Can't think of any other instance where as much talent came together to form a band that stuck together for a time period. Between the four of these guys, it's unreal the amount great music they out out as a band and individuals. Sure wish I could have seen them play.
I would never trade any of these guys they together formed this band and any missing part would be irreplaceable I am just glad I can come here and watch such fantastic talent
You know, oldsters still gush about the Rat Pack (Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Dean Martin) but this collaboration eclipses those guys. The Traveling Wilburys are their only equal.
While you-tube surfing today I learned something I can scarcely believe. Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Merle Haggard are NOT members of the Grand Ole Opry. How can five of the GREATEST country artists not be worthy of membership in the Grand Ole Opry? Yet Josh Turner and Carrie Underwood are? I will no longer view the Opry as a measure of success in country music.
Kris Kristofferson said in interviews that in the beginning, he had a hard time believing he deserved to be in the same stage as Cash, Nelson, and Jennings since they were the ones he himself idolized when he started out as a janitor at Columbia (and Cash was the big name on the label) the irony is that today any country artist like Toby Keith and Keith Urban who has the honor to sing alongside Kristofferson would have the same feelings (same with Wilie Nelson.) R.I.P Waylon and Johnny Cash.
Being from Waylon's hometown, I had the joy of seeing him many times, as well as Willie, and Johnny. There will never be others close to these legends. I still see Waylon's family, and the impact he made here. One of my true idols.
when i go to heaven im guessing i will probably see the high waymen all standing singing i am still alive ! and when jesus returns they will be back again with him !
I'm 15 and listen to nothing but Classic Country ,all because of my Grandfather. He raised me with my grandmother. He died on the third of November of 2011. Was one of the nicest gentlemen you would ever meet,he died at the age of 83 i loved him with all my heart and still do.I cry almost every night. He was the best father ever.I ask myself will i ever get tired of crying everynight. He was never ever mean to me.We had the best of times together.Cant listen to Wille Nelson,Ray Price, without crying
Look at it this way, 10 years from now, the Horsemen will still be getting views and Justin Bieber wil be a "who?" to the 15 year olds at that time, and those that "love him today, will grow up and understand what it is to listen to Willie and the boys. This video is so damned good, it can't be described to anyone who doesn't appreciate sincerely great music and what true entertainers are.
That is because all of us that listened and witnessed this are just coming of the youtube age. we are learning and the way 2 listen and enjoy our old favorites. we will become a force for them in the near future. I HOPE!
I love the video. But, I hate MrCrazyb23's jackass comments. My Mother always said., "some people should be pitied not censored". I didn't take her advice . I marked his rants as spam. LOL

@Mindbender05 I've heard of Justin Bieber surely.Have I any interest in his music...No. My brother introduced me to this song and hence my love for the Highwaymen was born.
Happy new year to all. Just back from new years celebrations and what a way to ring in the new year - listening to the Highwaymen!
nah, the people that viewed bieber and his ilk will be on to better things in a short time, while fans of the greats like the highwaymen will still remember how good they were for many years to come.
Beautiful song performed by true masters. google reptiliansinthematrix for a site which explains the theory that many famous people in politics, business and entertainment are reincarnated into a continuation of whatever they were into in a past life. According to the site Willie Nelson was Albert Pike, Kristofferson was Rasputin's mentor. No info on Waylon Jennings or Johnny Cash. If this theory has any validity it would sure put an interesting spin to the lyrics of this song....
I've seen Kris and Willie in concert. The two other Highwaymen left us too soon. This DVD (Highwaymen Live!) is a treat to all country fans! Nice capture of these great musicians before their comebacks in the mid-nineties (as if they ever went away).
hhahhaha.. MOTHER OF GOD !!!!! who the fuck can dislike this plethora of talent all in one place.....???? May a thousand tse tse flys infest your ball hairs !!!! You assholes are morons.....fuck....
If you don't like talent, if you don't like good country music, then just leave the site, no need to press dislike, in my mind there is no dislike to these great musicians
They're all so talented, but I have to say that Willie Nelson is my favourite. There's something very sincere but strong about him that I love. He's like the sweet old grandpa that would defend his family against anyone no matter how old he was.
I'm a person who is glad to be born when they were. I live in the moment and don't take the present for granted. But God I'd give just one day to see Johnny Cash live. I'm too young to have ever had the chance.
@xxJBLADExxXtream same here, Blade, I would so have loved to see him perform live, but thank God, they have left their legacy their fantastic music to us, pass it on to your friends, my sons are only just now apprecating how great they were! Bless you.
@xxJBLADExxXtream full marks for contradicting yourself...it's people like you who shouldn't be granted the present. a long time ago, your mother made a big mistake.
@MrCrazyb23 I love how you try and get all personal with me, talking about my mother when I didn't even insult you. It shows how low you are. lol thanks for the confidence booster though bro. You disgrace all four of these men just by being so ignorant. Please leave and stop defacing these legends. Idiot.
@xxJBLADExxXtream i'm the idiot!? look who's getting personal...mr "i didn't even insult you". you use Gods name in vain, then you hop on about how happy you were born when you were, despite not being able to see the great johnny cash, and then talk about how you would give it all up! so you do resent the fact you were born when you were! i'm not defacing these legends, because i understand and comprehend the english language with all its grammar. ignorant!? man you are funny!!
@xxJBLADExxXtream full marks for contradicting yourself again!! "cool story...?" but "too long i didn't read it...?!" some people...got to love this, has anyone ever said you should be a stand-up? more a slapstick / surreal type...the amount of juxtapositions you can come up with in one sentence would have people off their seats!! dude!! so so funny!
@MrCrazyb23 Has anyone ever told you to shut the fuck up and get a life? Hey dude, even if you 'win' this argument on 'Youtube' you still look like an idiot with a huge stick in your ass. I know you're gonna have some lame no life witty but corny remark to this so just for your sake, I'd like you to know you'll be talking to yourself. Because now I'm gonna stop responding to an idiot, and listen to the music of a genius. Have a nice day in Hell. Full marks for contradicting myself ;P
@xxJBLADExxXtream "stick in my ass...?" what my actually cheeks...which one? or both! is it both!? or did you mean 'up' my ass...? as regards to ME being an idiot, that is very rich...or did you not comprehend my earlier comments of how you struggle to make sense in a sentence? i guess you wouldn't...ah never mind. i know i'll be reading of your death from dysentery in the local paper some day. shame, the comedy value is through the roof right now! wouldn't want it to just go like that.
@MrCrazyb23 Full marks for contradicting yourself. You talk about grammar yet you're quoting someone incorrectly. His sentences didn't have three periods followed by a question mark. Also, you say his comment is rich, but then you say his comment is grammatically incorrect. That makes no sense. Then you answer your own question, making your question invalid. Then, you make an outrageous statement that you'll be reading about his death, even though you don't know who he is. You lack logic.
@ThatDaveDavidson regards to the quote, i know, i just prefer to write it out that way so a moron can see it clearer. secondly, which comment are you talking about...? he called me an idiot...only an idiot contradicts themselves over and over...hence it being rich. i never mentioned this comment as grammatically incorrect. YOU make no sense. thirdly, i answered the question, because he wouldn't and properly couldn't answer. death comes to us all. it's a joke, only stupid people could die of that
@MrCrazyb23 Valiant try but now you're just making excuses. I thought this might be fun but it seems you're just desperate for some sort of attention. Family issues I suppose. Also fairly cute using transition words like secondly and thirdly. You're typing a comment not an essay. Haha its just childish. You must be young, so the silver lining is you still have time to mature son. Good day. Oh by the way, remember to capitalize letters after a period. And 'I' is always capitalized.
@xxJBLADExxXtream I agree on that, I've always saw my father listening to them in his truck or car :) So i kinda grew up with it hehe... but yea would be very cool to see them perform again, specially Johnny Cash :)
I wish I could have seen Johnny before he passed away.

Cash:
I fly a starship across the Universe divide.
And when I reach the other side,
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can.
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again.
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain.
But I will remain.
And I'll be back again, and again, and again, and again, and again

Jennings:
I was a dam builder across the river deep and wide.
Where steel and water did collide.
A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado.
I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below.
They buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound.
But I am still around.
I'll always be around, and around, and around, and around, and around

Kristofferson:
I was a sailor. I was born upon the tide.
And with the sea I did abide.
I sailed a schooner 'round the horn to Mexico.
I went aloft and furled the mainsail in a blow.
And when the yards broke off they said that I got killed.
But I am living still.

Nelson:
I was a highwayman. Along the coach roads I did ride.
With sword and pistol by my side.
Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade.
Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade.
The bastards hung me in the spring of twenty-five.
But I am still alive.

I was a law man, In a squad car I did ride. Badge and pistol by my side.
Many a badguy tried to run and get away, many a criminal lost their freedom by my trade.
gangsters shot me in the back during a raid, but i'll return some day

@MrCrazyb23 Cool story bro. Too long, didn't read. And btw, it looks like you got a bit mad. So cute.
