As someone who works for Lloyds Banking Group I found this a very interesting interview. It provides a valuable insight into Antonio's views on UK banking. It will be interesting to see if the strategy he used at Santander is carried over to Lloyds. Will he move to a single brand? Will we see expansion overseas? Will we see a single IT platform for the group like the IBM iSeries which is far superior to other platforms ;-)
yuri, you do know this situation was inevitable, right?
with our monetary system it's obvious some people won't have the change to pay their entire balance and some day, certainly, a lot of countries also. So, this crisis just have to be managed as well as possible, but bankers need to continue their job.
António Horta Osório is one of the best bankers ever! Follow this example as close as possible, it will be worth!
Why do bankers always lay the blame on others with their new campaign of living within your means, didn't they over evaluate securities which were troublesome to begin with? I don't understand why bankers don't look at the world in a macroscopic way and make sure the consumer is only being given loans in a sustainable way, as they do have access to this information. Nobody smartens up when they have alot of money, it's going to be another decade of bubble bursting nonsense.
It's called the intern "Customer Relationship Management" ahah
An entrepreneurial banker!
