  • amazing! check out me and my friends cover tell me wat u think

  • Vinnie Appice is playing drums in this video from the Derringer reunion tour of 2008. I met up with Danny and Vinnie at their Coach House show in San Juan Capistrano, So. California. Nice fan video! I wish there was more Danny Johnson youtube videos!

  • @EmeraldlorraineOC I'm happy that you like it! Cool story, too!

  • Sorry - I just posted a URL leading to what I thought was a recent pic of Mesco, but the band looks REALLY retro! (Maybe it's just a "retro revival" band from 2002! Who knows?)

  • I saw Derringer with Foreigner back in the late 70s or early 80s at the spectrum in Philly - all I remember was being blown away and they were throwing their guitars back and forth - is there any footage from back then of the shows?

  • Mamamia! Great story! I love to hear storys from the golden age of Rock'n Roll. If you'll find ever DERRINGER footage from that period; let me know!

  • Exists any recording of The Bandits?

  • The DJ & the Bandits bass player was Gordon Copley of No.Hollywood (originally from Temple City). I was with Gordon from '77-'98. He is the father of our two children, Rachel & Brendan. He left the music biz back in 1997. The Bandits had a few drummers, originally Glen Graves from his beloved Shreveport, AJ Gallas from the Kats & then the really hairy guy Craig Mesco.I think Craig went on to play with Wild Child as I saw a picture of him on one of the past promo posters.

  • lorraine ,sad to hear you and gordon split up. hope you are doin good , what about jay shellen the drummer. hes with asia now .

  • The 2 Derringer studio LPs, Derringer & Sweet Evil are 2 great LP's! I have everything by Rick. 83's Good Dirty Fun LP is great too!

    Rock on, Rick!

  • Danny, Rick, Vinny and Kenny fans out there; watch out for an official live recording from DERRINGER! I pray for this moment!

  • Great! Danny Johnson: Forget Steppenwolf, the "Grrh Grrh Thing" and all the other projects and stay with Rick. You shine, Brother, and even playing "second fiddle" to RD is better than with John Kay! I'm waiting for the Axis or Danny Johnson and the Bandits reunion next!!! (I still remember you from Hop Singh's, the Cuckoo's Nest, us buying you guys a beer before you played at the Golden Bear - and all the rest!)

  • DJ and the Bandits can't reunite. The drummer died a few years back.

  • Really? Do you know the guy's name? I thought I kept up on all that stuff! All I recall (unless I dig up my vinyl in its bright blue album cover) is that they used to call the guy "Conan," and "The Animal" (or something "earthy" like that) and I think he wore a beard, something rare for a Shreveport-to-Los-Angeles band in the early 80s!

If we're thinking of the same person - thanks for the info!

  • Well- the drummer from 1981-84 or 85 was my uncle! His name was AJ Galles (and had alot of nicknames too). He was the drummer for The Kats before joining DJ and the Bandits. So he's been around.

  • Wow - thanks! However, I recall this stocky guy whose physique was equated with "Mongo!" I have to look at the album cover - it has the guy's name on it. I know there was a rhythm guitarist named Jeff Rowlands (?) and Glenn Copley (later with Black Sabbath on one song) was on bass.

I'm sure your uncle had some great stories! Take Care!

  • the rhythm guitar player was jeff rollings and he past away some years back. god bless him. he was a great entertainer. and good friend.

  • We brought a six-pack to the back alley of the Golden Bear in HB to share w/Danny, Gordon and "Conan," (Craig).

Jeff, (AKA "the best-dressed guy in Hollywood,") got there too late for the beer! My friend recalls Jeff snorting Chloroseptic in the restroom at Hop Singh's to clear his throat! Wild man + great voice, especially singing the late Phil Seymour's classic "Turn Up the Night!" Need to find my blue album, with "Nothin' to Lose," used in the movie "Fade to Black" with Dennis Christopher.

  • thats a great story man !!! i worked with danny johnson for years, with axis, dj and the bandits and private life,he used to come over my house and jam .

  • the drummer was craig mesco on that blue album dj and the bandits , gordon copley on bass , jeff rollings on guitar ,and i think jaime sheriff played some keyboards on it.

  • DAMNED! How could i say this is Rock'n Roll Hoochie Koo??? Maybe cause it reminds me of the "Lawdy Mama" part from R'n R Hoochie Koo. I was sleeping & many thanx for waking me up. Next i'll have to change the title. Sorry folks!!!

  • this part is the end of the song BEYOND THE UNIVERSE + just some seconds of the beginning of ROCK N' ROLL HOOCHIE KOO !

  • Great Stuff! I would listen to Derringer Live for hours practicing, I just played it wow they were smokin!!!

  • Hey muddbunni! You took the words right out of my mouth. You're right, if you get the chance to see these musicians rockin', you feel it: They wrote such great songs and playin it so intensive, Danny & Rick are one of the best guitar couple i've ever heard in my life!

  • Why doesn't anyone play like this anymore? It is so killer rock show. Great band. I hope they do more concerts in USA.
