That is a regular army issue flashlight. All the German graves were bulldozed by the Communists after they recaptured the land. Now no one knows where these people are buried or actually who the individuals were. Whether there are German records of the graves I don't know. If so the records are probably in Moscow along with all those records of those interned in KZs
@Ca1861 Judging by the dark colour of the shoulder boards (olive green or grey??) I can assume that this soldier is an enlisted man from the German Army, but it is impossible to get an indication of what branch he was attached too (need a colour picture) I will do some research and get back to you, but my guess is it maybe a type of radio transmitter that was attached to his tunic for ease of use??

That is a regular army issue flashlight. All the German graves were bulldozed by the Communists after they recaptured the land. Now no one knows where these people are buried or actually who the individuals were. Whether there are German records of the graves I don't know. If so the records are probably in Moscow along with all those records of those interned in KZs

I can assume that this soldier is an enlisted man from the German Army, but it is impossible to get an indication of what branch he was attached too (need a colour picture) I will do some research and get back to you, but my guess is it maybe a type of radio transmitter that was attached to his tunic for ease of use??
