You have a quite questionable strategy for building a city. Your housing was LAST? You blew 3,000 coin and THEN placed your housing before any gold was ever generated from the mines? Very questionable, remind me not to trust you with credit! If housing was in place first, then gold, you could have filled your coffers and never gone into debt. The last two minutes really shows what should be happening in the first two.
You should definitely try "Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom" - it's just like "Pharaoh", but set in ancient China with dynasties and all that cool stuff... "Zeus" is more different to me, IMO.
One of the best games of all time! Nostalgic!!! So inspiring with the egypt culture. Pc games rly can be beutiful. I hope they will make games like this in the future
anyway, thanks for your advice :) i'll find another way to play this game :) I really love it, I'm playing Zeus and Poseidon on win7 and it still work, but I still love Pharaoh and Cleopatra. thankyou
@1991thienthien I'm not entirely sure it's possible. I've never tried to get the game to work on Vista or Win7, though I suppose you might have a better chance if you can use XP mode. It's tricky business, even in XP.
@1991thienthien It works fine on windows 7. Im running 7 ultimate 64x, installed and executed without any issues. Works 100%. If u do have trouble just run in compatibility mode.
I love this game so much, but it doesnt stop me from the player's low skills of strategy. I hope you will increase those skill asap lol, its dangerous this way =) Again I love this game, even if computers become so great with all that technology, I would still prefer playing Pharaoh. Just can't understand why Steam doesnt sell Pharaoh?
I agree, this video was made with a rather low skill level. However, I believe I mentioned that in the description, at least indirectly. Anyway, steam probably doesn't sell pharaoh for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, they would have to rewrite it. Second, the current owners have left the series in limbo, leaving it as a rather dubious form of abandonware. (Not to mention the difficulties in getting this game to run on many computers, which make it unmarketable)
@Glitchfinder You must like it and "Zeus: Master of Olympus" as they're both from the same Impressions Games series that also feature "Pharaoh" and "Caesar".
Also, I discovered playing the other day that an employee seeker can fully staff his building if he can reach just one house, assuming you have unemployed available. That is, you can have 20 gold mines or so and if they can all reach just one house, if you had a high unemployment all of them will get employment. So you can keep the majority of your housing nice and have just one or two shitty ones.
If you're talking to the housing I put next to the gold mines, then yes, I did realize that. I also realized that, with the way I had the other housing set up, I had to do that if I wished to see any money from the gold mines.
sometimes having ramshackle housing around industries is unavoidable, especially if the map is cramped. The bad housing should be offset by more good housing to keep your prosperity rating up.
Though in this case he probably could have kept the housing a bit farther away, it got the job done, and (especially on the earlier levels) that's all that matters.
Btw....just a hint...you shoul always start with housing and then cash and then the stuff that improves housing. This ensures that things get moving as soon as possible.
You're right. It's just that I always end up giving the houses everything to start, because otherwise I end up crowding stuff out and demolishing stuff later.

In fact, technically "Emperor", "Pharaoh", "Caesar" and "Zeus" ARE the same game, but they feature different cultures, lands and resources.

@1991thienthien
How to run it on win7
1. Update your graphic card driver
2. Install direct x 9.0c
3. Change Colour Depth to 16-bit on your computer
4. Install the game, update it.
5. Play the game, do not run it in compability mode.
READ: you must change to 16-bit if you want it to run in windowed mode.

Hey, Glitchfinder, did you know that houses will not evolve, when you place them too close to the industries? The desirability is crappy there...
