because if you record multiple guitar/ bass on the same stereos tracks then it greatly decrease what you can do to a single guitar or bass track as far a mastering. but like i said its an idea.
If you want i use a behringer EURORACK UB1222FX-PRO. it has the stereo xlr outputs like most medium grade mixers do. I just run each xlr to both mic inputs on my lexicon and then edit my 2 tracks for left and right pan on my cubase options. not only will this open you up to more tracks you can record thtough but it keeps it simple on you project screen. Now in saying that i really only bust this out on drum tracks.
Lexicon Omega has just two mic inputs, but you can use a two channel pre-amp (micro buddy) and run it into two of the line inputs. That will give you FOUR mic ins. I've done sessions with this setup that were amazing. Two mics for drums, DI for bass (sans amp) and Sans Amp for guitar. no bleed, great tones, "live" performance" (all three players playing at once). Another option is to track vocals, drums and guitar at once and overdub bass later.
With the Lexicon Omega, if you use the USB out, then on Cubase (or any other software) will you be able to manage and edit all 4 (or however many) tracks individually? Thanks
guys and rtl666 i need help with lexicon alpha .. recording alpha in same quality like omega?and is good for my recording lexicon alpha if i need record guitar and keyboard (on keyboard i making drums)?
To get a better sound, go into control panel and find your sound settings. find the advanced setting where you can set the bit rate. ensure that it is 24bit (same as omega) also, only use the usb cable if you have usb2.0 support on your pc if not then forget the usb. just power up the omega with the power supply and take an audio cable out to your sound card (you will need a decent sound card). however if you use usb with usb 2.0 and you still get bad sound, download latest drivers for it. .
can someone help me. i have recorded with cubase le4 an lexicon omega for a year upgraded to win 7 an now have a latency prob called support the said the dont have a driver out for win 7 yet is there any patches out there or anything for the interface it works but not right
i have lexicon omega...can you tell me about my problem? my drum seems to be away....i use a mackie mixer 16 channel...please help me i have an important event
this recording is fine, far too much compression on the top though. far far far too much compression. apart from that there's little i can fault.
and as far as lexicon omegas go, i have one, and used it for ages, and if you get a line splitter, me and my friend made one ourselves, and put around 8 mic inputs split over LR, and set the stereo field on the splitter before sending it to either mic 1 or mic 2 on the box. that worked for us. but we had the magic of engineering at hand.
How many mics did you use to mic your kit? 4? I know that you have a firepod now but can the Lexicon handle drums for recording? Or do you have latency issues? Because in this video it seems to work perfectly!
yea i was looking at the presonus but it was a little to much money for me so thats what brought me to the omega. I read you could only record four separate tracks with it though even though it has six inputs. is that true?
hey the track sounds good man. im thinking of purchasing the lexicon omega but i dont understand why you can only record four tracks at a time when it has 4 inputs and 2 mic inputs. if anyone could get back to me i would really appreciate it. thanks
hey its rtl666, well the lexicon omega only has to mic inputs! which sucks, but it has four line inputs in the back, so really you can do six at a time, all you have to do is go to your local music store and buy AUDIO-TECHNICA'S LINE TRANSFORMORS. they go into the line inputs and then you plug the mics in to the back of the line transfromors. but i recently bought i presonus firpod, it was only $400, and it has 8 working Mic inputs, i would recommend that :)
ha, alot of help huh? i actually have had one for awhile and never used it. I've set today as my day to start learning, so i'll make a video with how to set it up and do some other things with it, i've already learned alot, just message me if you have an questions.
yo.. mowliinthenite did you ever make that video showing your setup? I'm having trouble making my setup sound after drivers and software have been all downloaded and installed. I got my omega 2nd hand with no actual software cd, but was able to download drivers from lexicon website....Please any tips, I need help!
I run one line direct, one mic on the cab, one mic in front of the cone and one in the middle of the room. I run them into my mixer get each level set, then record, then i layer the guitar. Drums are tricky. What type of drum tone are you wanting?
do you use a guitar processor? or are you using vst plug ins? It sounds better than a lot of other peoples, but then again most are just using a cheap camera. you should go and compare with some tascam recording on here. it sounds to me like you need to trim the wave down a little and adjust the mix just a little. I mean just a little. it isn't to damn bad. how did you go about recording this? a real drum set being with a mic, or many mics with a mixer? or was it a drum machine?
try splitting the input jacks left /right wires then you can record 8 inputs in mono!!
just split the stereo tracks in to 2 mono one left one right after recording

It isn't too bad, in the beginning, a noise gate would be good to cut off those drums a bit, it will sound a lot more tight and focussed .
