violence with the words, "we should respect all religions". That really burns me

  • @misterdeity "...in any way."

Well, in any *other* way. I mean no offense... Okay, well maybe a little.

  • @mrrealtime well ain't that kinda the point? Thinking people can't really fall of it.

  • this should start EVERY Sunday School lesson....

  • The Religion or Peace T-Shirt looks cool. But where was Lucy? Upset you've posted pics on-line, maybe? Love you folks! Keep it up, and I hope B.C. treated you well! Glad you came to Canada, Mr. Deity!

  • lol @ 0:09 I thought Adblock was turned off.

  • C... and balls! :D

  • I run an anime convention in Alabama, and we have banned both Iceland and Tornados from our convention Kami-Con (Icelanders are welcome, but the country has to stay where it is). The story is Iceland Volcanic ash almost made it so one of our major guest from the UK couldn't make it, and Tornados recently attacked out town in Tuscaloosa.

  • @Daoutsida05 "I run an anime convention in Alabama"

For some reason, I find this statement hilarious.

  • bite that apple!

  • metafive :)

  • The christian mingle add in the corner I think is falling on deaf ears

  • I'm planning to fix my life in post.
