  • Carl was better in this role than Ben Vereen. Well I shouldn't say "better" but this is no doubt Carl's role

  • this is carl anderson??. excuse me i`m from uruguay near of argentina. carl anderson not live if I thought ? I had shot dead next to the movie of 73. A big hug from Uruguay, kisses Ariadne Arahí.

  • @199027ification he died in in 2004 this is 2003

  • great voice and a very convincing judas... R.I.P. Carl

  • who is playing Jesus?

  • @TheTitanic4 Sebastian Bach. He disgraced the role

  • My God! I just watched the '73 film, and he doesn't seem to have aged a day in 30 years. Still sounds great. RIP.

  • Carl simply was born for this role

  • One person is completely tone deaf and doesn't know it.

  • I don't hear any sharp or flat notes, I only see a great performer doing his best after 30 years from starring in a piece of history. And I'd like to point out to some of you know-all bitches that this is one probably the most difficoult piece of the entire set, and one of the most difficoult for a man to sing in every big musical production.

  • Seeing JCS on stage with Carl as Judas was the most wonderful theatre experience of my life.

  • still got it man :D

  • is thiis for trade

  • Anyone who says he is flat or sharp has no idea what they are talking about.

  • He was a genius :) I can't believe that after 30 years he still sounded amazing :) He had a great gift!

  • Did you record this with a potato?? -_-

  • @iRunWithScissorsFML

You're right, your recording is so much better....

  • I thought his singing was much more impressive than neeley's, although i like both.

  • I saw him in Jesus Christ Superstar....awesome!

  • Even after all this time, his voice is still just as golden and velvety...wow. Just, wow. <3

  • Please tell me I'm not the ONLY one who got shivers down their spine when he sang 4:45 on...

  • @SonicxAmyfan4Life you are definitely not the only one.... it gave me goosebumps!

  • Im gonna make like 600 more youtube accounts just to vote up that top comment!!

  • Amazing! Not just a powerful singer, but a great actor as well. Very expressive face.

  • @kalebrewa no no no! :P He's very whiney in the movie :)

  • @kalebrewa It hurts anyone with taste.

  • @enterthedome not really.

  • @kalebrewa Yeah. Really.

  • @enterthedome It depends on what type of taste you have.

  • @kalebrewa If you like whiny, squeaky voiced fucks, then bad taste.

  • Carl Anderson RIP. - a great performer.

Ted Neeley & himself remained good friends after the film, and Ted sang "Gethsemane" at Carls funeral, - it was Carls favourite...

  • Even at 58, he still has that great voice. I'm glad he didn't do it exactly like the movie version; otherwise, what's the point of watching this version?

  • This is brilliant, R.I.P Carl

  • Great...

  • @thriller94 Let's see what you've done and then we'll talk.

  • I saw the tour live in 2003. Mr. Anderson was amazing!! Such an incredible, powerful voice. I loved the show so much, I went back to see it a second time before it left town. So sad to hear of his passing. :(

  • @asr328 So jealous! I wish I could have seen him perform live.

  • Powerfull, unforgettable, immortal. Wish i've seen this live..

  • Wow, I am amazed by how well he still sings. In regards to the acting he is trying to engage the audience which is a big part of theater. Amazing performance.

  • Also, I'd like to see people perform that song live at 60 or even at 20. I won't pretend to judge his singing, considering I'm no expert. I think musical theater performance is always about character though, and that comes through. Musical theater should serve theater first, then music.

  • @thriller94 I'm going to go ahead and guess you're somewhere in your teens (94...so 17 or so). Not only is performing the same role for 30 years an imposing task when it comes to acting, but having performed such a role after having lived the life he had...I think it's safe to say the performance is stellar. Performing a role for a few months is challenging when it comes to believing it the same way you would when you started. In fact, I would say it's one of his best.

  • Carl was the best man to perform Judas...

    RiP

  • @thriller94 ... i was in that show with him and he was F@cking Fantastic EVERY time he went on stage. it's funny how people like you with obviously no sense of taste think they have the right to criticize one of the greatest musical theater performers of our time. he sang the shit out of that song and all the others in that show. not to mention he was an awesome person. RIP. I'm curious as to what makes YOU such an expert to criticize a master. please tell me.

  • Funny how American Idol has turned everyone into a singing critic. Assholes.

  • Uh when was it sharp or flat? When he chose to sing it a different way then the movie? Singers change, especially after 30 years.

  • @Thriller94 Let's supposse all that you say is true... Do you realize that by this time he was almost 60 and had fought against leucemia for a long time? Man, singing like that with cancer is beyond good and evil. You just look up and hope to be some day like that.

  • @crimsonking1235813 It's funny how people are now amazing voice critics, and how they criticize someone like this when there precious glee singers can barely sing without being auto-tuned!

  • @Thriller94 I agree.

  • Thanks for sharing this, it's great. Carl still had it! May he RIP, it is so sad that he isn't here anymore.

  • Thanks for sharing this!

It's amazing how Carl could sing the role when he was almost 60.

    May he rest in peace.
