My Mom used to watch that show. In addition to playing that character he also used to read that great intro: "Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives".
I never saw the show itself, but the intro is a TV classic. I think it can be found on YouTube, as well as a very poor copy of his 1970 PBS voiceover.
