Well, you have 3 alternative choices: you can have barter and trade (where one good is traded for another), you can also have communal property where nobody owns anything and shares all (it has never been able to overcome human's incessant need to "own" things), and you can have government running the show (the worst possible scenario imaginable). All of these are insufficient for all needs. Currency allows for the exchange of objects that have the accepted value of goods (i.e gold money).
Remember, FOX screwed Ron Paul by leaving him out of the debates even though he had more deligates than Giuliani at the time (Giuliani was allowed to participate). Screw the mainstream media: ABC (Disney), NBC and MSNBC (General Electric), CBS (VIACOM) and CNN (Time Warner). They are "bought and paid for" corporate news designed to obfuscate and distract from the real crimes happening in this once great republic.
Reagan believed we should move back to a gold standard. His handlers did not like him to talk about it but he did believe that. Also, Alan Greenspan (before he was corrupted by the fed) promoted a gold standard as a return to sound money. What we have now is Fiat Currency or legalized counterfeiting. Thank God for Ron Paul. He is the only one talking about the criminal enterprise known as the Federal Reserve Bank and the scam that they have perpetrated on the American People since 1913.
Ron Paul is a modern day forefather. Eventually the general public will realize it and turn to him for guidance when things get bad enough. It's already happening.
Just imagine if Fox news gave Dr Ron Paul the credit he earned for serving honestly in the congress for 20 yrs when he was running for president. He might have won.Just imagine what our country would be now, the economy would be picking up, needless wars would be ended. A constitutional government would be emerging.
Imagine, sanity, logic, common sense, morals, integrity being put into the presidency, wow, a 1st.
Just imagine.
But do not forget Ron Paul a name synonymous with liberty.
How crazy does Ron Paul seem now that OPEC and the other major oil consumers are having talks about switching from the Petro-dollar to gold or a basket of currencies?
I am surprised that FOX allowed this interview on air. This is probably a clue everyone. When they are ready to pull the plug on the american market and let gold prices breath, they will start putting it on the news.
Maybe this will help make the danger of fiat money clear.
Imagine you and me are setting across from each other. We create enough money to represent all of the world's wealth. Each one of us has one SUPER Dollar in front of him.
You own half of everything and so do I.
I'm the government though. I get bribed into creating a Central Bank.
You're not doing what I want you to be doing so I print up myself eight more SUPER Dollars to manipulate you with.
All of a sudden your SUPER Dollar only represents one tenth of the wealth of the world!
That isn't the only thing though. You need to get busy and get to work because YOU'VE BEEN STIFFED with the bill for the money I PRINTED UP to get YOU TO DO what I WANTED.
That to me represents what has been happening to the economy, and us, and why so many of our occupations just can't keep up with the fake money presses.
It;s impossible to change the monetary system in such a radical way. The corporations that really own this country, and the world economy, will never let anything like this happen. The only reason why Fox is giving Ron Paul some air time now (after they ridiculed him during the 08 campaign) is because now that the president is not a GOPer anything against the current system is welcome at Fox fake news network.
No it wasnt from yesterday. Here it is posted back in January: watch?v=nHPSmslIOfc
If you would watch the news you would be more educated. You're not going to be "brainwashed" unless you're some kind of idiot. That's pretty nutty and paranoid thinking your going to be brainwashed by the TV.
If I would watch the controlled media I would be more educated? Are you being paid to be ignorant or does it come all natural for you?
Do a few minutes of research on Rupert Murdoch, how many companies own rights to what IS and ISN'T covered through media 'now' compared to say 50 years ago. MSM is simply a means to inform the public a limited source of reality to keep the viewers lost. example: Millions of people are dying each day from corrupt wars and we got M. Jackson coverage 24/7 for weeks.
Libertarian is the belief in respecting individual liberty and property rights. That means you can do as you wish with your body (drugs, prostitution, gambling, etc.) as long as you don' t hurt anyone else. Pretty much live and let others live. Also, Libertarians are against aggression unless in defense so therefore we are naturally anti-war.
Property rights are what you possess or earned such as wages. Libertarians believe you're entitled to your money and that taxes are theft.
It was a rhetorical question. I wanted the definition of libertarianism that someone like David Asman would have been for years. Sarcasm. Thus my including names like Maher and Gravel.
Not that I don't appreciate the warm welcome given to Dr. Paul's message on your show Mr. Asman, but only in the last "couple of months" have you seen the government not obeying the Constitution?

You need to look at the legal tender laws. You can not use gold for payment of goods. You can sell the gold to the person. Big difference.

Ron Paul is a great Conservative except for his terror policies. Otherwise voting for any third party candidate will assure a Democrat victory.

Define "libertarian". Is he the Glenn Beck type "libertarian"? Or the Bill Maher type? A Bob Barr libertarian"? Mike Gravel?
please.
