I knew a guy growing OG Kush out in LA back in the 90s. Who the hell is Steve Tuck? Overgrow was an amazing website and a lot of it has been moved to ICmag.com, but this dude is a kook. It doesnt stand for Ocean Grown kush. Tahoe OG came out first. From a few people that I have talked to that have been around it since the 90's have told me it stands for Original Gangster Kush because certain rappers loved it. I dont know the truth behind it, but B-Real will attest to its presence before overgrow

I have heard from multiple sources including a now buddy Matt out in colorado who have all said the same thing about Snoop and B-Real constantly wanting the 'Kush' in the early 90's. The gangster moniker was then added. They started bringing people out to grow it properly. This is what I have been able to gather in my years of trying to find the source.

@rastapasta64 Most reports of the origins OG stem from Florida. I was once told by the owner of a dispensary in colorado about his claims to starting the og kush and bubba. He doesnt know the lineage, but he claims it stems from the king line in canada. Steve Tuck knows his Ghost OG came from Florida as well. My buddy said when he sent the bud out here in 94 he was paid to come out here and grow it for some rappers. They gave it the moniker "OG". It was originally called "kush"

He is the same guy that did the Kurple Fantasy in Colorado. Now Original Gangster, Ocean Grown, and Organically Grown are all speculative. Ah man, I miss Overgrow so much. Those truly were the days. I'm surprised by the hype around Kush now a days because I remember Kush being rated as an average high and growers were reluctant to grow them because of the high probability of mold issues.
