It's also very suggestive to use the word "protect", cause this word implies that the defendant won't be punished hard, but actually it just enables a fair process.

Right on Joey! People so often forget that our Constitution dictates what our government can and cannot do, how it must always act, regardless of what the UN says, and regardless of what person is the subject of the government's action.
In other words, it doesn't matter who the suspect is; our government is constrained by our Constitution to act in certain ways, including a fair, public, quick, and speedy trial. ALL CRIMINAL SUSPECTS must be treated that way, including foreign nationals.

Nice job on the video Joey, I agree completely. I suppose the widespread problem is that many people and countries do not agree with an all encompassing respect for human rights. Instead they'll often say what sounds good, but in truth only respect people who are like themselves. The United Nations has many nice sentiments, but it seems pretty ineffective. I have no idea what the solution is. I only hope our cultures and acceptance evolves faster than our weapons and technology.
I have to disagree giving him equal rights in which they did, resulted in him obtaining a lawyer he in turn shut up and said nothing this guy held lots of information if the military got to him first they would of asked lots of questions first, questions that could save lives. You cant treat terrorist as an equal, they dont think and act like normal human being and dont deserve the respect ... this guy had a bomb in his underwear
I believe that in a world in which people thought that those who think differently and act differently than "normal human beings" would be a world or chaos and hatred. As a society we must deice what is right and wrong and what punishments should be. Yet, your logic leaves me unconvinced and frankly shocked at the lack of common sense.
Hmm, he gets a lawyer after spilling his guts for THIRTY HOURS. They obtained all the information they needed or probably even could get from him. Would treating him as "a terrorist" limited the information obtained from him as was as treating him like any other criminal? Give me a break sandwich.
Thank you Joey. You warm the cockles of my old heart. And remember: where there's fear, there cannot be love. It is in the interest of the power junkies to spread fear, mistrust, confusion . The enlightened ones open their hearts, the frightened ones give up their soul and sell it to the highest bidder.
I'm glad there's a generation rising that's immune to manipulation and intelligent enough to inform themselves. Be blessed and prosper!
Dude, I'm so glad to hear a young American like you speak this way! When I heard Governor Bob McDonnell I was shocked too, but then I feared no American would see the threat in his words, perhaps. It's refreshing to see I was wrong. Greetings from South America
This video coming from you does not surprise me one bit. This reaction is the real Joey Pearson.
Actually the SOTU Address and the Republican Response scare me a quite a bit. I've come to really respect OUR Constitution in recent years. I've come to realize that politics has become a form of magic. It is an art of deception and manipulation to gain control over the people. Not that all politicians practice magic but the ones who control most of the politics do.
You said yourself, "...human rights, to all humans, must be respected, or murder, destruction, war will ultimately take over."
And where are we? Surrounded by, and immersed in, murder, destruction, and war, primarily initiated by our governmental agencies, political lobbies, and Wall Street. They seem to have missed the point about human rights and respect. In fact, human rights seem to be on the verge of disappearing altogether...
Well said Joey! I totally agree with you. The law should be the same for everybody regardless of their race, colour, sex, religion, political opinion or the type of government they are living under. As the declaration of human rights dictates.
You my friend, are definitely well informed and can speak as well as you can sing. Peace bro!
I'm just thankful that the anti terror cops with what looked like machine guns who were suspicious of myself and friends at heathrow airport for having cameras whilst waiting for American friends to fly into London didnt put bullets into our heads. The cops stopped us under terror laws that means were were suspected of being terrorists.
Just ignore the dimwit Ron person. He's been brainwashed by a party line. Notice that the best gig he's got going is to attack teenagers. Armchair warriors don't impress me.
@hbaronaz I see you have been a while untill you came back. Hope your Mommy made you nice and comfortable with a nice clean diaper. Now Ronnie, I have noticed your only reply to teenage boys and Women on this awesome video. Wazzup Ronnie, you afraid to reply to the rest of us. Do you get kicks out of abusing Joey and the women and girls who comment here. Come on Ronnie answer me, you fucking pussy. Why not make a video response instead of hidind behind text.
while everyone is most certainly entitled to their opinion, I was wondering if that bomb did explode and your mom was on that plane, would your opinion be the same?
What a bunch of numbskulls and Kool-Aid drinkers. It's no wonder the country is in trouble. Did those detractors of mine learn anything in school or are they condemned to be morons their entire lives?
@hbaronaz Waazzzup Ronnie. Whats upsetting you. Did Mommy not change your diaper this morning, have you had a tough day in Kindergarten. Did those nasty mean bullies pick on you for pissing your pants. Aww Ronnie or is it that Mommy won't buy you a happy meal from McDonalds.
Come on Ronnie talk to me, aww dee dums, Ronnies upset because he's been exposed as a fucking douchebag
wow thats all i can say for that. i had a hard time getting thought this one wow joey. u are really smart with all them big ass words wow. now i wish i understand a word you just said. lol with my learning disorder no i don't. lol but i have some friends that will help. lol but what i got out of it is you talking about that guy that tryed to bomb the airplane i thing. on christmas day. witch i think was stupid of him to do that. with him self on there... but umm ya... i love it when u....
i love when you challage me. to thinking and stuff. so i have a lot to think about with this one. lol take care and thanks for telling us how you feel on this. i love to hear you talk and sing but anyways thanks. love to learn about diffrent things. ok i'll go now. thanks for taking the time to read this long comment from dumb old me. lol
Joey: Grow up idiot. I would like to know how you would feel if you had been on that flight. Learn something about islam and muslims and what their opinions of human rights are. You will be shocked. Of course your liberal education has deceived you into believing that everyone has the same rights even those who would murder you because you believe differently from them. Shocking to me an atheist what you a fool believes.
@hbaronaz Ron, your the type of person which makes America hated and the laughing stock of the rest of the world. Thank God that not all Americans have your stupid opinion. I know plenty of muslims who share the same view that Joeys got. They are not all bad. Sure some of them have terrible opinions on human rights etc. But thats just the same as assholes lile you. Come over to England, use your camera within the ring of steal. Lets see you get arrested on suspision of being a terrorist. Cont>
@hbaronaz if we said you have NO RIGHTS under our laws then you would soon be crying Human Rights abuses. No matter what a person is accused of, they should be treated the same. The guy who allegedly tried to blow that plane up is entitled to be treated with dignaity and respect and have his Human Rights met. .
@hbaronaz and you would have us sink to the treachery and debauchery of those militants and lunatics who have no rule of law and no morals?
This young man has more integrity in his heart than you can even imagine. So who is really the fool?
Even an atheist should know that you will get back what you put out.
Would you have the police kick in your door and keep you in jail for a few years on 'suspicion' of terrorism, with no trial and no human rights? If it can happen to him, it can happen to u
Integrity. Ignorance the more likely. Ms Coakley in MA already kept an innocent family in jail to further her career. All of the protesters for human rights are unwilling to give the innocent their due. Did you ever notice the flags and t-shirts carried by the left. They love to adore the mass murderers of the world, and would be happy to do the same to the rest of us. If you are such a fighter for human rights, why are you sitting at a computer instead of being active in politics?
You know what ignorance means? simply that you don't know something. I could forgive someone for not knowing, but for trying to corrupt the beliefs of a new generation that will soon be taking over as the leaders of our country...that is unacceptable.
Crawl back into your little hole and let your hysteria eat away at the little mind you have left.
sorry but i have to say somthing to the real idiot who needs to grow up. mr. Ron you the idiot. needs to take it from his point of view now them or your own. he made a good point onces i understand what it was. after watch it 6 times. so that was un called for. and joey sorry i couldn't not say anything to what he said to you.
Yeah, he actually hasn't been convicted. There are still procedures to go through, even though his guilt appears to be evident. Otherwise, I agree with you fully. Thank you for bringing it up and discussing it. I can see that you've been bulldozed with comments from the right - who for some reason have decided in the last 8 years that decency no longer is the American way, but you are right. Our standards have held up through 200 years & if we're willing to fight for them they can do so again.
Sadly, a country which attempts to counter terrorism with due process and fair treatment will inevitably lose. You cannot combat unconditional hatred with respect and fairness because they will use that against you, this has been proven time and again.
"Civilised" society is so hamstrung by its own rules that it is incapable of effectively combatting an "uncivilised" enemy. Unfortunately, the only truly effective way to fight terrorists is to become more like them... It's very much a catch-22
A way of looking at this might be to ask why should terrorists be afforded the protection of rights which they sought to deny others?
I'm not advocating torture & I don't wish to see law-enforcement given carte blanche to do as they please with terrorists, but at the same time if we afford them the same rights & protections as any other citizen, they will simply use that as a weapon against us.
As I say, it's a catch-22, the only way to defeat them is to be like them, which isn't an option.
"You cannot combat unconditional hatred with respect and fairness". I have to disagree with that. It's the ONLY way to combat it. If you sink to their level then you've lost not only them, but you've lost yourself.
If you took the time to notice my follow-up comment, I continue to say:
"As I say, it's a catch-22, the only way to defeat them is to be like them, which isn't an option"
The problem with combatting terror is that an unconventional enemy cannot be defeated by conventional means, that is a fact, tested and proven countless times. That is what makes terrorism such a dangerous weapon, a "civilised" society cannot hope to defeat it without becoming "uncivilised", they win either way...
I fail to see your logic. Those who seem incapable of respecting the rights of others are especially important to deal with with carefully, as to bring validity to our conventional and humane ways by showing that we treat ALL people with the same rights. The US exists on the basis of equality and the concept of being "innocent before proven guilty." If we turn away from those ideals, we are in danger of becoming a corrupt nation of "kangaroo courts" and torture, void of human rights.
Joey we are at war. People have forgotten that. This man tryed to commit a terrorist act. He was catch in the act. He was allowed to enter our country , and broke the trust. How about all the American citizens he would of killed in this event? What if your Father,Mother, a friend had been on that aircraft? He was also on the terroist list reported by his own father. In this instance he deserves a fair for the crimes he committed, but any information that would save lifes should be extracted.
We're at war? Really? Which country has declared war on us? Are you aware that terrorism is a CRIME, not an act of war? Crimes should be prosecuted. Why are you against the laws of justice, Tidemover?
Are you aware that when your at war laws must change to protect the citizens? This guy tryed to perform a terroist act to kill hundreds of people. Prosecute him quickly in front of a judge and jury then get the information to safeguard our country. Why should a trial take months and years. Did he committ a crime? Did he say he did it? Please, look at the fact.
@tidemover Were you born stupid, or have you been smoking to much pot. The guy commited a criminal offence. Therefore he will be dealt with by courts of law. He was arrested and rightly so read his rights. You cannot force him to give infromation, you guys call that the 5th Admendment do you not. What he did is nothing to do with military. If he had worn a uniform of the Iraqi or Afghan Army, which he did not, Iraq & Afghan have NOT declared any war on the USA, then he would be a POW,
cont. And as soon as the war was over he would be realised. As Iraq and Afghan have not DECLARED war on the USA then there is no war. You like us are just fighting terrorism.
@paul1967uk I think your point would come across more clearly and tidemover would be more open to hearing what you have to say if you didnt insult him/her. LOL:P But right on! I agree with you
First of all. Let me make a point I was a Police Officer. I know something about how the justice system works. If you get a chance read about the Alien and Sedition acts of 1798. During war time our country has enforced stricter rules. The man was on a aircraft. Any law broken on a aircraft is a Federal offense. He also is not a US citizen, and was committing a terrorist act for our enemy. His treatment should follow UN conventions, but he needs to be questioned now, not 3 years from now.
You can use any words you want. Negative comments are meaningless. Were at war US citizens are dying everyday. If he was questioned it could save lifes. I never said he should be tortured or treated unfairly. You assumed that. There are ways to question a person to make them give information without treating them poorly. Questioning of a know terrorist caught in the act should be allowed. If you ever see someone die because of the senseless acts of another you may change your mind.

@tidemover WAR!!!!! what Country declared war on America. Your heads so far up your ass its unreal. The Guy was not a Soldier of the Afghan or Iraqi Army, Afghan nor Iraqs declared war. As for questioning him, no matter what country he is from he's got the right to Americas 5th Admendment. Or do you suggest your mates do a Rodney King on him to get the answers they want. Your ex job was to protect and serve.
I guess you really not following the war. It has nothing to do with the country its the group/people within the country. The training camps. This man was working in conjunction with Al-Qaeda. We are not discussing why were at war. Im talking about getting information that can safeguard our country , and yours.Rodney king is not part of the discussion you seem to have trouble sticking to the subject matter Also you keep saying I want violence. The truth is you talk with anger and hatred.
Your young and idealistic, but you must realize the the UN is a farce and the constitution protects you. The constitution does not protect a Canadian or a Nigerian terrorist. Radical Islamists simply hate you so matter how sweet you may be. Neither the UN nor John Lennon can change that.
Excellent video. Human rights, which include legal rights, are universal, or at least should be universal. A country cannot claim to promote freedom and democracy while torturing people suspected of crimes, and while holding people in detention for years without trial. 5/5 stars ++++ :-D
I just disagree on this one don't be hatin' Myself I think a bullet in the back of his head would have made better sense, and cost a whole heck of a lot less.
You're right...he isn't, but it would be a travesty of justice to only grant due process to those we deem worthy of it. It's the ONLY way real justice can work and it necessitates sometimes swallowing difficult circumstances. If a man ADMITTED to raping a child of mine...he still deserves due process because it's the best way to ensure that he can't wiggle out of it on appeal.
Oneiblind--why don't you believe in the laws of justice? Are you aware that terrorists do not believe in the laws of justice? If you do not, guess where that puts your ethics? Yep, squarely in their camp.
And are you wearing eyeliner? Jesus come soon.

You cant treat terrorist as an equal, they dont think and act like normal human being and dont deserve the respect ... this guy had a bomb in his underwear
xspacie 2 years ago
@xspacie thats understandable coming from you. !!!!
So you would prefer the military to torture and abuse him to extract anything they wanted to hear.
paul1967uk 2 years ago
I believe that in a world in which people thought that those who think differently and act differently than "normal human beings" would be a world or chaos and hatred. As a society we must deice what is right and wrong and what punishments should be. Yet, your logic leaves me unconvinced and frankly shocked at the lack of common sense.
JoeyAPearson 2 years ago

Hiya Joey,
This video coming from you does not surprise me one bit.

In fact, human rights seem to be on the verge of disappearing altogether...
anmoose 2 years ago
Well said Joey! I totally agree with you. The law should be the same for everybody regardless of their race, colour, sex, religion, political opinion or the type of government they are living under. As the declaration of human rights dictates.
You my friend, are definitely well informed and can speak as well as you can sing. Peace bro!

Joey, you're right. The justice system works. It's a pity so few understand that without justice, we all live in a lawless society.
No, the guy hasn't been convicted yet. But he will be, I'm certain.
I don't know why the GOP fear justice and hate the Constitution so much, but it appears they do.

Even an atheist should know that you will get back what you put out.
Would you have the police kick in your door and keep you in jail for a few years on 'suspicion' of terrorism, with no trial and no human rights? If it can happen to him, it can happen to u
obamamaniacs 2 years ago
If you are such a fighter for human rights, why are you sitting at a computer instead of being active in politics?
hbaronaz 2 years ago
You know what ignorance means? simply that you don't know something. I could forgive someone for not knowing, but for trying to corrupt the beliefs of a new generation that will soon be taking over as the leaders of our country...that is unacceptable.

It's very much a catch-22
sk8rfish 2 years ago
A way of looking at this might be to ask why should terrorists be afforded the protection of rights which they sought to deny others?
I'm not advocating torture & I don't wish to see law-enforcement given carte blanche to do as they please with terrorists, but at the same time if we afford them the same rights & protections as any other citizen, they will simply use that as a weapon against us.
As I say, it's a catch-22, the only way to defeat them is to be like them, which isn't an option.
sk8rfish 2 years ago 2
"You cannot combat unconditional hatred with respect and fairness". I have to disagree with that. It's the ONLY way to combat it. If you sink to their level then you've lost not only them, but you've lost yourself.
obamamaniacs 2 years ago
If you took the time to notice my follow-up comment, I continue to say:
"As I say, it's a catch-22, the only way to defeat them is to be like them, which isn't an option"
The problem with combatting terror is that an unconventional enemy cannot be defeated by conventional means, that is a fact, tested and proven countless times. That is what makes terrorism such a dangerous weapon, a "civilised" society cannot hope to defeat it without becoming "uncivilised", they win either way...
sk8rfish 2 years ago
I fail to see your logic. Those who seem incapable of respecting the rights of others are especially important to deal with with carefully, as to bring validity to our conventional and humane ways by showing that we treat ALL people with the same rights. The US exists on the basis of equality and the concept of being "innocent before proven guilty." If we turn away from those ideals, we are in danger of becoming a corrupt nation of "kangaroo courts" and torture, void of human rights.
JoeyAPearson 2 years ago

urbanwarrior 2 years ago
Joey we are at war. People have forgotten that. This man tryed to commit a terrorist act. He was catch in the act. He was allowed to enter our country , and broke the trust. How about all the American citizens he would of killed in this event? What if your Father,Mother, a friend had been on that aircraft? He was also on the terroist list reported by his own father. In this instance he deserves a fair for the crimes he committed, but any information that would save lifes should be extracted.
tidemover 2 years ago
@tidemover and how do you suggest that information should be extracted
paul1967uk 2 years ago 2
We're at war? Really? Which country has declared war on us? Are you aware that terrorism is a CRIME, not an act of war? Crimes should be prosecuted. Why are you against the laws of justice, Tidemover?
Starshadow 2 years ago
Are you aware that when your at war laws must change to protect the citizens? This guy tryed to perform a terroist act to kill hundreds of people. Prosecute him quickly in front of a judge and jury then get the information to safeguard our country. Why should a trial take months and years. Did he committ a crime? Did he say he did it? Please, look at the fact.
tidemover 2 years ago 4
@tidemover Were you born stupid, or have you been smoking to much pot. The guy commited a criminal offence. Therefore he will be dealt with by courts of law. He was arrested and rightly so read his rights. You cannot force him to give infromation, you guys call that the 5th Admendment do you not. What he did is nothing to do with military. If he had worn a uniform of the Iraqi or Afghan Army, which he did not, Iraq & Afghan have NOT declared any war on the USA, then he would be a POW,
paul1967uk 2 years ago
cont. And as soon as the war was over he would be realised. As Iraq and Afghan have not DECLARED war on the USA then there is no war. You like us are just fighting terrorism.
paul1967uk 2 years ago
@paul1967uk I think your point would come across more clearly and tidemover would be more open to hearing what you have to say if you didnt insult him/her. LOL:P But right on! I agree with you
JoeyAPearson 2 years ago
First of all. Let me make a point I was a Police Officer. I know something about how the justice system works. If you get a chance read about the Alien and Sedition acts of 1798. During war time our country has enforced stricter rules. The man was on a aircraft. Any law broken on a aircraft is a Federal offense. He also is not a US citizen, and was committing a terrorist act for our enemy. His treatment should follow UN conventions, but he needs to be questioned now, not 3 years from now.
tidemover 2 years ago 5
You can use any words you want. Negative comments are meaningless. Were at war US citizens are dying everyday. If he was questioned it could save lifes. I never said he should be tortured or treated unfairly. You assumed that. There are ways to question a person to make them give information without treating them poorly. Questioning of a know terrorist caught in the act should be allowed. If you ever see someone die because of the senseless acts of another you may change your mind.
