  • Some parts sound like 2 girls 1 cup. Can't unhear it. :(

  • At 1:09 when she smiles in the show, I just melt.

  • I'm not ashamed to plug this: Any and all tabletop game fans out there, check out Adeptus Evangelion, basically the official house rules for Evas, angel, AT field, the whole shebang. Check it out, and you will not regret it.

  • @Columbianbacon Well yeah it was depressing, gory and had futile glory. But man watched this at the age of 9.........wow unbelievable xDDDD

  • Beautiful.

  • I mean see the stars (curse my spelling -_-)

  • I bet the 1990's were the good times, huh guys even though I was born in 1997 XDDD. Man the music is soothingly calm...just makes ya want to sea the stars and cars go by

  • @xXTheHeroicGamerXx Before I was ten I was watching Evangelion, in all it's depressing, gory and futile glory. I regret nothing.

  • @CharropandaKun *sniff* ok now that just touched my heart right there even though I hadn't seen all of the Neon Genesis Evangelion episodes yet (Well i've seen just Ep. 1 then the beginning of Ep. 2.....the reason is bc theres rarely no episodes on Youtube which just makes me sad bc I RLY WANT TO SEE THIS DDDDD*:)

  • Awesome track...!

I wish it was on a new Rebuild of Evangelion movie soundtrack... Shiro Sagisu-kun is a genius.

  • Is this referring to Rei II as the person, or is the piece just called Rei II?

    GOD I'M CONFUSED

  • why are we calling her rei when her real name is lilth

  • Comment removed

  • @ultimatehedgehog50 Why do we call her "Lilith" when her real name is Rei? Lilith spent so long on Earth in the perverted image of Yui Ikari, she stopped resembling an Eva (bald, featureless, sexless) or Adam, and her soul actually took on Rei Ayanami (and technically Yui Ikari)'s shape. Hence why she becomes Rei in the End of Evangelion. Her soul has forever become Rei...until she dies at the end, anyway.

  • @hotelmario510 what the fuck are you talking about rei aka lilith is not yui ikari

  • @ultimatehedgehog50 In part, she is. She was created from Yui Ikari's cells and Lilith's DNA. She's shaped like Yui, but the mutations from Lilith's DNA are supposedly what gives her the characteristic blue hair and red eyes.

  • @hotelmario510 you don't evan know about it because lilith does not have dna because it is rei and adam

  • @ultimatehedgehog50 Goodbye, troll.

  • @hotelmario510 yeah because you lost dumb ass

  • it sounds like that scene of end of evangelion were rei goes into adam and becomes lilth

  • This piece is just amazing. The first Rei song is an example of a static lifestyle, where each time a new instrament is added, the song becomes sadder because the tune is the same. However, this shows a dynamic life where there is a change that breaks the sadness. Until the end, when it becomes static and ultimately ends in sadness.

  • @owenmcgarel Kinda fits Rei II, doesn't it?

  • This is an amazing piece of music. I like this in the scene where Rei finally smiles... It swells at just the right moment in the piece, and it syncs with her smile perfectly. Bravo, Gainax.

On a different note, KHinsider has this free to download.

  • Shinji:Please don't say that... don't say good bye when you leave on a mission.. it's too sad

Rei: Why are you crying.. I'm sorry... I don't know what to say in a time like this...

    Shinji: Could you just Smile?...

    Rei: :')

  • @CharropandaKun rei does not smile after shinji says could you just smile she thinks of comander ikari then smiles

  • @ultimatehedgehog50 Ok.. but she smiled... Right?

anyway I understand your point XD

paying attention to those details, are the proof that you're a truly fan of NGE

    XD

  • @CharropandaKun thanks that means alot to me

  • Comment removed

  • @CharropandaKun That scene almost made me cry.

It also made me a huge fan of Rei.

  • second times the charm with rei. Third screwed over all humanity

  • @TealDaubs She herself didn't, she was just stupid enough to ask Shinji what he wanted to do with the world when he felt like committing suicide.

  • Was anyone else taken completely by surprise at how easily Rei died? I was so shocked I could hardly bear to watch the next episode. Then when Rei was confirmed to be alive, I thought "Well, it may be a cop out, but at least she's alive."

And then the truth was revealed...

  • The Rei I grew to love and the smile that warmed my heart @ 1:21

  • @kantoriX1 no she was choked to death while still a child

  • @Zadeass

    what are you talking about?

  • @kantoriX1 He's confused the word "I" as in "me" with "I" as in the roman numeral. He thinks you're talking about Rei I.

  • @hotelmario510 lol I got it when I re-read his answer.

I did mean Rei the 2nd, or Rei Ⅱ thus the name of this track and my favorite Rei.

  • @kantoriX1 Yes, we all love Rei II. I like "RIAO" as well, from Episode 26, because she's just so unexpected...and disturbingly genki.

  • In the end the final decision we all must take, make or break, decides our fate...

  • This piece just SCREAMS nostalgia. Mostly regretful ones, I assume...

  • Shinji - Pussy

    Asuka - Bitch

    Rei - Mute

  • @tonmandude

Shinji - More of a man than you'll ever be. His dad fucking abandoned him when he was little, yet he still was able to hold him self together enough to defeat all the angels. Hell, he became God on EoE. You're being a bit too one-dimensional when it comes to this.

  • @ApesOfBass Yea, that doesn't mean he's not a pussy.

  • @tonmandude

Pfff, yeah, because a "pussy" would do all the shit I just listed, huh? GTFO

  • @ApesOfBass *high fives*

  • @ApesOfBass (Oh spoiler there) but didn't he run away by himself?

  • @tonmandude >implying you would deal any better with something like what shinji fictionally went through

  • At the beginning of November 1914, the Ottoman Empire ...abandoned its ambivalent neutrality

  • @infinityblablabla Um, did you comment on the wrong video or something?

  • is rei a clon of yui ikari (shinyi´s mom)???

  • In a way, Rei was the most fucked up out of all the characters - she's a replaceable clone with no soul.

Hard to get worse than that.

  • Shinji has daddy issues

    Asuka has mommy issues

Rei has noboby issues (as in she has no parents)

  • Rei has "raised by wolves" issues cause she was raised by Gendo. Wolves would have been better, in all probability.

  • @SoManySkinks she was happy to a degree, maybe content if not hapiness, thats all that she wanted :D

  • Wow, what series where you watching? Rei II was -not- happy or content until near the end of her life, due to Shinji, and even then mostly in the manga. She is apathetic about being alive, she was lost and without purpose. She was one step from suicide, supported by her statements in the last episodes.

  • @SoManySkinks im talking about the anime, she was reluctant of the event's yes. but she was content.

  • I am without words for the absurdity of everything you have said. Just go... go read the Wikipedia article or something. I'm through with this conversation.

  • @SoManySkinks i have, she was content, where was it implyed she was unhappy?

  • It never once implies she is anything but. We see her smile, what, twice in the entire series? A content individual doesn't wipe out the entire human race. She is withdrawn and introverted, and totally detached from reality. In the last episode she literally -wishes- for death! Content people don't say "I want to die." She has zero sense of self-worth, and thinks of herself as totally expendable. As a person she is nearly catatonic, if not downright miserable.

  • @SoManySkinks i never seem the end of evangelion so perhaps i spoke to soon, but im basing what i said off the primary serier'es

  • ...Well, sorry for the spoiler, then. And even in the series, everything I said is still true. Just go read the wikipedia article, that alone should be enough to prove I'm right. If you want to actually research the topic, you'll realize:

    A) Content doesn't mean what you think it does.

    B) If you know someone like this who calls themselves content, they need help.

    C) Rei is one of the most unhappy anime characters of all time. Period. Ask the director, he agrees with me.

  • @SoManySkinks she has borderline disorder, plus she depicts the angel of death taking shinji from reality into a dream, then she is just a replicate of a soul and she knows it, of course she'd want to return to nothing in her last form, the rei2 however wanted to fuse with shinji.

  • @nyxmaroercheostrea ... psychology is but a assumption of ascertained thoughts, riddled with social stigma and pathos. all theory, epitomized and characteristically harmonized with scientific jargon. i studied it for 3 years.. at the end of it, everything i saw in the world was so depressing.. so shamelessly.. ambient of the catharsis of man. then i realized, compared to the world and this anime, atleast in this anime there was a happy ending.. in the epilogue of EVA

  • @teddythebenny yes the world is a good medium to the confrotation of egos and its a miracle that people survive it so well, a friend of mine who studied psychology said the same thing as you.

  • @nyxmaroercheostrea ... ahh .. well heres a question we must all face.. what comes first, the fire or the phoenix ? XD thats what psychology is..

  • @teddythebenny

Sad you ended in that conclusion, give the human being a second chance, the only thing people want is hapiness, and hapiness comes with goodness, love and "good vibs", not with ego. Just my humble opinion :)

  • @SoManySkinks Well, we have Princess Mononoke for that.

  • I'm not quite certain which part of my rant you're referring to, but I like Princess Mononoke so I'll just smile and nod.

  • @SoManySkinks Well, you said "raised by wolves", did you not?

  • Ooooh-oh-oh-oh. Silly youtube said you were responding to my rant about Rei most certainly not being content. Hence my confusion. Yes, okay, I see now. Never mind me.

  • @SoManySkinks *slow clap turning into roaring applause*

  • @SoManySkinks "I thought it was a boy."

"This is a child with the soul of a giant abomination I MEAN a friend's child I'm looking after. Yes."

  • @SoManySkinks In the end, though, she wasn't really raised by anybody; her memories fade to simple deja vu every time she is reincarnated, and this brings Rei 3 to tears in episode 23 as she half-remembers Gendo's glasses. It's quite sad, really...

  • @SoManySkinks this will always leave me depressed..... seriously....

  • @gungnir2357 Basically, in this anime, the fate of the world rest in the hands of traumatized children!

    -Shinji is a maniaco-depressed boy.

-Asuka has a very serious superiority complex due to her insane mother who wanted her to always be at the top!

-Rei is a soulless puppet who was raised by a bunch of heartless scientists!

  • I would rate this as one of the top 10 sentimental anime bgms.

  • Every time I hear this melody, I feel like cutting my wrist.

  • from what i understand, rei is a partial clone of Yui with the soul of lilith, hence the merging (reuniting) wiht him at the EoE. Additionally she is one of many clones, as seen when a new one is brought about when unit 0 goes boom with the second last angel (before tabris)

  • Rei is easily the most complex character, yet the most awesome evar.

Go Rei! You will always be my fav character, my girl, my dream and my fap material!

  • i think Shinji and Asuka are more complex.....Rei is kinda simple for me./

  • Rei isn't really simple at all... All of them are VERY complex, Rei is just a little less explored.

I can't really understand any except Asuka.

  • i think she is.

Shes basically a clone without emotions or feelings,as the series go she gets her own emotions and feelings.

  • For Rei, I would say she's pretty much explored in EVA, as a number of scenes seems to reflect her emotional and psychological behavior.

Asuka really isn't easy to understand either.

I really can't believe what it would be like to be born as a test tube baby and suffer from childhood trauma when your mother treats a doll as her daughter instead of you, standing right in front of her.

  • Well, that was a little more than I needed to know. O-o

  • you speak my out the soul^^

  • No.

  • Can anyone name a particular scene this was used in?

  • i THINK this was used in the scene where rei was going to kill herself to destroy the ring shaped angel... I THINK.

  • Thanatos was the song played at that scene :P

  • When Shonjo frees Rei from the capsule and tells her to smile.

  • Excusez moi. It's Shinji.

  • @magnusLordN Shonjo? That sounds like a magician who changes the colors of animals.

  • That was a nice scene.

  • rei is the mental the strongest anime/manga person i ever seen

  • Rei was strange, she wasn't enterly human which as it turns out that was true. She never really seemed there... twisted innocence......

  • Uh huh....so you think that I won't understand you? Sabes que....no mames.

  • jódete. le lames los pies a shiro sagisu.

  • deveras wow

    viva mexico

  • Esa esquizofrenia te tiene mal

  • ... No te inventes la vida, chabal.

    Shiro Sagisu compuso esta canción

  • damn thats awesome

  • rei.. gives off the sense of innosence but in a twisted way.. almost like... i cant put my finger on it

  • Rei gave me the creeps!

  • no she's not

she's the best person ever the end

  • I LOVE REI AYANAMI

  • ditto

  • this is favorite over the three songs of rei, i just love it

  • Sounds like a girl from outerspace or moon

  • I cant realy describe it but she always had that kind of presence.

  • GREAT!

    NGE RULEZ

  • perfecto

  • Muy hermosa melodía.

  • awesome
