This is what the Great American Songbook is all about. A great classic voice losing herself in a great classic song. God bless you, Rosemary, Harry, Mack, and Dorothy!
This lady can really BELT a song. I feel sorry for those that don't enjoy this wonderful singer. She can sing like she did 60 rears ago. Thank you for posting this beautiful song.
I miss my ex so much. He was the love of my life, and when he went away he took my heart with him. I wish him all happiness and that someday he will return
I was a 17 year old serving in England in the US Air Force when this was first released. The year was 1951 and the song helped get me through that first of three long years away from home. Harry James trumpet was as majestic as Rosie Clooney's incredible voice.
Wonderful posting. Back in those long-ago days, singers did not have the help of technology, mixing, etc. This woman could sing! There no off-tune notes that had to be corrected. My mother and grandmother brought me up on music of the 40s and 50s, and I thank them for sharing what they loved.... Music and singers changed. There has been some awesome music, since these long-ago recordings, but I hope that these videos here will be watched and enjoyed now. Bravo to Rosemary. Stellar....
@eatsleep3D she is really his aunt. she's almost the reason he became famous. she's also miguel ferrer's mother. her biography "girl singer" is amazing, i've read it four times. i definitely recommend it.
Yes, and sometimes, tho its rare, for the better. Do you think you're immune? Look in the mirror, it's creeping in, is it not? Death be your only cure_REMEMBER DEATH!
Chill out. I'm not slamming her. This is all the music I listen to. It's only performers of the past that I admire. Frank Sinatra is my idol. But you can't look at the video of him when he's old and performing with no voice without thinking it's bitter sweet. Sweet because he was an icon but so, so bitter because time even eats away at the legends.
It really is tragic isn't it? You tell yourself it's Frank and he's the man so it's all just GREAT. But it really isn't. He stammered through in a low voice that made hitting high notes easier and he was all over the place. His Duets album is actually very good, and he really is in good voice at that age, but even then you're listening to the best singer of all time suddenly outshine by EVERY other singer. It's almost bizarre in that way.
Can we go back in time and collect up the dignity and integrity of the majority of her generation and put it into the global water supply or something today?
God I miss truly regal people! Celebrities today are more likely to have arrest records than gold records :(
I also discovered her later in life, even though her songs were popular when I was a child-I did not appreciate her then. What a talent, and a really great person!
I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Clooney after a Christmas Concert she gave in Ocean City, MD in 1989. Though she had a horrible cold, you never knew it from her performance (she sounded wonderful!) And you wouldn't know it from her behavior backstage. She was gracious and charming and delightful. Rosemary, we miss you!
Rosie, "You'll never know how much I miss you". I discovered you late in life, but the enjoyment your music has given me is beyond mention. I must thank Michael Feinstein because the first video I saw was from his club. Your memory will live forever.

I'd love to hear Lady Gaga or Beyonce give this tune a try.....full blown 1940's orchestration behind them....that would be something to hear.

Kids, see, there was a time when you had to actually have talent to become famous.

Is she really George Clooney's aunt? George has a very good voice though not a singer (that I know)
Anyway, what a singer she was. I had to look her up after a hearing her duet with Frank Sinatra in Some Enchanted Evening.
I was born too late. Thanks for sharing.

@redstatesrule Ok I understand where you are coming from. Sinatra is also my idol. and it is slightly depressing seeing him in his last years perform
