The ride quality was superior compared to the normal open window cars used at the time. I never rode it at speed. I got on at Englewood and off at Brainerd. The stations were close together at that time.
I wonder, if GM had only bought a licence from the Talgo people in Spain and built the carriages along the Talgo model, would it have worked better? Might we still be using something like it today?
You know, I was actually wondering the same thing! I would be inclined to think so but then again you must remember that Talgo did not develop their tilting mechanism until 1980. Today however since technology has caught up with the Aerotrain's vision, I would say that GM's general idea to bring people back to the railroad would be quite successful today.
This look alot like the Viewliner that was at Disneyland in the early years of its beginning, it was also built by general motors. there is footage of Walt running one of these at the park, sadly they took them out and what was the station for the viewliner is now FInding Nemo submarine.
it's called "All Aboard!" It was produced locally in Green Bay in 1994, but I'm not sure where or if you could get it (perhaps at the National Railroad Museum gift shop?)

Looks so much like 1950s car design. Great to see that a unit was preserved...
