they should make this into more of a FPS, 3 shots from a phaser should be able to kill anyone ur phaser shots should be more free flying, and you got to learn to dive and roll behind objects to save yourself

shields should take at most about 6 shots to break down and non phaser based attacks like hitting them with ur gun should ignore shields and do about 10 hits to down someone

1. You spell 'witch' = 'Which'. A witch is a sterotypically green humanoid with a long nose, a big spot on the nose and has magical powers.

3. WoW can trash STO but that dosen't mean I don't like STO, it looks nice.

Here are the reasons:

1. WoW has thousands of spells from conjuring food to casting something that would come from Hell Itself, something to heal to something that does an instant over critical hit and kill.

2. WoW has far much detailed and better graphics and animations to it, it allows for more realism to the game and computer adaptability

3. WoW has thousands-millions of user-added content like addons

4. WoW is far much more popular and is a better deal for the game. I find it hard to believe that soemthing as undeveloped as STO can be charging the same as WoW (Or close). You know I actually agree with you, WoW has the same principle all along through the whole game, leveling, quests, friends, PvP, events and dungeons. That's pretty much it. It also takes a century till you can get your first mount with enables much, much faster transport but still you have to run a marathon every time you play.

everything on wow's pretty much changed..

you get your first mount at 20 second at 40 and flyer at 60..

the leveling process has been like increased ten fold to allow a higher number of end game players.

but yeah basically no more running leveling 1-70 is alot shorter then the last 10 levels are easy and fun.

everythings been boosted its a tad more noob friendly now of a game.

5. WoW has much more complex combat methods, systems, mechanisms and tactics. For example, if you were to 'raid' a dungeon, Umm.. let's say the Deadmines (second human starter area), You would need a priest/warlock/mage at the back, helping out the Warrior/DK/Pally/Shaman/Druid at the front. The gear itself and all the items in the game have been extremely carefully calculated to make sure it is fair.

6. I like Star Trek too, in fact i'm also a big fan of it but this game shows an 16bit embarrisment.

Unlike your age, judging upon the fact that you can't spell 'Which', I am more into science fiction than you are. I watch 5 different sci-fi channels/series, I play 8 different sci-fi based strategy, role-play, PvP, Adventure and MMORPG.

I also research General Relativity, String Theory, Super String Theory, the M-Theory, Time Travel Theory and many others.

Video game designers always fail to see that the characters make Star Trek special, not the starships and their weapons.  Most of us trekkers would love an super in-depth role-playing game where we deal with alien governments, build strong relationships with our crew, quell a citizen uprising on another planet using diplomatic strategy, etc. And then kick some serious butt! To me, It just seems un-Star Trek like for the game to focus so much on fighting and violence.

I just finished the open beta and i have to say this game is so much fun and terribly addictive. It may look watered down, but believe me its crazy fun. Give it time to really take flight( no pun). I actually like the ground fighting better then the space fights, they should have made the spcae combat more like bridge commander, but its still solid.

You gotta remember this is all based on beta stuff. Beta is never even close to perfect. Graphics might be toned down, certain features might be disabled etc.

I think that someone even made a Star trek online is awsome. Can't wait to see the phasers flying.

Give the game time to grow and develop. Look at world of warcraft, its old and still is shit. Some games just need the time.

There doesnt seem to be a cover system and the enemy just runs right at or by you. The phasers also seem to last forever, not much excitment here im afraid. Also why does it take forever to kill someone, I wish it was a bit more like gears of war or mass effect. Still looks to be an interesting game though.

Wow it's a re-skin of champions online, which sucked horribly. They should have developed a cover system for combat, they're always ducking behind rocks and trees in the tv shows. All this running up to the enemy and point blanking them in the face with your phaser while they do the same to you in retarded.

Recently Cryptic have stated they did a big overhaul of the ground combat mechanics but i don't know whether or not they've implemented it in the Beta for testing and thus its been recorded here.

Best course of action for anyone who doesn't like the look of it here is try it in the open beta if you get in.

Personally i think it looks pretty good, hell i think the whole game is shaping up to be awesome.

It just really bothers me how no one has to take cover at all, if you are hit by a phaser big deal. It shouldn't be like that, it should be slower paced shots from behind cover. It reminds me of Unreal Tournament as it is. This is one of my only gripes about the game.

it seems like the scale is way off. That bridge looked like a cavern, and the giant room with the shuttle in it was just weirdly massive. The people on the hospital beds looked like midgets and the ceilings all looked like they were set twenty or thirty feet up.

I read somewhere that It is common practice in MMOs for everything to be larger than life, just to accommodate extra people running through a door or up stairs. Imagine 50 people trying to run up through a modern staircase. I know it looks weird but thats how things are made..

Ceilings have to be high in MMOs to accomodate every camera angle. Trust me you'd rather have it look weird than have camera trouble in an MMO. Also, it was a shuttle bay, in this case it totally makes sense. Not every shuttle is the size of a runabout.
