It is clear that what Ceausescu says in this speech is TRUE, and we can see it now: it happened and it is still happening. He and his wife have been meanly betrayed and brutally assassinated.
Can we actually see the protestors? Can anyone familiar with the speech and history give me a time when when there is an area with them? Also what points are the crowd chanting Timisoara? Sorry just my california dialect having trouble, great video though.
Romania was not dependent on the FMI FED.. or other maneuvers globalist! Was in debt to zero! Occult forces have always wanted to enslave this country!
We ,Romanians have never attacked anyone for no reason! I have not stolen anybody resources that other states! We are peaceful! FUCK USA, Russia, Israel, Hungary, Germany, and other petty nationalities! WE never had need you!
This is the only reason why I love dictators. Only in true dictatorships can the roar of the people change history.
Try to do this in Britain. Even if a majority were to live in tents and cardboard boxes, they would still be enthralled by the latest crime busting reality soap on thr telly and vote for the politician who can provide the most 'law and order'.
This romanian guy might have been and asshole, but at least he was a terminal asshole.
@TheSwedishCommunist You believe a system which repressed and ignored its populace for half a century is more receptive to the wants of its people than a system which allows its people to elect who leads them every five years or so? If any opinion needs proving it's yours!
The proof is this video and the following execution, having not mentioned the several other uprisings (including Tiananmen) during that same year.
In parliamentary democracies oppessive violence is considered entertainment. WOW! Cops vs. Derange Drug Addict. TASER GUN!!!! Cop wins!!!!! *munch munch*
@TheSwedishCommunist So uprisings by people wanting to sweep aside autocracy and install democracy are indicative of the superiority of dictators? Also, Tiananmen failed to achieve its objectives whilst I fail to remember talking to a single person who found the UK riots entertaining. Troll.
London Riots? That is exactly the pervesiveness of Democracy. If the Populace (at least the ones with other priorities than the latest reality show on the telly) show some discontent, make them appear as the worst scum of humanity. So the vast majority can approve of more policing, and then get back to their reality shows on the telly.
...and if some one speaks out some inconvenient opinions that not approves 100% of the parliamentary system the mechanical response: TROLL!!!!!!!
@TheSwedishCommunist Yes, other priorities like nicking a flat screen tele are such a laudable priority aren't they. Meanwhile, people across the Arab world are rioting for democracy which obviously means that dictatorships are the best government. I would advise opening the curtains & going out into the sunlight but, being a troll, I imagine you'd turn to stone ;)

What a disgusting hypocrite was Ceausescu, this poetry from "Awake Romanians" (Desteapta-te romane) and national chant was banned during his time, because they considered it a threat to their regime, it is today the national anthem of Romania. It always was the de facot anthem of Romanians from1848 during the revolution and all other periods, it has verses against Russian occupation also in it.

@chuckyfan10 Wow, you translate hating the US into liking Chavez? Seriously, and you have the audacity to call others dumb ass? What about Hitler? He was no Uncle Sam fan either, any feelings for him too? Dumbass!
Im a little confused...Every book or article I have read about this speech always mentions how the crowd suddenly turned their back on him. The footage from the start (which is always the footage that is shown in historical tv documentaries), shows a chaotic scene, the impression I get is that its a sniper, not a mass crowd. Of course it is edited, the crowd scenes are the exact same scenes every time. Can anyone shed a little light on this for me? 1989 is the most fascinating year to study.
Funny how some people call Ceausescu a brutal tyrant and that the revolution was the exclusive result of an enraged nation... sometime in 2003, there was a TV show on CNN titled Iraq, War & Religion where three guests were featured and one of them used to work for CIA. At some point during the show, that guy spewed it out as clear as daylight: 'the CIA experiment in Romania in 1989' and he made comparison to using any decent approach to bring freedom and democracy to the enslaved nation of Iraq.
Brilliant, the people in the front, all comunist members,in the back (we the people) he had no idea that his days were over, they were shouting ( down with the dictator).
People like him should have died at the same time as Stalin. Its almost laughable to see such a ridiculous spectacle of megalomania from a European leader in the late 80s
I guess he went to bed calm and slept like a baby while finishing this speech, Giving a raise to people's salaries, babies with better education and promises for better standards of living hehehe. sounds familiar?
@bbphnix you should read and understand what he was saying in this speech. once that understood you will understand my comment, about the better living is what all politicians promise arent they?
@shermer75 for most part of the speech, the crowd shouts "Ceausescu PSR"(= Partidul Socialist Roman = Romanian Socialist Party); I cannot distinguish the words in the end, sorry
@shermer75 Frist they shout "Ceausescu P.C.R. [P.C.R. = Romanian Communist Party] and after they shout "V-om sta si v-om lupta, tara o v-om apara" wich means =We wil stay and fight,we will defend our country. [they are refer about the Soviet services who started this revolution ]
@slimv29 That's highly debatable...He was a brutal dictator. I visited that country in the 80's and at that time it was way better than in more recent years and it was still miserable. I remember seeing women in their 60's carrying concrete and stones to build sidewalks...Romania was then a beautiful country but felt like one huge concentration camp with flowers at the entrance...
