  • @Domini478 My opinion is my opinion rather you agree with it or not. So all that "You're dumb as fuck" shit is irrelevant.

  • Thing about Penny is despite putting him second to MJ in his prime, his game was more patterned after Magic than his Airness. His amazing court vision with great athleticism allowed him to fundamentally break down what defenses were giving him. He never had that fire that set apart Jordan from others, but IMO he was certainly a one of a kind talent that doesn't come around often.

  • @newagepun He was no where near MJ...ole dumbass!

  • @Domini478 that wasn't my point if you read what I wrote. Do you glaucoma or a learning disability that prevents you from understanding shit?

  • nice

  • 2nd fav of all time

  • too bad players like penny, hill, k-mart, yao and t-mac were struck by injuries that hindered their careers, but guys like najera and richard jefferson play forever.

  • if i were drafted by the magic i wouldn't wear number 1 either. penny could have been in the hall of fame if it werent for the damn knees

  • I bet people don't remember when he took on the Miami Heat in the playoffs by himself, penny gone always be in my top 5 best players ever along with Kobe, MJ, Iverson, and Isiah Thomas, i love this video

  • i mean is it just me?

  • is it me or the one who wears number 1 jersey in orlando will end up being cursed for the rest of his career? just like t-mac & penny

  • its sad how tmac and hardaway both had terrible injuries.. they could have been greats i think the thing about Jordan that made him the best is his durability

  • My favorite player of all times. Hands down. Penny fan! .. even in my after life

  • @Gootch82 i'm right there with you buddy. penny was going to be the best. even jordan stated that he felt comfortable leaving the league in the hands of penny hardaway

  • hes shooting is amazing and footwork unbelievable

  • most underated player ever in the NBA period.

  • @manfish5000 He had only three good seasons...ole dumbass!

  • great video man my dad loved penny when he was at memphis state. a bitter sweet look is the perfect way to look at it. well put man

  • 5:45 skills!!!! Penny was the shit!

  • A incredible player!

  • whats the name of this song @ 1 :17

  • @xXjessisonfirexX "Bittersweet Symphony" - The Verve

  • Penny had probably the best balance skill sets of any one player to play the game of basketball. Scoring, assist, rebounding, offense n defense. As a floor general his transition game was second to no one. He played 4 positions (point n shooting guard, n point/small forwards) effortlessly!

He elevated his teammates game better than anyone except Majic. His one-on-one skills was devastatingly lethal. His basketball acumen was top-tier

Shaq n Penny should have stayed together for 5-7 rings

  • Thank you so much for ur answer but I was not talking about the Verve, I was talking about the music b4 the Verve sounds like a soundtrack, the music that opens the video.

  • @joe6stringsibanez Ok idk about that one

  • Does anybody know what is the name of the first music on this video?

  • @joe6stringsibanez The Verve-Bittersweet Symphony

  • The pass at 8:03 is off the damn chain!!

  • I got 3 words Oh My God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The move @ 7:26 is super sick

(One of the best uniqe nba player. He was very very special talented player. He is in a different classification with Kobe, Lebron etc. Maybe we can compare him with Jordan (I agree that Jordan was better). )

  • I still love him to this day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fucking injuries..Grant hill, penny, T-mac..hell if I forgot any wouldve been future hall of famers, reply with their names.

  • his career is like tracy mcgrady's. once great now a triving injured.

  • man this guy was a nobody. he sucked

  • Amazing player, passer and finisher

  • penny was the shit! i love u penny

  • best tiger we witness here in memphis....oh yea cant forget about d rose....lol

  • I remember Penny and Shaq coming to the UK for an exhibition game vs Atlanta. You knew, when you saw him, that he was going to be something really special. As someone else has said, Penny and Grant Hill, two player's who's potential was never fully realised due to injuries..

  • Penny was my favorite player back when I loved the game the most. This really takes me back. Thanks for sharing.

  • that video was sooo bittersweet

  • Comment removed

  • You could probably put "bittersweet symphony" to video of a mugging and it would give you chills

  • this video also reminds me how great grant hill would have been if were not for the injuries but the sadest of all i would say is t-mac . he never reached his full potential cause of the injuries.

  • damn penny was nasty in college. he looked more ferocious as fuck

  • Comment removed

  • @rkpranti no it doesn't. that doll was very cool and still is, you're just trying to be funny but epicly failed. That is all, have a nice day :)

  • catonic u r wrong ur forgetting 98 class vc paul pierce and j williams white choclate 3 very big ppl in kids eyes my eyes at da time the only penny ill ever remember is the magic penny the bobblehead the penny n shaq show with co stars nick anderson n dennis scottthey predicted penny to b the next jordan when he was ballin wit the magic 92 to 95 only a handfull of nba players can say they were mentioned to b good as mj

  • Does anyone know the name of the song playing from 3:15~3:50? If so could you please Msg me or respond to this comments? Thanks and much appreciated.

  • shame he couldn't make it back and be like Grant Hill

  • Injuries i know it;s part of the game. It's so sad that it had to happen to such a nice guy like penny. Had it not been injuries he would clearly be far the next succeeder to jordan crown. Possibility he would of won couple of championship had the magic get some good supporting playas around penny after shaq left and also should of fire brian hill alot more earlier. Should of went after chuck daly when they lost to the bulls in 96.

  • what position was he..?

  • @LooFooKoo

Early in his career, he was a PG, of the magic johnson mold. As he got traded and shuffled around, he became a playmaking SG

  • When Grant Hill and Penny went down...it paved the way for Iverson's and Kobe's to take over....Penny not only had the game but the swag as well. He was going to take Jordan's spot as the most marketable in the NBA, because the black youth all wanted to be lil penny's. Iverson came in and fucked up the whole NBA, cause they young dudes all tried to be like him. The next influential people didn't come till Lebron and Wade. Now John wall will prolly be the next penny.

  • dude was a nightmare problem and a beast all in one

  • hey whats the name of the song at the end with the orlando highlights?? i love itt

  • One of the most beautiful passes of all time. How did he know other player would be there? Penny was great.

  • shaq and penny was a better combo than shaq and kobe bitch azz on da real they got along better.

  • With every great dunker. Is tremendous Knee pain in the future.

  • It kills me to think what might have been.... Memphis will always love ya Penny... welcome home...

  • just like injuries have slowed down t-mac who knows what could have been if it wasn't for the dam injuries this is why i hate it when people say that everything happens for a reason .

  • easily could have been top ten of all time or even greatest of all if wasnt for injuries

  • PENNY WAS kobe bryant before kobe bryant, and I would say that he had even better potential than kobe bryant... PENNY HAD BASKETBALL in his finger, all other had to work for it.

  • Grant Hill and Penny should've been the face of the NBA in late 90's and early 00's too bad the their injuries took a toll on both of them.

  • @MrClickme1234 I agree. They should have been the successors of MJ and Magic. Man, thinking about it makes me real sad. I still have a Penny Hardaway card stashed.

  • @MrClickme1234 yea but g hill bounced back and is starting at 40 years old

  • @MrClickme1234 your so right about that same can be said about t-mac

  • @MrClickme1234 hell yea .....n grant is a trooper still shitting at his age lol ma fuckaz rated 80 in 2k12 lol crazy

  • This video sums up my hero and favorite athlete of all time....Penny4life1.....

  • one of the greatest!

  • At his prime he was second to Jordan no doubt!

  • He could've been one of the all-time greats. It's ashame his knees didn't hold out. The guy was exciting to watch.

  • @poooky321 Could have been??? He is if you ask me. I put him second to Jordan. If the injuries didn't hit him as hard, they'd probably be neck and neck for the top spot. Penny is definitely one of the greatest.

  • @BeatSmithEsco44 You are stupid as fuck...he is no where near MJ! He had only three good seasons. He couldn't win without Shaq and his last good season was in 1997. He is no where near one of the greatest!

  • Whats the song playing @ 1:00??? Anyone knws

  • @Iraqnback bitterwet symphony.. the song wzs sad..fits the vid just right.. too bad for penny

  • happy birthday penny

  • im training basketball so i choosed no . 25 in honor of penny hardaway because he and shaq are my fav. players . !

penny was no 25 in college and high school !

  • Penn is goin back in the NBA & wants to sign with the miami Heat

  • hes 39 now !

  • @mickee06 Breaking news:Penny hardaway was speaking in espn OTL first report that penny hardaway might go back to the nba to the maimi heat with the 3 kings.Copy and paste to spread the word.

  • Such a good mix. I wish this was in HD

  • @ Domini478 You're in every single Penny's vids ranting and dissing on everyone's comment. Why so angry with Penny man? Everyone posting here just want to say props and appreciation to Penny's short lived greatness. And we don't need your comment. If your a hater, get the fuck off man. Your just wasting your time answering to each and everyone's praise. Your funny and pathetic at the same time.

  • it's sad because he still had game towards the end of his career!!!

  • Injuries, injuries, injuries........Poor bastard. He was so good in his first couple of seasons.

  • hardaway was one of the most smartest tall guards i have ever known also one of the most underrated.

  • WTF happen to him come back penny i hate lebum james so overrated love from Sierra leone

  • Penny was the truth before he got hurt, I still would put him in the hall of fame because he playedduring the time when damn near every player was good he had to gaurd Jordan and the pippens and the clyde drexlers, steve smiths etc...I still even remember when he lit Jordan up for 60 I still have it on my VHS tape, penny wasthe man back in the days

  • @deteesfinest You are stupid because nobody can go into the Hall Of Fame for being good for three seasons(he really was good for 2 because he was hurt for most of the 1997 season)...Another thing, he haven't accomplished nothing to get in the Hall Of Fame either...hell, he didn't even win the Rookie of the Year award...MJ didn't guard Penny, ole dumbass...Scottie guarded him, so he killed Scottie...not MJ! MJ was a shut down defender! Penny was good for 2 years!

  • @Domini478 First of Dumb ass who gives a shit my opinion wasn't directed at anybody I was speaking my opinion of the clip so you replying was a waste of fuckin typing you dumb ass who would seriously write a comment back about someone else opinion ,that just proves how fuckin lonley and depressed you are, second you dumb bitch i have the tape with penny gaurding Jordan in the orlando game on video tape so shut the fuck up bitch and get yo facts together first for you reply to somebody

  • @deteesfinest STFU! You don't know me...so how the fuck you know I am a loner??? Ole dumb ass nigga! Oh yeah, fuck your opinion and lick my balls!

  • @Domini478 cuz you keep writing to me bitch that's how I know you a loner and obviously you gay too why would u want another dude to lick your balls you fag ass bitch quit writing to me the next time you write me i won't reply, have a nice lonely life faggot.....100$ bet anybody this faggot reply back to me anyways

  • The world was cheated when both Penny Hardaway and Grant Hill were hit by injuries.

  • Penny is the second most popular NBA player behind Jordan during the 90's!

  • That move starting at 7:27 is fuckin' ace!!! I took it from Penny back in my hey...no one else used it and I don't think anyone uses it like that today. Try it...jumpers all day.

  • @blueprophet9 yeah, well Ive always believed that this new generation of basketball fans has forgotten the amazing powerhouses of the early to late 1990s. Penny,Jordan,Pippen,Drexler,Reggie Miller,Payton,Rodman,Grant Hill...names can go on and on,there were some HUGE players in the 1990s,nowdays there is Lebron James.Kobe is cheap, and I dont know many others who even compare to the list i put up.

  • @Mathew1985AZ

Sports like music and other things have gone to shit.

  • @blueprophet9 man thats the same thing I thought of !music and sports have completely gone to crap....man everybody tries to act like the shit coming out now is original and top notch...but people dont even know the roots! i got cousins who praise lebron james, yeah hes great but they have no idea that Lebron would just be another average guy in the 1990s attempting to shatter MJ's record

  • @Mathew1985AZ

Put Rodman or Stacey Augmon on him...at best he's getting 14pts every meeting. Damn right, NBA defense went so hard in the 90s. I don't want to even get started on the music tip...arghhh!

  • @blueprophet9 Rodman was not human!that man could rebound over anyone as well.Defense has gone to complete shit ..I havent watched an NBA game with seriousness for about 12 years, now I started watching the phoenix suns my home team vs the lakers...sooo disgraceful the first 2 games. I was like "ARE YOU KIDDING ME" stoudamire is a joke!he doesnt even defend. Our team was letting the lakers get into the free throw zone to set up all sorts of plays.defense has gone to shit.

  • @Mathew1985AZ

Stoudamire played so weak he made me question the gambling angle of it all...seriously. My buddy is a Suns freak, even made his own mascot(it's uncanny & 2ft) in middle school of the gorilla lol. Whatever happened to Raja Bell? He was possibly the best man-to-man defender in the game for many critics. Guess it's hard to play defense when no one else is, huh? : (

  • @blueprophet9 I thought the same also, what if stoudamire is throing the game with subtle defense moves. Defense is what will get the suns a victory against a team like the Lakers.......any small mistake in defense can lose the game, and stoudamire has no excuse for not even raising his arms to block dunks right infront of him. I stopped watching NBA for a long time after knowing games were setup for the Lakers.

  • @Mathew1985AZ

What piqued my 'bullshit detector' was his total lack of rebounding in those games. Coaches always say " if you can't score or handle the ball...rebound, rebound, rebound! " Yeah, that article/book from and about the ref game is sickening. If you go to Vegas...those sports gamblers are a different breed. Hated Stoudamire's "I always give my best when I play..." crap at the end of game 3 interview. Again, it's sickening. Sports can be a holy ground, nothing but honest work.

  • His knee injury robbed him of what would have been a hall of fame career. People compared him to Jordan but this dude was Magic Jognson 2 but with a jumper. What a shame his career ended up the way it did.

  • I meant Magic Johnson 2.

  • Great video...Penny is one of the greatest NBA shooting-guards (forwards) ever ...

  • WHERE IS PENNY NOW ANYWAY??

  • its a shame about Hardaway but there;s been alot of guys that have come in the nba and havent reached their potential.

Some guys just dont have the bodies to take the grind. He and Grant Hill are probably the best examples...T-mac will probably be on the list soon.

its amazing that Jordan made it his whole career without breaking down. Because he put twice as much wear on his body as some of these guys.

  • continued-He might've been a better ball player after the injuries (skills-wise), but he wasn't the same. In " his prime" lack some court sense and defense to a certain degree.

  • He played too much off of his athleticism. That was the problem. Because he never was the same player after he lost it. He had great skills, but without his athleticism, he looked mediocre!!!

  • Chris Webber was a good talent comming into the league, but man did the Warriors blow that 1993 deal that sent Penny to Orlando..Loved Penny growing up.

  • o dam he's like no-travel lebron in his days

  • Penny and Grant Hill. Two aces but unfortunatelly also two "what ifs". But damn I am so glad to see them playing on the top of their careers.

  • I still blame Brian Hill for Penny's injuries, They lost Shaq, got used to winning and played him through his injuries, he was young and they told him this is how it is in the NBA and he trusted them, F U Brian Hill !

  • Penny was straight nasty till' injuries stole his hops.

  • easily my all-time favorite player...used to pretend i was him on the playground...lol

  • @Bovain i remember back in 97 i bought a pair of his shoes, pretended like i was penny, and knocked down 10 jumpers in a row. that was in 4th grade

  • @Bovain me two

  • @domini478 yea he didn't win any awards probly because he was injured the rest of his career sooo i think if he would've kept playing he would have beeen great no doubt. and another quote penny was also mj's favorite player. he liked him so much that he invited him to his private gym to play which he only invited a handful of his favorite players to play and scrimmage with him

  • Penny was THE MAN, period.

  • My favorite player period...obviously with the comments....he is the reason I started loving the NBA, I watched my team with some names like skiles, kite, turner, royal, and kerr (yes steve kerr) before he came in, but damn did he make us better ....now even today we got a good shot of the title, shits gonna be hard with LA, Cavs, Mavs, Denver, Hawks etc. but I love my team....GO MAGIC!!!!!!

  • Anfernee Hardaway is in my opinion one of the top 5 Point Gaurds of all time. idc what nobody say. the man was 6,8 and could grab boards and shoot. he is basically like a skinny version of LeBron james that can shoot the 3 ball unlike lebron....even lebron said penny was his fav player. You cant hate on penny man especially cuz he played for orlando and thats in my state he carried the team

  • I guess representing your team against the whole world and wininning a gold medal dont mean shit, but then again not being in the HoF and still being loved is more then some players will ever earn...

I never needed to know about awards or records to be a fan of NBA players, just watching them was enough....

  • For a NBA player to be remembered for his playing style, abilities, and versatility with only a few years to show for it, is still remarkable. Don't be mad cause someone who didn't achieve a Magic/Bird status gets the reginition he does even till today. Injury is a fact, not an excuse. For a player to not win the amount of awards that other recognizable players have just shows how much he influenced AND impacted the game during his era.

  • The only faggot ass nigga is the ignorant one with no skill and no respect...must be a family thing, go figure Domini.....Jordan imo is G.O.A.T (if you need the definition domini then you dont need to be talkin with the grownups) but penny had skill, he had class, and more importantly he loved to play the game. Although not as competitive as Jordan (dont know many who are), he still represented himself and his team with dignity, respect, and with talent.

  • Nice video penny was a one of the best in my eyes if he would have stayed healthy he would be a hall of fame player today.

  • does anybody know how did his injury happen exactly?

I heard that he had a crash with Samake Walker during a regular season game, but does anybody know the true story?

  • Best Overall player ever - had all the skills you cud want in a player (offensive/defensive) --- kinda reminds me of kobe,MJ,V.Carter,TMac put together.

  • for all of yall people on here arguing about penny and jordan and how do they rank in the all time list and all that. Look it up in your researches if you wanna be bad you gotta know what ur talking about aight. Jordan even said quote Penny is the SMARTEST player i have ever played against unquote

  • WTF are you talking about??? Penny won't go no where near the Hall Of Fame...he was good for 4 seasons, that won't get you in...Penny has no NBA Records, while MJ got plenty!!! Penny is not a legend...that is a disrespect to the real legends like MJ, Magic, and Bird...ole dumb mofo!

  • He should've played for the Memphis Grizzlies at some point in his career. After all, Memphis is his home.

  • Everyone thought Penny was the next MJ and it was looking like that but then Kobe came around and BLEW his DREAMS AWAY!

  • Kobe didnt blow his dreams away his knee did

  • Damn great job on this video. One of the best PGs to ever play the position. ORLANDO NEEDS TO RETIRE HIS NUMBER!!

  • Although my favorite player will always be plagued with "what if's" and "what could've been", plz give respect for someone who brought soo many people to love the game of basketball. He nvr needed to win a ring to show people how much he loved to play...his style spoke for itself.....GO MAGIC!!!!!

  • If penny isn't wearing a Magic uniform, thats not penny.. He was a shadow of himself after he left Orlando and had the microfracture surgery. But when he was penny..... Unreal!

  • One of the best passers of the 90's!

  • where is ya'll getting the most talent ever from... I personally didn't see it ya'll must be some young boys are something... Penny was a good player yeah talented yeah but most ever hell no... I think Grant Hill was more talented...

  • raydawg325 BS The Most dominant player next to Jordan was Olajuwon Penny wasn't in the Top five of dominant players of the 90's 1. Jordan 2. Olajuwon 3. David Robinson 4. Barkley 5. The Mailman... All these players have rings in the 90's or made it to the finals...

  • @Riggsavelli

thats one hell of a top 5 though... if you keep going down that list you probably have payton ewing penny and richmond imo

  • penny led the magic to the finals in 95 dumbass. and he was more talented than hill; penny was 6'7" and played point because he was such a great passer. the guy was the second coming of magic johnson

  • Shaq led the Magic, not Penny...

  • @statdis - Definately. He was the closest thing to Magic since he retired. He played 2 guard later in his career, which doesn't make sense to me. He should have the ball in his hands as much as possible.

A great player also needs to rely on some breaks along the way. In Penny's case, he didn't have the best coaching, had Shaq leave, and had some bad injuries later on.

  • bullshit raydawg325. penny had the best talent basketball has ever seen. if he wouldnt have gotten hurt hands down penny better than michael. hands down!!!!!!!

  • do drugs much? watch some jordan highlights before u talk fag

  • Man..you are one dumb dude because Penny didn't win no awards...he was good for 4 years and he haven't accomplished shit,,,MJ is way better than Penny...remember, Penny got no awards..faggot ass nigga...

  • After Jordan the most dominant player of the 1990s

  • mayne forreal ma man penny brings back memories. the greatest ever played. mayne Tyra Banks knows it not Bo, Tyra lol

  • dude when i was in high school Penny was the bomb! we all wanted to rock 1 or 4 for him & c webb.. the nba was in good hands.. pity about the knees...

  • @drphilbboy he was my favorite. i had his white and blue shoes...it is a shame about his injuries.

  • When MJ retired and everyone saying Kobe would be the next MJ, they forgot about Penny. Penny is a better player than Kobe, any time.

  • @MichaelTadashi What happen to Penny??

  • @3766401, He was released by the Heat in Dec 2007 and never played again. Although he was 36 and that's considered old for an NBA player, but he could be still be very good if only he didn't suffer all those constant injuries.

  • Penny is the man most talented player ever

  • yeah right

  • shit quality

  • @attila840702 hatin on a great video

  • dude was unstoppable with orlando.

  • Penny was zhe best , he was a so grat player and his Style amazing .. he injuries destroys him so much . he had the best b-ball style in the NBA !! never never ever had so good moves than hardaway ...

  • Kobe just learned how to pass two years ago, Lebron developed a lethal shot in his third season, Magic Johnson never had the abilty to dunk over opponents, Penny Hardaway is the only player I ever have known to come straight into the NBA doing all off this and more. The only player that really had a complete game coming into the leage. With more determination this guy would have rivaled Jordan in greatness!

  • everybody wants to be like penny

  • Penny,Grant Hill,Webber,Alonzo are forgotten superstars

  • Yeah I remember Penny's last glory days were in those 2000 Playoffs with Phoenix going against the Duncan-less (injuries) Spurs. Phoenix closed the series out in 4 games with a Penny triple-double and the 2nd highest scorer that series was Todd Day. LOL

  • this guy could have been up there with the magics, jordan, kobes and lebrons of the game. people talk about lebron and wade and kobe- but they forget pennys contribution. it was short- but he and grant hill were as bright as any players the league as seen

  • @slantone Hardaway and Hill got a raw deal...injuries, eh. I'd put him slightly above Wade and McGrady, and below Lebron and Kobe. Unfortunately we'll never really know.

  • well hopefully as the video suggests, people wont forget. he was amazing. my favourite player growing up. the best thing about him , was that he wasnt big or tough or strong, but he was witty on the court- and so smart, he was like a flyweight that outboxes bigger guys. he just had a knack and nose for the game and for the ball- and instinct that cant be taught. i dont think ive seen such an pure instinct since.

  • @slantone magics kobes lerons? no S necessary.....

  • @slantone true!!! grant hill and penny were great, i mean hill still play great basket ball, but when they first came to the league it was amazing!
