Ah, Gobots. Remember this show when I was a kid. But in fairness, these guy's toys are much more accurate as to what they really look like in the show compared to Transformer toys where there are some like Ratchet and Ironhide whose toy version had a sticker head at the seat behind their windshields that most collectors complain about.

Anyone else get a kick out of the "You can pretend" bit they put into some of these old commercials? What else did they think we were going to do with them? I actually "pretended" some of the cooler Go-Bots became Transformers later on.

The only Menasor parts you had to add were the feet, hands and weapons. you could leave them out but that would leave you with an unstable and odd look9ing robot

Not if you lost a few of those little plastic connector pieces that weren't actually part of any of the individual robots but were necessary for the combined form to fit together. Gobots combiners were completely self-contained with all the parts being integrated into the figures themselves instead of using the kinds of cheats Transformers used at the time.

Not really. Gobots came out before Transformers but, unfortunately, Gobots didn't do as well as the Transformers did.

I'd always thought they had done fairly well, though. I know I could sometimes afford a GoBot with my paper route money; while Transformers were a little high end for my resources as a 7 year old.

I like Super Go Bots. The commercials should have said something like "Super GoBots! Now you can pretend your GoBots might not get their spoilers handed to them by your Transformers. Whine now until your parents buy them all!"

The regular Gobots were, on the whole, quite a bit better than the Transformers of similar size and price. I mean, Leader-1 might be lame next to Optimus Prime or Jetfire, but he'd kick Bumblebee's ass, and you can't seriously tell me that Cosmos was a better figure than Pathfinder.

Oh lordy, Pathfinder kicks Cosmos's tail up and down the street. I'm not hatin' on Go Bots (I'm really quite fond of most of them... except Dozer). Fitor is the awesomest anything, anyhere, by the way.
