@destroyerofsenses and your a faggot for puting marijuana in a list of drugs... marijuana isnt bad for your mind and its not a drug its food for the body, mind, and soul.. medicine as well.. next time say youd rather shoot heroin.
@x4aperfecttool Definition of a drug, 'A substance, sometimes addictive, that affects the central nervous system'. Cannabis slows down the nervous system and makes your heart beat slower, (what it does to your body when you are stoned). I am pretty sure that this fits the definition of a drug. And don't say, 'It's not a drug it's a medicine' because medicines ARE DRUGS!!! If they are taken without prescription from a doctor they are harmful, so you have just admitted that weed is harmful.
@12345ISIS12345 so if you take ibuprofen or vitamin c without a prescription, its somehow bad for me now? doctors can prescribe meth if they think you have a serious enough case of ADHD (which is bullshit, in itself), but do you think that makes meth healthy? Pharmaceutical Companies don't care about you using harmful substances, they just care whether you're using their's or not.
@DemortusOcarina I don't know about ibuprofen, but Vitamin C isn't a drug, it is a vitamin, it can be used as medicine to make someone healthier but if you take pain killers (for example) without prescription you can become addicted, drugs affect your nervous system. And Meth isn't prescribed for ADHD, barbituates are so become more informed next time, any substance can be harmful or useful - just as long as it is used responably.
@12345ISIS12345 I'm not tryin to fight with ya dude, but if you've ever heard of Desoxyn then you should know meth can be given to kids in extreme circumstances like "exogenous" obesity and ADHD. Barbituates aren't even used anymore since benzos are a lot safer, but I do agree that any substance can be harmful. You can even overdose on vitamin c, so moderation is the key to everything. The thing with cannabis is that no one has EVER overdosed on it, so it's really up to the individual.
@DemortusOcarina I know you can't overdose on Cannabis, but it has other harms, it ca unlock schizophrenia, it causes paranoir and anxiety attacks, I personally think it should be legal, so that people don't get sucked into an underworld of drugs by their dealers if they take a drug that isn't that harmful anyway, but that doesn't mean it isn't dangerous, I would advise people not to use it, but the fact is some do, so it should be legal.
@12345ISIS12345 I completely agree especially with the side effects, though that has to do with the mentality of the individual. And as crazy as it sounds, I'd recommend you at least watch Terence Mckenna's video on Schizophrenia called "Schizophrenic or Shamanic", with an open mind, because he has some wonderful insights on why this culture is so terrified of madness. My mother was bipolar and when she had her episodes, she came out of them with a sense that she had learned something...
@DemortusOcarina Okay, well I think that it does depend on the individual, but it doesn't mean that we should provide those individuals with harmful substances just because others can handle it, and in terms of paranoier, I think it happens to anyone. I desagree that ill health is a key to learning about 'the other side', but I don't want to get into too much detail because it might end up sounding like I'm saying shit about your mum or anything. I will watch that video though, with an open mind
@12345ISIS12345 I agree but it also shouldn't be demonized. In my opinion, the reason it becomes ill health over time is that the society we've grown up in is incompatible with those kinds of experiences and just dismisses it all as delusions and chemical imbalances. While a lot of disorders are chemically induced, all thoughts and emotions are in a sense and there is always an underlying reason for all chemical interactions.
@12345ISIS12345 Just like the Double-Slit Experiment proved, the observer has just as much to do with the outcome of the experiment as the actual experiment, so I believe this holds true for our own biological structure. If a person with a certain genetic makeup is exposed to certain environments, then they'll react accordingly. Whether that means for good or bad is up to the situation but this world has limited the environments that we can experience to the ones culturally accepted.
@12345ISIS12345 The Shamanism of the New World is slowly creeping into the collective mind but not without a lot of tension from past models not ready to give up their dominion over this world. But just as the tides slowly sweep away the shoreline, so too will the greed and the callousness of man be purged from these lands by the subtle zen of love.
@DemortusOcarina I wouldn't say mental health is demonized, and I respect that you have that belief, but my personal opinion is that Mental health problems are just, well, mental health problems, you seem quite well informed though so I won't completely dismiss your ideas. I don't believe that the double slit experiment was true though, I have no doubt that they found those results but I just think that somewhere along the line, physics is missing something vital that could...
@DemortusOcarina ...explain that with a little more logic, (other than it is in two places at once and only stays in one place if you observe it in any way). (I hope we're talking about the same thing here, cos if we aren't I probably sound kinda stupid lol,) Anyway, the fact that the neutrinos found have undermined the theory of relativity (the key that practically all physics was based on) I wouldn't consider my idea unlikely.
@destroyerofsenses TV isn't that bad, there is plenty of education on TV. It can be fed to you more quickly and efficiently then in books and you can hear the words from the scientists themselves. For example watch, 'BBC Horizon - Is Alcohol worse than Ecstasy?' The title says it all. It is contreversal and they ended up rating alcohol the 5th most dangerous drug in the world and Ecstasy was a class C drug. If TV was propoganda then that documentry would NEVER have been broadcasted.
On the topic of that debate about marijuana: Abuse anything and there will be certain consequences. This is true of most everything in life. I really don't think there's a better solution than that.
What does a highschool kid know about the world anywaysm and who cares if snoking pot leads to ....Um, I forget..... It's not like anyone is trying to make YOU smoke it.
@BustedZen Sorry but he's right. I used to smoke a lot of marijuana and I definitely received some really bad psychological side effects. Not saying it happens to everyone because I know some guys who smoke it and are fine. But it certainly can be dangerous depending on your personality.
@alexmonro83 I don't think I ever said that cannabis can't have bad effects. I have a friend who used to smoke it but stops because it makes him feel awful.
@DiscoRByrno I said there's no conclusive evidence of some of the side effects you listed. It's not surprising that a documentary shown in a highschool said those things; they don't exactly want people smoking cannabis because it's a drug and as we all know "drugs r bad mkay". I've also read articles and seen videos and information that largely disagrees with the information you've provided. But of course YOU must be right because you seen a documentary. Far be it from me to disagree with that.
I've honestly listened to this tune like 15 times in a row. I'm not sure what it is, its just fantastic, utterly thought provoking music. I'm just annoyed I'm only recently finding out about this band. ISIS, thank you for this.
@DiscoRByrno It's not completely safe but there are negative side effects to a lot of things if they're done too often. All these side effects your listing aren't conclusive. There is no evidence that there is a strong correlation between most of the things your listed and smoking pot. You're just spouting your biased opinion. It's clear I can't convince you of anything different . I'm just trying to get across the point that what you're saying isn't concrete, irrefutable fact.
@DiscoRByrno Pot causing more harm than good is really a slanted statement; in your opinion it's clearly true. The scientific community is divided about the side effects and hazards about marijuana, especially the gateway drug theory. Marijuana is not physically addictive, but you can get addicted to it if you have an addictive personality. All in all it's probably the safest drug in existence. You can smoke your whole life without any repercussions other than a high food expense.
@BustedZen I disagree with that, I think it is a lot less dangerous then alcohol & tobacco and a spliff or two in your whole life won't do harm but you don't get, 'addictive personalities'. That is stupid. Most heavy cannabis users get paranoier/anxiety attacks and lighter smokers will eventually get them. People crave it once/if they've given up for life and if it strengthens the chance of schizophrenia. And the bad thing is people don't even realise the side effects before it is too late.
your friend is a dumb bitch who lies for sympathy. the side of affects he described to you are completely false except for merked eyes part. weight loss ROFL.
@stinkfist93420 I'm quite the casual smoker myself, I'm afraid he is correct in some ways. Marijuana has mixed effects both good and bad. Of course inhaling anything like that into your lungs is gonna be bad for you, but it's also a lot safer than Alcohol, or cigarettes (Within reason). But it does also effect the brain in the long term, dependent on how much you smoke it.
everything about your statement was false and misleading. mj does nothing but good, if you let it.=) no troll, just wanted to say it before some else did.
@DiscoRByrno Well to be honest with you, All I can say is that marijuana can't give you lung cancer unless its not filtered proberly. & I don't really know about the filtering process. but Its safer to smoke it through bongs ,then joints & Pipes cuz not only that it filters it that way, but You can get a better high off of it. but I'm not hear to tell you to try it, thats up too you, You are your own person. I'm just saying stuff about the subject.
@DiscoRByrno I hear what you sayin'. I really don't see the reason of doing any other drugs. I just smoke weed too calm down the nerves. Everything thing else is dangerous, but a majority of the stuff that people hear about pot damaging your health is false. but it can lead too sitifects though. lol Sorry for my horrible spelling.
@LandOfMutants As I said, their legacy can be deemed almost flawless. I never said that I didn't think WR was brilliant. I'm saying that I'm glad that they didn't go on to release mediocre albums, like so many bands do (Hello Rolling Stones!). Calling it quits at the height of your powers is the best thing a band can do.
just discovered this band today. they sound like a more metal version of alexisonfire, imo. No offense intended to any fans. I think Isis is better imo.
@MrWeglwegl im a huge AOF fan and i find it hard to compare the two bands honestly.. AOF has George screaming, then Dallas doing softer singing and Wade doing the "punk" sound, not that easy of a comparison
@thisisdrugs you're right. I was drawing similarities between this and AOF's "Rough Hands". After much more listening of Isis, I retract my previous statement. I am seriously digging this band now though.
@SamuelHellDay Still, you've got to admire them for that. Simply deciding to call it quits while they're ahead, instead of trudging on with mediocre releases. They've left a legacy that could very well be deemed flawless, and for that, they are legends.
i saw them live last year, and i have to say their music performed on the stage is 10000 times more powerful and profound... i'm longing to see them again, this is what you call real talent and true Art.
I'm way more awesome than the rest of you. Let's look at the proof for this statement:
I have a Ghost Key sweatshirt (it says "A fire burns with failing light against the growing darkness" on it). Said sweatshirt is clearly awesome. Therefore, I'm way more awesome than the rest of you.
I just learnt this on keyboard by ear! Unfortunately I haven't been able to distinguish the bass sound so I can learn that too - Is it a bass fill I hear from 1:19 - 1:22 and again at 1:28 - 1:30?
i just bought panopticon as my first isis album yesterday but i kinda wish i had gotten wavering radiant. i just went with my first instinct. it was between those 2 and oceanic.
@LHCLEGION i'd been researching alot of isis's songs and i really like "so did we" and "altered course" so thats mainly why i got panopticon. what would you get next?
If you like Isis you should check out the band ATOMIS you can download their song Maelstrom for free at this link: atomis.bandcamp. com obviously no spaces.
@tooldruid I wish! But even if they don't come back, and they don't write any more brilliant music, they left with an amazing exit, probably one of the best possible way's for a band to finish their career.
Hmm, everytime I listen to this song I remember the first time I heard Isis when they opened for Tool. Its sad that they are gone but its been a blast listening to them all these years and the years to come. You wont be forgotten.
What does that even mean? Because my user name is ckyfan969696? My taste in music and my sexual orientation are unrelated. I was like 15 when I made this account. And I still like cky on the rare occasion. big deal.
Well, In my opinion, start out with Wavering Radiant. Wavering Radiant is amazing from start to finish, and a great starting point for listening to ISIS. I would also recommend Panopticon, considering you've enjoyed everything you've heard so far, but I still think you should go with Wavering Radiant.
@coheedandtom Oceanic Rocks! But It took me a while to get into it, but it was definitely worth it. It's a little more difficult for some people to appreciate, so I went for their most broadly appealing albums. By the way, I was just checking my youtube inbox, and your comment showed up. I clicked on this video, and all my problems seemed to just float away in the first few seconds of this song. Cheers!
Oceanic was my first ISIS album. I was a fairly open-minded metalhead when I first heard it. I knew I would enjoy it eventually, and respected it as a record. But when I hear Panopticon, the melodies were what caused me to love ISIS so much. I felt as if I was on another planet. I went out and bought Wavering Radiant. After this song finished, I replayed it 3 times before listening to the rest of the album. When I turned 14, my parents got me their discography. Best birthday present ever.
If you like dark, atmospheric music and lyrics that give you something to think about, you'll definitely like 'A Murder of Crows' by Alexandre J. Wynne. It's an engrossing, gritty read that I've found pairs great with my Bose speakers and Wavering Radiant (or any of their albums, really).
@pvticetea600 To add to some of the other suggestions you have gotten: Hands, Rosetta, Mouth Of The Architect, Cult Of Luna, Trenches, Rinoa and Jesu. :)
No it is not. Only on Hall of the Dead and with keyboards on the title track. Even then, he only contributes a layer of E-bow, or so I've heard. I think it's the nasally tone in the calm, middle section.
@Grunvagr dude, the screaming adds a whole new dynamic to the song....i mean listen. Such a display of atonal dissonance...and it fucking works man :D
@Sw155 for me i hate it when they growl or scream in progressive metal (or whatever type of metal you want to call this) for example opeth... but i can tolerate and actually find isis' growls to be pretty enjoyable
@Grunvagr I know some bands like this with NO lyrics, like Russian Circles and Pelican. Also Tool does some post-rock stuff with lyrics, but no screaming. Well, Tool does have some screaming, but you'd like it ;)
Even with the screamed vocals, I find this VERY relaxing.

MrWeglwegl 10 months ago
@MrWeglwegl im a huge AOF fan and i find it hard to compare the two bands honestly.. AOF has George screaming, then Dallas doing softer singing and Wade doing the "punk" sound, not that easy of a comparison
thisisdrugs 10 months ago
@thisisdrugs you're right. I was drawing similarities between this and AOF's "Rough Hands". After much more listening of Isis, I retract my previous statement. I am seriously digging this band now though.

@MrWeglwegl Thats unfortunate that you found out about these guys after they broke up. But hell, at least you found them.
jordanm06111 9 months ago
@SamuelHellDay Still, you've got to admire them for that. Simply deciding to call it quits while they're ahead, instead of trudging on with mediocre releases. They've left a legacy that could very well be deemed flawless, and for that, they are legends.
Emberland 11 months ago
i saw them live last year, and i have to say their music performed on the stage is 10000 times more powerful and profound... i'm longing to see them again, this is what you call real talent and true Art.

NightXemnas 1 year ago
@NightXemnas
Sounds like a bass with a delay. Or just a bassist with really good rhythm. I'd put money on the second one

i just bought panopticon as my first isis album yesterday but i kinda wish i had gotten wavering radiant. i just went with my first instinct. it was between those 2 and oceanic.
ilovechipotle85 1 year ago
@ilovechipotle85 You made the right choice.
LHCLEGION 1 year ago
@LHCLEGION i'd been researching alot of isis's songs and i really like "so did we" and "altered course" so thats mainly why i got panopticon. what would you get next?
ilovechipotle85 1 year ago
@ilovechipotle85 Panopticon is Isis' best album, as far as I'm concerned. Oceanic is very nearly as good, so get that next.

@tooldruid I wish! But even if they don't come back, and they don't write any more brilliant music, they left with an amazing exit, probably one of the best possible way's for a band to finish their career.

which album should i start out with as a new isis listner? ive enjoyed everything ive heard so far
clipcalhoon 1 year ago
@clipcalhoon
NightXemnas 1 year ago
@NightXemnas Oceanic is fucking brilliant too.
coheedandtom 1 year ago

RIP, Isis.

No it is not. Only on Hall of the Dead and with keyboards on the title track. Even then, he only contributes a layer of E-bow, or so I've heard. I think it's the nasally tone in the calm, middle section.
