I've lived in a tent, so I do know what I'm talking about. And I do care, very much. Yes, there is a percentage of the population that is homeless or living in abject poverty, and that needs to change, but if you have clean water, electricity, a toilet, and can buy a sufficient amount of food, you're already a hundred times better off than many people in 3rd world countries. The majority of this country at least has that. Most have far more. Our idea of poor is skewed.

It's rising for a small percentage of China's population, the middle and upper classes, people with connections to or relationships with those corporations. But for the rural farmers and peasants it's getting worse as their land is stolen, reduced, polluted, rezoned, etc...
