It is secured Eva Duarte was raised in extreme poverty and social paria status as an illegitimate child. Who's gonna preach to someone like that when they are hungry for fame? Madonna was, too, although from a middle class background. Hunger for wealth and fame may not be pretty but seems to be human.

In the original play, the lyrics read "no money, no class" which is more logic than "no money, no cash" since it's the same thing! Anyway, Alan Parker thought that Eva even younger had a lot of class anyway. Lyricist Tim Rice seemed angry with this decision in an interview he gave in MadonnaTribe.
