Earlier on in the game, you can get a couple of special items that make the game less difficult.

One of those items is the breath neckless. It allows you to stay under water without needing air.

Or you can go around the side of everything, even hitting the spring without having to break any of the metal boxes.

Better yet, you don't even have to go there, or open up any laser walls underwater.

You can get the upgrade in Aqua Mine which allows you to infinitely breath underwater, but you still have to go through a longish tunnel of water to get it.

God I hate artificial chaos...

On topic though, the difficulty of this level suprised me. As in... not so difficult... Crazy Gadget and Final Rush are MUCH harder in my opinion, and so is Final Chase. 0_o; This level, aside from the pain-in-the-ass Knux segment, is EASY in comparison.

I hate the Knuckles level. Not only is it impossible without the air necklace (which I DO have, mind you) but the currents are SO FRICKIN' STUPID!!!!!

actually, its possible to do knuckles part without the air necklace, since there are air bubbles around the level, which allow knuckles another 5 minutes underwater, but the necklace does make it 10x easier.

well, yeah, but like you said, the air necklace makes it TONS easier.

Actually you can skip even the air bubbles, and likewise you never have to deal with flowing currents. The points available to Knuckles are minimal, and you may very well counteract most of them in time bonus anyway.

It's kind of hard to explain but I've done it plenty of times.

It involves Mystic Melody, defeating all enemies you can, and collecting as many rings as you can without losing them.
