@SunBlockCanada Jack Layton recieved a Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation subsidy of $ 325 for 3 years from 1988 to 1991 . Just before he found out the story was going to break in the Star he paid back just 3 months or $ 975 of the over $ 10, 000 he got from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation . Layton moved out of the town house just 2 weeks after being found out . This is a matter of record so hanksnow was right .
Well said SunBlockCanada, I wasn't paying much attention to hanksnow. Clearly he speaks of something that he heard via gossip. I too live in a subsidized building in the downtown core. Like jack I pay FULL MARKET VALUE!!!!! People have to start learning how to research and not take what others say to be accurate. As my father taught me, "believe nothing you hear and only half what you see" I listen to what people have to say, then do my own research.

@imN0Ttheone Well done. This is the way it should have been posted. Rather than an attacking tirade. Seems Jack was human after all. I think we all have skeleton's in our closets from years ago that we wish, would not have happened. Don't get me wrong. I'm not even an NDP supporter. However I appreciate the positive and good message that Jack at least tried to live by. Seems most of his career is blemish free. More than we can say for most politicians. Look at Ford, need I say more!
@imN0Ttheone you have your dates screwed up as a matter of record,,, by the way prove mr layton
knew a story was giong to break ( 4 months before it was even written !!!!!! ) ,,just an unbelievable rumour
based on zero evidence to attack mr layton. yuo forgot to mention the sun tabloid tried the story first and it was
laughed at by toronto. then the star tried it. a toronto mayor named a layton rival as handing the story to the star. the rival never laid a defamation suit over the claim
@imN0Ttheone by the way tenants do not get individual 'subsidies'. the co op itself was partially funded and it handled the interaction with government,,,,they were paying 800 bucks a month for their apartment,, that was almost TWENTY FIVE YEARS AGO when they started living there, long before they started making a half decent income at which time they decided to stay to offset costs for the co op since it was common practice,,ur story is moer propaganda than scandal and u know it :)
@imN0Ttheone haha the more i read of that the sadder it looks. paid back? ,,,,,,,,,there was nothing to pay back because he owed nothing. he wuold have been charged if he was caught defrauding,,,but he wasnt,,,he just increased his payment when his income went up,,,,duh,,,,simple..nothing to the story,,,,thats why it went no where :) im so done with this silly non topic !!!!
Jack was a big phony who never met a tax he didn't like . Jack should be rememberered for living in a subsidized town house while having an income of $ 120,000 . Jack enjoyed getting hand jobs from under aged asian girls @ rub and tugs and was a total hypocrite
