Other songs to listen to by Nazareth include:No Mean City,Steamroller,Goin' Loco,Sleepwalker,Woke Up This Morning,Turn On Your Receiver,This Month's Messiah,Gone Dead Train,Thinkin' Man's Nightmare,When The Lights Come Down,The Toast,No Mean Monster,Lifeboat,Watch Your Step,Telegram,Vancouver Shake Down,This Flight Tonight,Holiday,Pop The Silo
I just listened to this entire album on iMesh, except the song Love Hurts. The album is still a mind blowing experience. Also I listened to one of their other albums:Big Dogz. It should have been the follow-up to Hair Of The Dog.
I first heard this song back in '75 living in a boarding school. It was absolutely haunting and addictive. I rediscover it again around 78 - 79 and couldn't stop listening to it every night when I went to bed. It was a real trip. I just came upon it again and man, did it bring back wonderful memories.
I have started writing a theatrical adaptation to this albumn. I want a large slowly turning circular stage that has a band playing this music, and the other part of the circle with actors in a play playing the roll of Jesus and others who were part of his life. Scenes such as the garden of Gethsemene where he is betrayed by Judas. Would anyone dig that? R & R and theatre combined! Think Alice Cooper, Welcome to my Nightmare.
If I still had an old school record player I would own two albums. One would be 2112 by Rush and the other is this record. I destroyed my dad's copy of this album listening to it.
@MrStreet1969 I agree,it is the best. But my favorite album by them is Rampant because it was the first album that I owned by Nazareth. I now have iMesh and have downloaded 10 Nazareth albums to my computer, most of which are live albums. Awesome band!
played the drums to this whole album when I was a kid, later in a cover band I insisted we do Beggars Day, Miss Misery and at least Hair of the Dog etc.
Greatest band of all time bar none man. I bow to this band they are my saviors not literally but that is how much I respect them. They have shaped me more than any other thing in my life.
This is music from my ''LOST'' year.I turned 22 in March 1974.In early February 1974 I took LSD for the one and only time in my life.Of course I took too much,3 double hits of white blotter.I spent an entire year after that smoking hashish everyday.Only music like this kept me sane.I thought that this album was the best album that I had ever heard.

I got this Album not knowing what to expect... I had never heard of the band. This album single handedly changed my views on music. This song is a masterpeice. Gave me great memories.
A cosmic piece. A rare jewel. Very rare. I was 7 years old when my brother got this album for a day and recorded it on his real to real. I listened to it pretty much every night in the dark, through his headphones. Do I need to discribe what it did to me?
Well, it did pure magic and beyond. And I did not even speak English back then. I did not suffer in my life, had great parents, no drugs, etc. so this is what gave my little soul dimensions and depth. It is deep. Thanks, guys...!
@AttilaMesits I had abusive parents, smoke a ton of pot, snorted coke, and drink an ocean of Jack Daniels, but this lp has given depth to my soul as well. Keep on Rock'n .. Keep the Faith!
@AttilaMesits Man, you're singing my song buddy. I too listen to the music late into the night, never do drugs, had great parents, the music was enough to get me my highs. Love it!
every once in a while a band comes along that has brillant sound and a message with such conviction. long live the greats and all who appreiciate it!!!

Their song "Hard Living" should have been on the Hair Of The Dog album instead of Love Hurts. Also another great song by Nazareth is "Down Home Girl"

So it rotates back and forth between the band and the play.
