  • Thanks for this very helpful review. I was thinking about getting one used from someone. Now I'm decided. I'm a beginer and like the effects on the Spider III.

  • which channel is like the overdrive channel?

  • @666nothingleft Crunch

  • This guy makes any amp sound good. Obviously his playing is a factor, but I think the guitar must have a lot to do with it.

  • @bradh716 not with a modeling amp, it doesnt lol

  • Im getting it for christmas......

  • @Greenmonty9797 dude you'll like it now, but seriously once you get better in a year or so you'll get tired of it and want something else

get a different amp I would recommend, my videos on my channel have what the amp actually sounds like with out the editing like this video

  • my clean channel is not clean anymore ;( why???

  • @CallOfDuty14ful I had the same problem until I downloaded the instructions and learned how to do a reset, you will also learn how to store your own settings/sounds for each of the four channels. It comes from the factory pre-adjusted to what they figure sounds best. E.G., the clean setting has a couple of effects automatically when you first turn it on, My idea of a clean setting means NO EFFECTS AT ALL, so I reprogrammed mine to sound this way as soon as I turn it on, GOOD LUCK!!

  • @theshipsdrummer how do you reset it because its really annoying me because ive got an effect on my clean sound please tell me how to reset it

  • @theshipsdrummer does it have to be a factory reset ?

  • @CallOfDuty14ful Make it the sound you want and hold the clean button for about 5 seconds! or hold clean then turn amp on to reset all

  • So glad I'm getting this for Christmas!!

  • @michaelarious yeah I sorted it, was slightly out of tune which made it sound B A D :)

  • plz do a review of the 120 watt one!!!!!

  • hi, I have a Line 6 spider 3 (15W) but I don't get any crunch out of mine and was wondering if there are any known flaws with this amp?

  • Glad you are asking for help bro, but the first thing you want to do is buy a guitar with more output power like a Les Paul or a Jackson. Also you need a good amp suitable for this heavy distortion tones, I personally have a Les Paul and I'm looking forward to buy this amp's bigger brother, which has good tones and effects:

    Well Hope this Helped :)

  • Great piece of equipment, I tested out this amp recently and Fox UK Music, where they were more than willing to offer me some great advice on its technical spec, and also a competitive price. Really recommend checking their site out.

  • is there an input anywhere for the footswitch? i can't find one....

  • @fastfingers0

No, there isn't, at least for this one. I think the spider 4 does.

  • Hey, i have the same product. CAn you please help me out how can i record from the amp? I mean how do people record from the amp as they say they do? Also since there is a 'record' port on amp

  • I've had this amp for about a year and half now, it's served me well, but it's time for an upgrade. perfect amp for a beginner, worth the 90$

  • @RaRiira Hey, can you help me? I have this amp as well, been playing for a year and a half, and I own a Squier strat... I play metal, btw. I'm looking for an upgrade, as well, but which one should I upgrade first? Guitar or amp?

  • It sounds like shit v.v spider 4 a lil less but a notable difference. But I'm pretty such by 2020 line 6 is going to be god like. But for now I say it's best to spend a little more and buy a vox+ amp it's a bit more money but way better

  • so should i buy this err what? some one tell me!

  • "then we go to type echo" lol, you english...

  • Does it help to get a Line 6 Spider IV 75 watts or something ? Or is it just as bad ?

  • @Blinkyboy99 cool...I like it too!

  • Without a doubt, my worst buy ever...

  • Im not a big fan of the default settings, atleast for my Epiphone Les Paul Studio Alpine White. The clean one is pretty amazing, has a lot of sound to it, especially bass. The thing that is kinda irritating is how hard it is to give that full roomy sound to the crunch preset, or a overdrive preset you make yourself. If you play clean, then switch over, it can easily sound flat. IF you tweak it right though, its all good. Combine it with a dropped tuning, and its dope! Lot of sustain on the drive

  • Get the peavey vypyr, 1000000x time better

  • Another really cool feature is the off switch!

  • They get so shitty with age.

  • whoa this is a great practice amp you cant beat it for the price i paid 90$ brand new 2 years warranty guitar center!!!!!!!!!! <3

  • the effects not having seperate knobs is cheap.

  • not good for metal..

  • @Codsrock could you please try more low chgugging?

  • I love this amp

  • It isn't my favourite

  • has anyone ever used the record out on this amp, i want to hear it D; let me know if theres a demo

  • nice because of you i bought the amp and i very like it and you got some awesome skills on your guitar man ^^

  • im selling my line 6 spider III 15 watt for 70 bucks. hit me up if you live in the fayetteville NC area and you want it

  • hmm i just paid £60 for this second hand! Doh!!!!!

  • @SwanseaTosh are you not happy? XD

  • @16Metallaro12 I like it but if i coulda saved some money, i'm all for that!

  • its awsome hearin the amp on youtube but way different in reall life even fucking better

  • I like Peavey vypyr 15/30+. More Amp and effect rack.

  • @metallica19980208

It's 'Pounds' he obviously from the U.K.

  • Everything by Line 6 sounds terrible 4 distortion. It's very coarse & harsh - not smooth & ballsy. SOME transistor stuff (Mesa Triaxis, Sansamp, JMP1) R OK 4 a 'modern' sound - or the 'valvestate' stuff, but 4 the best tone go with Laney tube amps =) They wipe the floor with everything, especially with an SG with alnico chrome cover type pickups.

  • where ?

  • i just got it new for $30

  • what is the first chord of the video ?

  • @randallance. The dude in the video you made fun of is a serious uk session guitar player. Put his name in YouTube, and check out how serious. His name is michael casswell. But you were right, he does have a bit of the jack sparrow about him in this vid.

  • @1ocd

well ... as a typical american rock-n-roll fan , and son of a former pro guitar player, i must say i had never heard of him ...... i am now expanding my musical tastes into other types of music , and have been reviewing some of his stuff and i must say i find it interesting.. thanks for the poke in his direction !

  • i made fun of the dude in the vid. but ..... i went out n bought the amp due to his demo ... LOL

  • does anyone have ac/dc settings for this amp?

  • I have that amp, it is so sick it is the best amp i ever bought

  • i have that amp it is so sick

  • what kind of music is this amp good for?

  • @metalmachine00 why?

  • jack sparrow rocks ><

  • great amp for the price. rivals my old marshall tube amp by a mile!

  • " as reviewed by capt. jack sparrow **

  • I plugged my guitar-electric drums-bass-piano through this and then use the line out into my tascam 24 track mixer, and i can get any sound I want using the two in tandam. Great little amp

  • Been playing on this for nearly 4 years. Metal and Insane channels are worthless. Clean can be good for blues, jazz, and rock clean tones if you know how to set it up. Same with the crunch, although I find it lacking in brightness. The best, somewhat natural sounding tones I've gotten from it were from the clean and crunch channels cranked all the way, full volume (control volume with guitar). Crunch cranked like this with drive at around 1 o clock is just like Clapton in Cream.

  • don't buy this amp, get the peavey Vypyr, its 10000x better (and if you dont like the plastic fangs they can be easily removed).

  • @zerogravity121

yeah dude you're right! those both amps cost almost same money but Vympyr is MUCH better!

  • Should I get this or a marshall DFX for a epiphone Les Paul Classic?

  • could you use this amp live?

  • @JimX23

Not really...I've got the 30watt. Well...It's great for your room...

But it's horrible for recordings [I can show you...]

    And It can't replace a tube-amp at a gig.

I would personally suggest you to buy a tupe-amp and LINE 6 pedals : Uber Metal&Echo park....

    [personal opinion]

  • I have this. Its a good amp but it sounds like a blanket is covering it

  • the more watts the better these amps sound a 15 watt insane sounds like fuzz while the stack sound a lot cleaner like the new scream metal guitar and for only 300$ more I think its worth it if you want bigger sound buy a art pre for 30$

  • what is a good amp for using pedals

  • @whysoserious1990 marshall amps are good and orange amps are good if you have a decent budget I can't really help much more since it is your sound your building just go down to the music shop and find one with a good natural tone and go from there. I love my spider iii 30 watt and you can by the channel selector with wah foot board board but if you got about a grand get a marshall jcm 900 you will love it then I would plug a cry baby in it then a boss distortion if you need more

  • i have this one,i love the insane effect...

  • i own it, i lovvvvve the crunch effect

  • I have a really annoying issue with this amp.. When ever I use one of the preset sounds and try do adjust the the sounds of it with the knobs, for instance drive, chan volume and master the volume suddently jumps very much either up and down in contradicttion to what adjustments I do.. Really annoying... Is the amp defect or is it that I just don`t undestand how to use it?

  • @unlyckystrike its an amp defect. I have the same problem. I agree that this amp is a good practise amp. however, Im still saving up for a Marshall.

  • This amp is pretty good, not perfect, but i have this one at home and only use it at home.

  • What a great review...!

  • I got the bigger version of this ( 75 watts ) and I what can I say is I can sound the same as mike casswell ( the guy from the video ). Its not only about the amp. Go check your pickup, cables you use and strings. All of these contributes to tone. There's one guitar player who plays with steve vai says steve vai sounded like steve vai even he uses a cheap old squier and a pignose amp. Tone is in the head not in your equipment.

  • i hav it. the metal and insane channels sorta suck. what u pay for is what u get, i guess

  • Hey does anyone know how can i reset any chanel??? i ask because i save my tone but i really wish come back to my defaut chanel!

  • @saiyan7x read the manual

  • @loktarwarrior i dont have the fucking manual dude =(

  • I use it with a line out into my tascam studio mixer

  • These amps suck, after some use the potentiometers go bad on them and get scratchy and crappy. Save your money and get something better like a Peavey.

  • @sielLord. Buy a 1989 valley arts custom pro!

  • why doesnt my amp sound like that? i put the same settings as he has and i have a guitar that is mainly built for distortion and the guitar is good.. but when i put crunch it sounds like shit...... any advice?

  • @SielLord Try going on the Insane channel and turn the drive down.

  • i love the way you play.

  • yeah, after playing with this amp for like, 2 years, the tone went from shit, to smellier shit...

  • After you've had this amp for a long while and you've heard other amps. This amp sounds like crap.. The high gain starts to sound like a pod farm type thing .. Echh -_-

  • @MegaDavetastic Fucking hate the amp now. And its the only one i have =P

  • @MegaDavetastic haha I completely agree, it's a piece of junk.

  • ok what amp shoud i get thise one on=r the peavey vypyr 30 watt amp

  • love this amp. i got two of it. and im using the sound of rigg. i love the metal and insane tone. this is more superior compare to other brands. just plug and play the band you wanna be!!

  • metal and insane sounds like crap, but clean and crunch are fine to me

  • Line 6 Spider IV 15 Watt Mono 1x8 Combo or Roland CubeXL 15 Watt ?

  • I have this amp and it does not do my American standard strat justice. I'm going to have to invest alot more

  • You look like a pirate :D!

  • @MrDeaD39 a stoned pirate with a good razor...

  • @MrDeaD39 hhahaha lol:)

  • @MrDeaD39 ARRGHHHHHH ;)

  • How do i set it up to play it?

  • does anybody know if you can play Tenacious D- the medal with this amp?

  • @777Knightrider -.- you can play almost anything on this amp.

  • What guitar is that?

  • The guitar he is using is going to make any piece of shit sound great.

  • 15 ppl play acoustic

  • he says 'you can quite easily take the effects off'

does anyone know how? i cant lol

  • and my insane channel doesnt even get that much gain. i have to put a overdrive pedal in front of it!?!?!?!?!

  • why does my metal channel sound so dry and crunchy . it doesnt get anywhere near this guys tone?!?!?!

  • Dude, I want this amp for Christmas...

  • @brapboys503

    no you dont.

  • @saraband0 Bet me.

  • @brapboys503 haha i have it. its great. i can shake the house with it :D

  • @DescentFromHeaven I asked for it. Hopefully I get it!

  • @brapboys503 haha. its a nice amp indeed. its really loud for its size (= so im pretty happy with :D

  • i have the spider 3 15 watt. i also have a zoom g1x effects box, i can plug the effects box into the amp but... the line 6 has built in effects. Does the amp have a default tone WITHOUT any effects so the effects on the zoom are not effected by the built in ones of the amp ???

  • seriously. this is an amazing amp. but only after you tweak the settings a bit. Insane is the best channel only because you can turn the drive to anything, even zero and there you have great clean channel with no annoying echo.

I've tweaked the insane channel to an exact sound replica of a MesaBoogie Dual Rectifier on dirty channel. (Look up fearedse) thats where i was inspired.

  • this or a marshall MG15FX ?

  • @nopants18 imo, id get a marshall15fx with a good distortion pedal

  • is this amp of 15 w?

  • @memoowdelonge Yeah it's 15 wat.

  • is he talking a bout money when saying "pouds"

  • @metallica19980208 Yes British Pounds. 63 punds = about $100.

  • @metallica19980208 Lmao XD He's saying "pounds" and yeah he's talking about money

  • @metallica19980208 yeah he is

  • @metallica19980208 no he's talking about sheep

  • @metallica19980208 no he's talking about fatty parts of the body.....

  • ^@metallica19980208

    I think you mean "pounds"

  • @metallica19980208 He's British and he's saying "pounds". Pounds sterling is the currency in Britain.

  • @metallica19980208 He's saying "pounds" as in the currency they use in England. 60 pounds is roughly $99.00 in today's (2011) currency.

  • @metallica19980208 what the fuck r u saying...he s saying pounds...u know...English money!! O_O

  • the guy that knows to play good the guitar , he will sound good on every amp and with every guitar... sorry for my bad english

  • @smartass23t. It was straight out of the box with nothing added to the sound. It was the first time Michael had played through one, but he is one of those players that just has it in his hands!

  • Comment removed

  • im planing to buy this amp is it good for me that has played for 5 months

  • @sebbesWii its perfectly fine :) i have this amp and its actually pretty good for a small little thing. its worth the money :)

  • @supdude112 now i have 1 :3

  • Comment removed

  • so its not powerful for playing in a band correct ?

i dont like the crunch it sounds crap with me

  • @whysoserious1990

If you are playing in a band you might want to look into at least a 100watt amp..

It def helps with writing and jamming over drums and everything else

even cheap half stacks on craigslist or so

  • so its not powerful for playing in a band correct ?

i dont like the crunch channel

  • so its not powerful for playing in a band correct ?

  • i'm planning to buy this amp. is it a great amp?

  • He doesn't bash it, I respect him for reviewing it like any other amp, not a silly practice amp like most of the people who comment on this video. Sorry, but people, you're all idiots, every single one of you who says it sucks, it's not. It's a good amp for beginners and practicing, it's not meant to be played with at shows or anything, if you wanna do that get a Mesa, yes, Peavey Vypyrs are better, but still, this is good for what it's made for.

  • @sillysausage95 you're an idiot... he said whats better a line 6 III or Marshall15fx so LOL at you

  • 60 pounds? i bought one for 250 euros are you fucking kidding me?

  • @Movieater lol someone fucked you man, in my local shop its like 100 euro :D

  • @lunapuwn where do you live? i live in portugal

  • @lunapuwn thats not expensive ....

  • I have this amp and I HATE it. I have tweaked it sooooo much and i still hate it. If your going to buy an amp buy and fender amp. They are AMAZING.

  • @blackjediknight34 hell yeah. this amp sucks.

  • @blackjediknight34 I only like Fenders for clean. You obviously didn't tweak it that much, I set my metal to 10 4 6 for EQ and it sounds perfectly fine.

  • well worth the $60

  • thanks very much, i just bought one and this vid helped me to learn how to use it so thanks again, your a very talented guitar player

  • i have this amp, and even 1/2 volume blows my brains out. Il probably never put it on full!

  • how much is the guitar

  • where the hell are you getting this for £60? all my local music shops have them for £100 plus...and thats sale price!

  • This or a Roland (15 watt? Knowing that I've tried the Roland but didn't try this : /

  • The insane channel has too much distortion. The metal channel has a good amount of distortion but the tone is crap. I tweek the settings and it still sounds like crap. lol

  • @imadey0utube It does not. I have a good sound on the metal channel and it's not crap. Insane isn't too much distortion, it's just a lot.

  • @Songwriter4God What's your tone settings??
