I learned something today! This video was fun. The part I learned was how in architecture they get that roof to be angled exactly the same as the other roof. That's so cool.
Actually there is an easyer way to do this. Simply by selecting the corner of the roof and draging it parallel to the axis/roof and typing in the distance. This way you lose the need for the guide, the two lines and you don't have to erase anything. Or for a 10 sec job you can simply make a box at the height of the roof, draw a line from a lower corner to the middle of the upper edge and then complete the roof with the follow me tool. I just wounder how aidanchopra didn't think about this.
@latvietis1234 : You should show us with a video and we'll all learn how to simplify the steps getting the same results in less time!.Thanks.(I wonder if aidanchopra is thinking the same!).
As a matter of fact I was actually going to make a video, once I have some free time, to show the neat tehniques I know to model a house as a response to the clumsy modeling you can see here on youtobe:) Check my channel to see some of my vids now!
thank you sooo much! I had no idea how to do my homework on roofs (our proff did not give us anything! Just a drafting problem!), until I saw this and started making the roof on sketchup, and now I'm done! :D

Yes, hip. As in hip roof. To quote Aidan from his book Google SketchUp for Dummies; "A hip roof is one where the sides and ends all slope together".
