@krugtech That would be so awesome to see a video of your van pulling up to a corvette and rev the ICE, the corvette guy laughs.... Then the back window lowers and the side doors open to reveal the monsterous turbine engine. The light turns green and you leave him in the dust.... :-D
@bballguy162006 What you said is exactly what i told the producers of Monster Garage. Everyting was falling into place then they wanted to use a Celica instead of a van so I bailed on that project and built the van myself. Yeah, I need to get the video of that. We pull crap like that all the time!
My only question is, are there any issues with the turbine shattering that rear window with the heat it puts off. That window unless specially made is Tempered glass. Extreme heat would probably shatter it, granted the sudden cool down doesn't.
I install glass on commercial buildings for a living, this why I ask.
This was a concern of mine. I considered a sheetmetal replica of the glass because of these concerns. I used the stock glass to set it up and tried it and luckily it's held up to some pretty extreme conditions without any problems so far.
So this engine is from a helicopter right? I didn't know helicopters had jet engines :O So what is the advantages of this engine on a helicopter? Does it give the pilot more forwards speed? Or does it power the props some how?
it's technically a turboshaft. It uses turbines to power an output shaft that can turn rotor blades, propellers, wheels, generators or whatever. A jet engine is a turbojet and it uses turbines to provide thrust. Just think of a turboshaft as a jet engine that blows it's thrust on an extra turbine wheel connected to an output shaft. They're all turbines.
I can't believe they spelled your name wrong at DOT ; )
These are some cool videos. I've shown this to some people who wouldn't normally search this kind of thing, and everybody comments on the soccer sticker.
Damn Chris, that rocks! Glad to see you finally got that up and running. Hope there is a safety cutout in it that keeps the engine from running in the retracted position with the window up. Oh nevermind, people like us would never make a mistake like that! We don't ever make mistakes or have failures. (hehe) Keep up the great work brother! That race is coming soon, the bike is getting real close now.

Are those side doors motorized as well? It would be awesome if you could just hit a couple buttons from the driver's seat and be ready to go.

@timerider4 I just hooked up the side doors for the Speed Channel show Car Science. March 16th on speed

Department Of Transportation
It was a joke about the license plate, but I assume there was only 7 digits available and you altered your name to fit.

yeah, georgia is only 7 digits.

That soccer mom sticker on the back is just too kewl. ;-) A couple of "Baby On Board" tags hanging from each exhaust would be perfect!
